It's a people/cargo mover that can also tackle offroad trails that even many other crossovers cannot, yet its lap time came within 4 seconds of a purposely built sport car riding on summer tires. Instead of complaining about how they are not comparable, people should look at this video as a testament to the Forester XT's ability and versatility.

Not sure what you mean about the Forester XT's gas mileage. I've had a 2014 FXT for over a year now, living in a city (and I'm a relatively hard driver), and my average is close to 25 mpg. On open highway driving, even with the A/C running, I regularly get over 28 mpg. And if I turn on the auto-cruise I can get over 30 mpg. If you're running in S or S# mode all the time, sure, of course you're not going to get those rated mileages... but I almost never have to use them because the standard setting is all the punch I need.

For all those that want a turbo BRZ. The Forester XT weighs 300 pounds more than the regular Forester. The WRX weighs 400 pounds more than the standard Imprezza. Subaru will not just add a Turbo to the BRZ without upgrading the wheels chassis brakes and cooling system. So then you have a 3100 pound 260 hp BRZ that cost well over 30 grand. For 32 grand you can have the much more refined BMW 228i. It has 270 hp and a far more refined interior and exterior along with a standard 8 speed auto and 4 years free service. The New 15 Mustang Turbo 4 will have 300 hp and be under 30 grand. Both cars weigh under 3300 pounds. Unless Subaru can somehow keep the weight and price down. There are many more competent competitors waiting above 30k.

I knew the Fozzy XT would be faster before I even started watching. But I think this would have been a better comparo if it was a BRZ vs WRX because their both a couple of Subaru's sports cars, and they start around the same price.

I didn't buy my 2018 Forester XT to take to the track. I liked my 2013 Forester, but wanted more power. Now I have All-wheel-drive utility and kick-ass power.

Subaru smokes competition in the same class, they care compared more to the luxury vehicles now days, the suspension is a lot better then these clowns are saying... best thing you can do is test drive "same class" vehicle's for yourself . Ill take my xt over any of these other worthless cars.. not to mention the xt TONS of upgrades you can do where as other cars and suv's there is not.. just to give you something to think about

I own a 2014 forester xt and a 2014 Sti. Horrible comparison. Forester xt is a blast to drive, amazing motor, Xmode, safety etc... Watch motortrend for automotive journalism. Best SUV in the class. Feels fast compared to my sti. Compare an f150 to a ford focus st next time for more brainless comparisons.

waitt if subaru has the same exact enginge but just turbbo why cant subaru make it push 20 more hp. and make a brz sti. the 250hp isnt what impresses me but they almost doubled the torque which is what the brz really lacks even if they keep the engine exactly the same the 250 torque is whats will make a huge difference.

Ok I'm replying to an 8-years old comment. Here goes. I've owned both the 2013 brz and for the last 3 years, the 2017 forester xt. The brz needs this turbo engine, or an sti version w/turbo, but I'll tell you why that didnt happen and STILL hasn't happened. Enter the FRS and the GT86, the BRZs evil twins. Why evil? Toyota helped develop this car. Even the lock and unlock tones are identical to camrys of that generation. The fuel injectors and many of the electronics and other components are Toyota-made. Subaru signed on with toyata to combine the best if both companies to make these sports cars, but as the conspiracy goes: a key part of the contract forbid subaru from turbo/super-charging the brz because toyota was bout to be balls deep in prototyping the new Supra. Which if the BRZ STI existed, would be a more affordable, lighter, direct competitor with the Supra. And they didnt want that. So here we are. 9 years later and still no turbo brz. Supras roam free not knowing the sacrifice subaru made so they can drive in peace, comfort, and in an unearned sense of superiority... Also fun fact, the physically -IDENTICAL forester xt in the japanese market is stock TUNED for 30 more hp because they have no ethanol in their fuel. Lower quality fuel in the usa, so lower hp tune for us. :'(

It will be interesting in a few years to see some XT's with aftermarket suspension etc. I have found a heavy duty sway bar for them but i think it would hurt my warranty so better check first.

Why would you want to change the XT. It is an excellent sports off road vehicle. You may destroy its off road balance if you start messing around with it unless you know what you are up to.

bighands69 Yeah i hear what your saying the ride offroad would become uncomfortably shaky but i really just wanted a wrx with more internal space, and a bit of clearance for grassy hills. And stiffening with sway bars and strut bars isnt going to change the ride, only if i changed the springs and shocks. Coming from a santa fe i am dissappointed that the XT has more body roll.

The 2014 Subaru Forester XT has been compared to it's competition. Motortrend has awarded the Forester, Sport Utility Vehicle of the Year. Most people reviewing Forester cars do not understand how to drive the all wheel drives. I guarantee I would whip your asses all over the track if I where driving the forester xt. I could tell the way you where driving the forester into the corners it was incorrect . You must brake into the corners and accelerate through the Apex. Maybe you should go to a car racing school before you pretend to be experts.

In a timed event same driver the BRZ will still be faster than the Foster XT. Two different type of Automobiles. The new 15 WRX is much faster than the BRZ on the track.

These cars are of completely different class and are not comparable... If you lower the forester and maybe reduce the weight a little, as the brz is much lighter and smaller the forester would obliterate the brz in not just the quarter mile but around the track aswell

It depends on what you use it for. If you are using it on the farm then the diesel would also be the best usage especially if you are putting in high mileage. But if you are an urban user who takes it off road every now and then and does low mileage then the XT is the obvious choice.
