Jaya , I bought it at a utensil store in Khar, Mumbai. though I have seen them at several stores in Mumbai. This handi is excellent , because it is thick , nothing burns and i can cook vegetables in their own juice on low flame. .

The wooden blender is also called madhani in north India, now a days its also available in plastic material. Its mostly used to blend the curd into lassi.

Hi Raghavan, Garam masala has an overpowering flavour , so I prefer to let most vegetables cook in their own flavours and use garam masala selectively while cooking meats, chole etc.
