14:30 I have to say I totally agree with you in that you should have physical buttons for everyhing you use constantly. A good physical button will always feel higher quality, then some unresponsive touchscreen. I don't really know why people say though it's more futuristic to have everything on a touchscreen. How is having drawbacks (e.g. pressing buttons 5 times to access one function because it's in some submenu) futuristic?

hopefully automakers will wake up before there are too many fatal accidents caused by this lapse in judgement, and put climate-control buttons/dials back, outside of computer touchscreens...
@cbatiau25285 жыл бұрын
And, anybody who has used a modern computer/laptop/smartphone knows that computers can "bomb out", freeze, reboot suddenly, etc. So this inherent computer problem is another reason not to have all-digital instrument gauges, all-digital control buttons for audio/climate, etc. In my decades of owning lots of cars with analog instrument gauges, I can say that only once or twice has an analog gauge ever failed on me. Cars will be taken in much less hospitable environments than we take our computers and laptops usually -- very cold and very hot conditions, very bumpy & uneven roads, at times, and this can't be good for any computer system.

Love the frameless windows and very cool re: the charging port vibratory mechanism; I was wondering about that very use-case. -1C doesn't seem very cold for Finland and above the arctic circle. Agreed, there's simply no way manipulating the screen based controls is a safe way to operate the vehicle. It hurts my mind that Porsche puts so much effort / engineering into the vehicle's performance and the control systems yet doesn't account for safe operation. For the love of your Customers, please incorporate physical controls, Porsche. As always, a great, succinct presentation!
@cbatiau25285 жыл бұрын
I think that frameless windows are less safe. Framing structure is good for the glass, opening and closing doors thousands of times, and one tends to rub against the edges of the glass of a frameless window much more often, as well. There's a reason why most cars have frames around the glass.

Barely shorter than a Panamera, electric which helps with layout, but the back seat space does disappoint a bit. Then why is it a 911 plus mediocre rear seat rather than an electric Panamera? Are Porsche just protecting the latter from losing too many sales too soon while they are ramping up electric production capacity? The best compliance car we've ever seen? Or is it just a result from making Taycan as sporty (looking) as possible? Same as with Model 3, I wonder whether there really is no better solution for the rear door/hatch without making it look like a Mazda. My floppy head lights 323F was amazing, BTW. Love a car I can toss a bike in the back. Taycan estate? I'd drive that.

Why do you complain that a portion of the display is obscured by the steering wheel? If you've ever driven an Audi you should know this is done on purpose. The parts obscured are the light switches on the left and drive settings on the right. It's not stuff you need to look at constantly, and they are obscured so that you don't have to stare at a regulation green indicator all the time when your display color scheme is mostly white and understated for OCD people. On all Audis the light controls are similarly obscured by the steering wheel so that the green light indicator doesn't clash with the otherwise orange or while interior lighting. Also, do you have to keep saying umpteen times how your legs are freakishly short? They're fine.

Great review,!Thanks! But..what's the thing about "animal free"/"Vegan", all the time? I really dislike that flawed narrative. No human being (or animal) has ever lived without other animals (or plants, for that matter) dying. For vegans and vegetarians to get their unnatural food (from a paleo-anthropological perspective), many thousands of insects, birds, rodents, small game get killed. There is no such thing as "cruel" or "kind" food choices or lifestyle choices (if you don't kill animals for fun), when you consider the big picture. Yes, there are some (but on the whole, very few) examples of "cruel" (wasteful) animal farming, but 99% of animal farmers love their animals and treat them well. The leather in a Porsche comes from a cow that gave it's milk, meat, hide and many many other valuable parts. Nothing is wasted. I wish this short sighted vegan marketing narrative disappears, the sooner the better. It defies basic ecology. I will buy my fossil fueled Porsche, with leather seats and interior, and be happy about it :) Rant over ;-)
@autogefuehl3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which exact body part you would be murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And if you want the slick look or something to wipe clean easier, that is possible with animal free leatherette. Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@autogefuehl3 жыл бұрын
If u want to save plants, eat vegetables. Because for animal products, 10x the amount of plants are chopped because it is so inefficient to feed animals first. 99% of all animals are being held in mass farming with cruel conditions, just check the facts. Just think about how u want your pets to be treated and think the same about other animals because they have the same right of pain free life
