We went for the 1.5, because our main goal was to drive roof down and enjoy the experience. We drove the 2.0 also, but I had the tendency to drive more violent and we weren't having the experience of driving top down anymore, all the senses were focused on accelerating, turning, etc. I can assure you, revving that 1.5 to 7000 at a traffic light, still gets you way ahead of other traffic. It's cheaper, less taxes (here in Belgium), cheaper for maintenance, and consumes less fuel.

sure, perfect excuse for the western Europe non-motorists society; let's all drive on our bicycles, hold hands and sing kumbaya!, you know what, some of us actually still appreciate driving for fun, driving in high spirit on a good road; the problem is, those roads are now overcrowded with ppl like yourself in SUVs, caravans and etc..., because for you(and those like you) motoring now is just having the top open at the traffic lights. This by far the weakest and pansiest societies our European continent has seem in the last 100 years. It is because of you and those like you that Mazda cannot bring 2.0 mx5s in Europe anymore, not the EU government/commission/etc

People say, you can turn of the safety features but that is not it. There is a track button on the new ND3 but if you go a little bit to fast to the corner the safety kicks still in that is wat you dont want. Fascinating to know in the EU that they are taking away the 2.0 engine. In the USA, you can buy a 2024 soft top Grand Touring, Club, Sport, or RF with the the 181hp engine as standard, in either stick or auto. With auto, in the Grand Touring, you get radar cruise control, mounting a rather awkward module unit in the front grill, which breaks up the valance design. Colors are only Aero Grey, Machine Grey Metallic, Snowflake White, Soul Red, or Zircon Sand. 17 inch Bridgestone S001 Potenzas are the standard OEM tire, period. Have never seen a 16 inch tire here, nor is there that new chrome rim as seen on your Euro edition with the side lights painted out. You get only one rim choice here for 2024, other than the BBS rim on the Club, which is a piano black painted rim with machined aluminum accents. No other choice is available like your new European chrome rim. Inventory here in the state of California is not that great; very limited colors and choices. The atmosphere in dealer lots is that your are an informed individual well-aware that you are buying the very last ICE car of it's kind. They know you are not just a lookie-loo. And they agree with you that electrification is a fraught proposition for the future of the car, from this "last of the breed" ICE model forward. On a personal note, the difference between the ND2 steering rack and the new ND3 steering rack has been absolutely undersold by Mazda's PR department; the difference is mind-blowing. It feels like an entirely different automobile. I could tell within 100 feet of driving around the dealer's parking lot.

@Filipolis2 ай бұрын
I'm still pretty sure they are fake. He didn't even show them clearly to prove otherwise. They cannot work for air curtains around the wheels since they are too far from the side and would need a long duct. They are used with a hose on the race cars for brake cooling but that wouldn't be practical on a road car.

To the 2L. „It sounds much better“. Of course it does. It has, unlike the 1.5L, a pipe connecting the Motor to the cabin so you get more engine noise. I’m really happy with my 1.5 and this extra induced engine noise in the 2L was an argument against it in my decision. Not as bad as the electrical Fake engine noise played in the GR86 but still unnecessary. I like how quiet the 1.5L is when you just want to cruise and relax for a change xD

Basically what I am looking at the MX-5 ND for. I was going to get one for 2024 but life got in the way (illness so focusing on that) but 2025 is possibly the last year and I don't see how they don't turn the MX-5 into a hybrid for the next model. I also expect they will go heavy into all the modern tech items, zero buttons and all screen for example. The ND has its foot in the physical buttons/touch of older cars, and just enough tech to keep things comfortable. I bet the next MX-5 will be great in its own way but it will be the end of a era.

"The boot fits almost nothing." 2 carry on luggages and 2 small soft bags. So, all of that, and then "almost nothing" else. *eyeroll* I've fitted a full shopping trolley of small IKEA purchases into my MX-5 and could still shut the bootlid. Be less hysterical and more real please.
@pauldempsey49812 ай бұрын
Real life internal MX-5 ND storage example: The cubby below the central armrest can swallow 16 EUR in 2 Euro coins in the dedicated slots, a set of housekeys, an iPhone SE 3rd Gen, and a remote keyfob for my electric gates. The central glovebox could accommodate maybe 8 CD cases (for older models of the ND with a CD player) plus some other small bits. In my car I have dashboard wipes, pocket tissues, a Ray-Bans case, driving glasses, a concentrate windscreen washer fluid bottle (from Lidl) at all times, and there's still space for house keys and my wallet. There are also 2 hidden storage cubbies behind each seat on the soft-top, but only one behind one seat in the 'RF' variant. "But nothing crazy." The "afterthought" cup holders are removable, with the passenger side item being relocatable to just beside the passengers leg on the transmission tunnel. If you don't drink while driving, you can just remove this extra (negligible) weight altogether. I call that clever, not an afterthought.

On the placement of the MZD Connect Commander controls, remember that MAZDA is a Japanese company, and in Japan they drive on the LHS, sitting on the RHS of the car. My MX-5 is RHD, and the handbrake is beside my left leg, with the MZD Connect Commander control to the left of that - closer to the passenger. So in RHD MX-5s this isn't an issue. If BMW can build a 5-Series (E39) where the wipers aren't re-engineered for RHD markets then MAZDA can surely be forgiven this.

Great review, thank you for making it. When I test drove the Miata, I found it to have too many compromises. Very limited exterior & interior color options, Not enough leg room, seating material is sub par, seats do not recline back enough, no real glovebox, intrusive hump on the passenger side floor, cup holders are unusable, nowhere for my dog to sit, limited storage space, head is way to close to the windshield 5:13 ....for the asking price I expect a much better car. So I bought a JCW Mini Cooper convertible in British Racing Green with tan interior. It's actually shorter than a Miata, handles like a go-kart, the tan Chesterfield Malt quilted seats with white piping looks like it came right out of a Bentley, has four usable seats so my dog can sit in the back comfortably, plenty of leg room and the seats recline all the way back, has a thigh extension on the seat to make it even more comfortable for long distance drives, a real glove-box, cup holders are front and center where they belong, plenty of storage, goes real fast and it's built to a much higher standard. You can also drive the Mini all year long with zero compromises. So if you are in the market for a convertible with zero compromises then consider the Mini.
