After some trial and error, I was able to create a circuit that turns on the reverse lights automatically whenever the machine is put in reverse! Any other method I've seen requires the use of reed switches or microswitches on the shifter handle itself, but they can fall out of alignment or stop working over time due to their physical nature. This closed circuit is based on a timer and relay system, and chance of failure is extremely low.
Also, with the reed switch or microswitch method, they tend to flicker on/off every time you move the shifter through the reverse to another gear, which is every time you put the machine in Park. The Ride Command system has a slight delay built in to address this and the lights will not flicker as you move your shifter through Reverse to another gear. Win win!
The machine used in this video is my 2020 Polaris RZR PRO XP Sport with Ride Command. I am 99% sure you will need Ride Command to use this circuit, although I have no way to test for sure. I've noted in the video to leave a comment if you have a machine without Ride Command and can test probe the purple wire in the box.
Unfortunately, if I am correct, this means that if you do not have Ride Command, you will need to use the Reed switch or microswitch contact methods.
