@@gavcom4060 M8 and GT weigh about the same. A 911 is a significantly smaller car dimensionally and doesnt have to be as good of a "luxury car" as a Mercedes. 911 and C190 AMG GT are real sports cars, this new GT has a completely different motive for a different target market.

355 kg weight difference is enormous! It astounds me how Merc and BMW have lost the ability to make lightweight sports cars. You cannot compensate that exess weight just by increasing hp. Physics don't work that way.

Piano black?? You mean in that small area, which basically drops once you open it up?? That little area of piano?? What has less in this segment? Corvettes have the most horrid divider ever, and even that is basically a piano line. Coupled with the horrid infotainment. And that's the only one that would be close. Ipad, let me guess....piano black buttons would've been much better?? Maybe piano black buttons on a paino black console even...soo good. Thinking you're making a point about their Luxury high perf GT taking a book out of the S-Class, instead of the C Class like last gen isn't the point you think it is. This is S Class + Old GT Naca duct layout. Last gen was C Class + SL. It even outdid the C Class and had plastic door switches. You're probably used to said plastic, so you wouldn't get why that's a big deal on a Merc in that segment.

Very nice car but unfortunately this GT63 Pro can’t come close to comparing with a 911 GTS in performance or handling let alone any of the 911 GT cars. It may compete better with a 911 S but that is such a let down considering it’s the top GT63 version.

Once the facelifted 911 Turbo comes out without the side-air intake holes on the back wheel arches, probably my dream GT will be born. From this Merc, I prefer the lowest trim, 55 without spoiler on the rear, very clean yet elegant back.

I think that the GT Pro is preferable to the E-Performance, obviously, because of less weight... but also because of a less complicated drive train. Less complications will be really appreciated in the future, considering maintenance and repairs. Awesome video, as always, Thomas!

Seen it in flesh it does look even better in person. I LOT of people will choose Mercedes bc of better 4 seats and boot practicality. Also the v8 sounds fantastic. 911 is a bit different and a legend too so I would not switch personally but Mercedes did a great job!

Nearly as heavy as my 7 seater E55 AMG estate from 2004😂. 300 kg heavier than Turbo S+ which has useable rear seats......old one would be much more fun on track. This is just a hard top SL.

These won’t sell, will be cancelled with the next generation. People want P cars, not their imitation. Original GT was so cool, because it was unique and its own thing, this one is a mere copy at an unreasonable price. They will also depreciate twice faster than the 911, so absolutely no point buying one. The steering wheel is hideous and way too fat, why do you need two rows of buttons? Central console is horrible as well and why do I need a 65” tv in the sports car?

It is good you are getting through so many ICEs at the moment, thank you. The external looks on this are wonderful, though I do not really like the bolted on rear spoiler. A GT format is just what I like. The V8 looks and sounds wonderful, but perhaps more like an American muscle car than a more nuanced European one. What ruins it for me are Mercedes contemporary UI/UX choices and especially the iPad in the middle, so for €220k not for me if I had the €220k spare.

Had the new model for about 4-5 months. Man I took a hit on the resale, but that was to be expected. Dealers always give you the song and dance about they don't know the value of such a new car. Really though, the AMG GT 63 had very sharp handling with the rear steer. Overall, it felt pretty flat for the most part. All the driving adjustments are over the top in my opinion. I was so excited when I saw the car available, and had been anticipating the release down in Houston, TX. Turned a lot of heads initially, but really not much different than the SL 63 that I had a year or two ago. If you were not in sport plus, or race it felt kind of plain. For the list price at just about 200k US, I did feel the car was overpriced. The large screen was the same as the sl 63. All in all a terrible design. Should have been integrated into the dash and smaller. End of the day it was distracting when driving. The car came with no back seat and the rear did not fold down as I thought. I bought it anyway. The inside was beautiful and really lit up at night. The car would get on it when you punched in sport plus, but a 3.0 sec to 60 mph seemed unlikely. Ride was composed and quite for the most part, which is a good thing. Suspension I thought was great. I think the tire size was a good choice for handling and ride quality. Car was heavy but most of them are when you have an all-wheel drive set up. I have had two Posche Turbos (non s 992/2021 and 2022) and one Carrera s. 992. All those cars where more fun to drive. Although the Turbo 992 is pretty tame when driving around town. Alos have had two BMW M8 competition coup's and currently in a 2024. The M8 is an older design, but there is something about a 630 HP coupe. The M8 can be quite ferocious when you want it to be. My opinion a better car for the street in Houston. Would I flip back in the AMG GT 63 maybe a yes, but not at 200k. maybe 147k or so used. Overall, a beautiful looking. machine. Maybe the next version needs a about a 70 HP bump and get rid of the screen and re design the dash. The door handles where a bit tricky.

I miss old days when especially Mercedes was known for its unique styling, nowadays all model are similar and this is a 911 copy instead of evolving SLS shape. I owned two Mercedes, but last 10 years I can't even look at them anymore. Why is a G so popular? Because G is a tradition, you can't rename and reshape everything in 5-10 years.

I’ve been buying new Porsches since 1984. I’m very interested in a GT as I can’t buy a new 911 turbo. The reason is Porsche has gone fully woke and they enabled speculators to take over their higher trim markets for 911s. If I want a turbo or a Gt3 touring, I have to pay$50k-$100k over list to buy one that been abused and flipped back to the dealer and marked up massively. This has destroyed my brand loyalty. I also have an AMG 63s for a sedan which opened the Mercedes option to me. So since Porsches hates me for wanting to buy a new ICE car - I guess I’ll leave their brand permanently.

The 911 Turbo S does 2.7s 0-100km/h with a flat-6, while the quickest Mercedes does 2.8s with a V8 - though it's significantly heavier with all the luxury bits inside.
