Autoglym Super Resin Polish Review and How to use it tips | The Pros and Cons! First Impressions

Today's Review is all about Autoglym Super Resin Polish. This Polish has been a best seller since its release and im here to test it out and see how it works. For those of you who are undecided about this polish you will be able to see the full effects in real time. I will be covering the Pro's and Cons. This video will also give you tips and tricks so if you are a beginner to the car detailing world then your in the right place.
This video is aimed at Car People alike and not aimed at the top detailers as you already know what is good and what is bad. In the eyes of a car detailer this is an all in one but in the eyes of an everyday user its better from a marketing point of view to call it a polish. So the idea of this polish is cut, fill and protect.
In a later video we will be showing you how to polish car using a machine polisher to apply super resin polish. So is this any good at removing scratches? well its not actually its main purpose and yes to very tiny degree. But it cuts very little. Autoglym contains fillers which help block out the light bouncing of the sctrach making it less visible to see. SRP also contains wax so yes it protects the cars paintwork but for a very limited time only. I real world conditions you will get anywhere upto good 4 washes before that shine diminishes.
As for optimising Autoglym super resin polish ill be covering that in a later video. This one is purely for beginners to help them understand what it is how to use it.

I used Super Resin Polish back in 1995 as a professional detailer for Porsche. This was before it was on the market for public and it came it a bloody big tin. I remember it was a lot thicker back then (which was heaps better) and then they came out with the new formula which is runny. Good times and the smell brings me back to my youth. I’ve been using this stuff for many many years. I absolutely love it. It’s so nice to use, applying and buffing. I love Autoglym SRP. I've tried lots of other "quality" polishes over the years just to see if there's anything better that's come along that I may be missing out on. I always end up going back to SRP though. Relatively cheap, easy to apply, even easier to buff off and doesn't leave ugly greasy swirls like some other polishes. Smells great too and brings back a wave of nostalgia every time I use it. After I've done the polish I usually go with PBW's blue natty's paste wax to finish off.

Great product demonstration. I liked the info on priming the polish pad - makes heaps of sense - especially when you liken it to priming the roller when painting. For protection its worth preparing the paint with Autoglym Super Resin Polish then following up with either Autoglym Ultra High Definition Wax or Collinite 476. You get a good 3 to 6 months protection from the weather. Wash the car using a pH neutral shampoo (from Autoglym, of course.)

This one can be powdery but it depends on factors like paint temperature, air temperature. It's good if you use this then follow with ceramic Detailer

I know this is an old video, but can you use Autoglym SRP after using Meguires Ultimate Compound. I have a mk1 focus. The bonnet and roof badly oxidized, so think the Ultimate Compound will hopefully sort that?

That is the way to do it. But compound needs a polish machine with a compound pad. Though some compounds already contain polish, so then you do not need this. I used to have Focus mk1, had rust at bottom of rear doors. Though nice to drive, but it was high on maintenance....

Use it when you don’t have scratches because it contains resin which fill up the scratches. Detailers never use this kind of products because the scratches still are on the paintwork. Use a good abrasive polish without fillers and a good clean up finishing product. On the other hand,… it’s not a bad product at all for DIY. Many greetings.

Remember the first time I used SRP on my black Nissan, well I thought it was 'black' but after the polish I couldn't believe the difference, like night and day. It's a fantastic product for sure. Hello, What pad do you recommend using with SRP? I am thinking about using Polishing pad, white, soft by koch chemie to hide light swirl marks. Car paint has very light scratches/swirl marks so i am skipping compounding process.

In that case can I recommended you get rupes white zephyr gloss. It's got a white lid. It's a gel style compound/polish . No powder. It improves clarity and it doesn't make any mess. By far the best product for me. Follow it up with a ceramic sealant by garage therapy or bear car care for a stunning finish. Plus it's easy with no dramas involved 👍

Thanks mate. Both products are different in their own way. Megs doesn't offer any protection it's just a compound. Whereas srp doesn't have much abrasives so it can't do the same job.

I've used Autoglym Paint Renovator, then SRP and sometimes sealed it with Extra Gloss Protection, but I've never used any of the Meguiars polishes or compounds.

You can apply wax on top. SRP itself doesnt really offer a great deal of protection. As amazing as it looks i like to use extra gloss protection on top which adds a real nice finish. Sorry only just saw this message somehow

Turtle wax has excellent waxes and sealants, but they need to step up on polishes. The ice speed cut compound is great though, a little bit more cut than Meg's UC

Hello always clay bar first for best results. Ceramic spray on top is fine. For long term protection I'd advise compound first then panel wipe followed by Ceramic

Ideally yes. Bare in mind Wax doesn't last long, one product I love at the moment is Meguairs ceramic liquid wax. It's very user friendly

@@epicautomotivedetailing pretty much all spray on waxes / sealants only last a few washes, 10 maximum. Waxes do last much longer, fusso coat with is a synthetic sealant/wax paste lasts for over half a year in bad conditions, garaged and well kept around 10-12 months. This is speaking for the old formula, the new formula has many fewer solvents however decreased longevity. No one should be using a polish and expecting protection... polishing is getting light scratching and swirl marks out of the paintwork, not protecting it. That’s why you always need to put a wax or sealant on top.

I’ve just washed my car and looks gd had autoglym life shine put on as it’s a new car it looked great no spots nothing then it rained and had rain spots all over it is there anything I can do to stop the rain spots marking the car

Hello you need something that can protect the car better in top. Autoglym SRP doesn't have huge lifespan. A decent ceramic spray wax would be my go to product to protect it

Yes you can Autoglym recommend that it's actually used as a top up to provide additional protection to any waxes or polishes

Yes but thats if your doing a polish using a compound. Autoglym isnt intended for hardcore detailers. Its aim is for the enthusiast who just likes to improve the look of their car. I recently remade this video few months a go

What spray wax are you using? To optimise super resin polish i suggest you go for Autoglym extra gloss protection. That will give you anywhere upto 30 extra washes and keeps srp on for longer

I had the same thoughts. I use polar blast so was going to wash, clean and dry, then polish with SRP. Rinse over and then cover with polar seal.

That's a very interesting question. Personally I would use it in top. It does contain carnauba which is totally fine to apply on top of SRP. If you were going down a different such as actually doing a full on detail eg. Clay bar,Machine polish etc then you probably wouldn't even use SRP anyway as its main purpose is a short term glossy shine for those one off days. If you wanted to a quick detail or paint enhancement on a car in a day for example I would use megs ultimate compound,IPA then perhaps zaino z5 pro so you get the durability combined with the shine.

According to Autoglyn, after you have polished the car and applied EGP, you will not need to put wax on after as EGP works as a very effective wax it's self...

If it was my own car that was new I would still clay bar it and light compound it before applying a ceramic coating. If it's something your doing yourself and wanted good results meguiar's have a great range

A better alternative is super resin polish followed by the rapid ceramic detailer spray. Trust me you will see a difference 👌

Its the best value for money polish on the market. It's not over priced but it's not the cheapest either but the criticism of it not being long term is wrong. Yes, the gloss protection is great but cars get dirty just by being rained on. Ceramic coated cars bead up....no good in the rain as the beads cause water spots as they dry exactly the same as non polished cars do. You do have to manually dry a car to avoid it, polish or not...ceramic coating or not. It's an essential part of anyone's kit.

You need a heavy cutting compound to remove scratches and swirls, with a polisher machine which normally have 2 pads one for compound and 1 for polishing. Though if the compound contains polish u do not need to use this?😮😮😮

Depends on severity of the marks or swirls. If they are caused by machine then a compound is needed.this is the car equivalent of make-up
