THIS is Exactly what I needed... a visual "how to"... Thank You!

The numbers in the manual are correct, you got only half of the amount of oil in the pan, the other half stays in the torque converter. If you run the engine, both half portions do mix up and you got a 50/50 ratio of old and new fluid. If you repeat the procedure, you will mix to a 25/75 ratio an so on... That explains why you think You have too much fluid. I tried this once, and wondered about why only half of the amount came out when flushing the transmission...
@rokkinroll2 жыл бұрын
Precisely !!!
@TheVicj92 Жыл бұрын
Wait so after you repeat the procedure many times all of the fluid will be in the converter?
@catfishakaAMC8 жыл бұрын
This is why you pour the fluid that came out into bottles so you can measure the amount to put the same back in. My Honda Accord takes 3 quarts exactly. Now, there is still some fluid remaining in the torque converter and the lines, If you wish to do a "flush", take the lines off and feed new fluid into the return line (MAKING SURE IT NEVER SUCKS AIR! - the hard part) Start the engine so the fluid will circulate. When the fluid coming out the other line is red, stop the engine and you're done.

do you mean the return line on the radiator??
@nolanfamily52045 жыл бұрын
Every automatic I have owned says in the operators manual to check the auto trans fluid 'while the engine is running'. This takes up a lot of fluid, so the level DROPS when you run the engine. I fear you may be under-filling the torque converter when you check the fluid level with the engine off....

the number your reading is for the hole system it sounds like you just dropped the pan. thats about half you still have a torque converter that has about 3 to 4 qt in it and you have some in your rad to

Make total sense, thanks.

When you drain an automatic transmission there will still be fluid that does not drain out of the torque converter. There are videos on KZbin on how to completely drain and fill your transmission properly.

Thanks, no worries. It`s all good detail for anyone trying to get help and follows this thread. I don`t have scriptwriters for the videos and may forget or not mention important detail. Thank you for commenting.

No cambiaste el filtro, y tienes que cambiar 2 solenoides en cada cambio, si no le partiras su madre al carro

You only want to replace what you drain out. there is still fluid in the torque converter

Of course. TQ removal and drain is another video.

Hi Did you drain the fluid with the dipstick in or out? The service manual suggests that it should be out.
@theoverengineer8 жыл бұрын
+Tanks a Lot They do so to make a fast drain and minimize sloshing, no vacuum is created by accidental tight fit. I had all day and the catch pan was big enough, the fluid stream hits the frame anyhow so it does not slosh. I left the dipstick in, I did not want any dirt falling into the tube.
@atanksalot8 жыл бұрын
I have no explanation to the capacity that they reported, but it is like that in multiple manuals. One guy reported that the dealer told him his Mazda3 capacity was 15 quarts! Now, that is nonsense.

@@theoverengineer My car shifts hard sometimes, if i change the transmision fluid will it stop shifting at all? It shifts hard more then it does smooth.
@theoverengineer5 жыл бұрын
@@JayCMoney808 Everything wears, including the fluid (gets dirty). Replacing 1 thing will not fix the whole. Gear teeth are wearing, plugs blocking/opening internal passages also wear. Full overhaul might be in order. Of course, fluid change makes it better, but not perfect.

DO NOT USE this is transmission oil in the video, IT IS NOT the proper transmission oil for the transmission! THE PROPER transmission oil is for 1999 - 2003 Protege and Protege 5 and Ford owners is Mazda M V or Mazda M 5 , for Fords it is the same different name "Ford 4F27E" transmission oil ! Mazda's name for this transmission is FN4A-EL, Ford's name for this transmission is 4F27E, "On Mazda vehicles, this transmission uses Mazda M5 fluid (Mazda part number: 0000-77-112E-01), which is NOT Mercon V or Mercon LV according to Mazda Technical Service Bulletin 0500116. This fluid is made by Idemitsu Kosan (according to the label on the back of the Mazda bottle). Idemitsu sells the equivalent Type-M fluid in the aftermarket. The equivalent Ford fluid is FNR5 (Ford part number: XT-9-QMM5). Moreover, Mazda vehicles have "M V" written on the dipstick handle." Mazda type M5 ATF is not the same fluid as Ford Mercon V or Ford Mercon LV. Mazda type M5 ATF has a greater viscosity than Ford Mercon V and Ford Mercon LV in low temperatures. Mazda type M5 ATF has a greater anti-judder specification than Ford Mercon V and Ford Mercon LV.
