Thanks for the video, thinking of buying one myself for my S40. A tip though; I heavily recommend against taping wires on the connector. Tape will lose it's adhesive properties over time, especially in cars. Cars can get really hot with sunny weather, causing the glue to lose viscosity and migrate around. When when the car gets cold during winter, the glue will set and the adhesive properties of the glue will deteriorate. Meanwhile the plastic of the tape itself will also deteriorate quickly under these influences, becoming more rigid. The consequences are not only possible short circuits causing the camera to break and fuses burn out, it can also cause electrical damage to more systems in your car. The worst case scenario is fire. When the cables become lose and jiggle around the connector, it might cause arcing and sparks, actually causing the tape or the plastics of the connector itself to catch fire. These 12 volt lines are fused at about 15 amps, so it's very likely there will be sparks. I recommend getting a separate 12v power socket and connect it by soldering it to existing power cables by stripping and shrink wrapping them. If you can't solder, plastic screw connections are an option but not preferable. Better get help soldering. Make sure the connector adapter of the camera sits tightly in the socket, and secure it with good quality tie-wraps.

Very good video. I converted a plastic strip, which was part of a cardboard box. So that I went from the front interior light to the rear in the middle of the roof. But my camera is on my mirror. I did the other like you did Keep doing such videos

Superb explanation about how to install the 2 cameras. I spent days wiring in my reversing camera. I could have done what you did, so much more easily. The same goes for the front wiring. Using the cables at the side of the tunnel is so much better than my idea of a multi-socket into the cigar lighter. It's always getting knocked when I am changing gear etc. You are a genius! Thanks. Just a tip: You should run the cable for the rear camera behind the airbag curtain or along the floor of the car, The cable can cause the airbag to blow up incorrectly :)

Good tip. Never thought of it. But the wire is very light and should not interfere with the powerful airbag. I honestly would not worry about it. But great tip anyway.

@@volvosweden Of course do what you want, the reason I said it was because i was just at a SRS safety course at the Volvo factory in Gothenburg, where we got to hear several cases where the airbag has blown out wrong due to retrofitted accessories, the cord can make the airbag blow out in the wrong direction and can for example, knock you unconscious or break your neck. I'm not saying this to bother or complain but it's a recommendation :) Btw i love your channel, keep up the great work! :)

Nice video. I also installed a dash cam in my XC70. I went with the Falcon brand forward only facing. The camera you have produces an amazing quality video! I mounted it on the windshield in exactly the same place you did. To wire it up, rather than rig an adapter behind the panel, I bought a fuse box wiring adapter off Amazon which allowed me to utilize an empty port in the switched fuse box.

One tip regarding the rear facing camera and the IC deployment deviations that the wiring might cause. I would follow the path, where the original parking camera goes through - the driver’s side floor (I have a link to the official Volvo installation guide, but when I post it, my comment gets removed). Then just unmount the A pillar and tuck the cable behind its IC all along up to the sun visor section.

I use Blackvue 650s 2 channels in my Volvo with power magic box which allows me to have the camera on while my car is parked somewhere else than my driveway. I did captured quiet few interesting footage in park mode too so is not a bad ideea to spent few more bucks for the box. It can be programmed to run from a couple of hours to non-stop filming or adjust after the voltage in the battery so it doesn't drain it. I will never own a car and drive it without a dash cam.

I could have used this set up a few weeks ago when I was side-swiped. Other driver tore my driver's mirror off, then told the officer I hit him. The video would have clearly shown the other driver passing me in the Emergency lane, then striking my car. Agggh!

Ночью хорошо снимает. Понравилось. А заднюю камеру хочется, конечно, поближе к стеклу передвинуть, чтобы увеличить угол обзора. По поводу настройки MD - бесполезное занятие. НА улице всегда что-то происходит, поэтому детектор движения не будет давать эффекта. Это бы пригодилось, например, в режиме охраны. Когда машина находится на подземной стоянке или в гараже. Но тогда камера не будет работать вообще, потому что обесточена цепь прикуривателя. Словом MD - какая-то бесполезная опция для автомобильного регистратора.

My 12v connector looks slightly different under the centre console. Mine has orange cables coming off it and when I unplugged it there was a red light inside (like an optical connection) is they defo the 12v connection?

Your rain sensor is FK'd btw, A squirt of silicone spray on the gel usually fix the problem. Nice installation 👍👍👍

Only thing i dont like so far is that you cant move the camera sideways, this allaws you to film the side of your car when someone is roadrageing for example. Does the camera have a built in battery? myn does and thats how the motion detection and parking mode works. i have a cheaper camera (about 50 bucks) and front only, it has saved me two times from ppl driving into me and blaming me, so the camera has saved me 600 bucks in insurence. i recommend everyone to get one, they are a very cheap insurence when driving and from time to time i catch others things with my camera, crazy road rage or animals running infront of the car. after seaing your video im gonna get one for my v70 and instal it just like you did, thanks :)

I wanted to ask if you have a solution for Bluetooth problem, where you can make calls through stock radio, but can't listen wireless to music from your phone. Your radio on XC70 looks the same as mine. I know that there are many adapter to AUX mini-Jack, but it doesn't work with steering wheel buttons - which would be nice to have. Please be careful, the way shown for the cabling of the rear camera will place the cable directly below the inflatable curtains(Airbags!!!) on the side! This is a serious security issue as the cable may block the curtain or hurt somebody or it may hold somebody back unexpectedly when trying to escape the car! Please update this video with proper cabling!!! The best location for the rear camera cable will be down at the floor as there are inflatable curtains in the roof on both sides between the a pillar and the c pillar. Always disconnect the battery prior to working close to the airbags. Removing the cover of the a pillar is a peace of cake, just remove the plastic plate labeled "IC AIRBAG" and the screw below it, then pull gently on both sides starting at the top. After removal fix the dashcam cable(s) to the car cable string using zip ties or anything suitable and mount the cover again. If you have another model try to google the "emergency rescue sheet" of your specific model and year to locate the positions of the airbags and other maybe dangerous items. Cables should NEVER block the possible ways of airbags!
