My wife and I just bought a 2024 Subaru Outback. It's a trim level lower than the Limited. We live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where we usually get quite a bit of snow. After reading reviews online , doing research and talking to Subaru owners, we found the cost, safety ratings, and overall driving experience made the Outback the best choice. We love it so far!

You’re right about the wireless charging pad. I have a 2023 Outback Touring XT and my iPhone will charge for a few minutes and then stop. Also the phone gets very warm. Owners on Subaru Outback forums report the same issue. Basically, the charging pad is worthless.

They’re all useless in Subarus defense. They don’t charge at the same wattage might as well hard wire

I opted for the limited 2.5. very happy with it! The best part of the eyeball scanner is the automatic settings changes between drivers. Especially on road trips as you change drivers throughout the trip... it automatically adjusts the seats, mirrors, radio presets... it's nice. You can turn off the driver monitoring if it bugs you.

I hesitated for almost 8 years on the purchase of this car mostly for one compelling reason..... I just do not like the 11.5 inch "infotainment" screen. Last month I finally took the plunge and after a few thousand miles I can confirm that so far I am more distracted by this screen. I'm tweaking as many features as possible to set them to not requiring another screen-tap. Auto start-stop is one that will never go away unless I purchase and install a $90 module and risk voiding the warranty. Phone calls & music still demand screen taps.... working on that. The built-in Subaru voice commands are not as smart as Google and require a specific dialog

Just bought one andloving it so far. Far more comfortable and quieter than my 2012 Outback which gave my 120,000 trouble-free miles (except for the transmission, which was replaced for free by Susbabu at 96,000 miles).

I’m glad you’re enjoying it! Did your 2013 have an extended warranty or why did Subaru replace it?
@stevenmqcueen757611 ай бұрын
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 It was a 2012. Yes, when the tranny went out we were told that Subaru had extended the warranty to 100,000 miles, so we were just under the wire. Subaru paid for everything including $1,000 to have the car delivered from southern NJ to our dealer in northern NJ. My only gripe with the 2012 ia that the CVT drones someth8ing awful. The Outback CVT is very quiet.

I was checking this car some time ago, as I like station wagons, as an alternative to SUV. We decided not to buy it, for several reasons: Cramped interior space, especially in the back, not enough room for your legs, the smallest wheelbase among other midsize brands. Cheap looking dash board, lower quality materials, High price, for reasonable equipped car you would need to spend some $36,000-$38,000. I think it's time for Subaru for thoroughly redesign this model. I am pretty sure they make this specific model with little engineering/mechanical changes since 2010 year, correct me if I m wrong... Yes, they changed some body panels, there were some interior changes and added cladding.
@ChopperChad11 ай бұрын
They did redesign it. Probably a 2025 model release.

Spring for the XT if you can. The non-turbo Outback is way too underpowered. I just upgraded to a Wilderness with the turbo and I am telling you, it is a night and day difference.

Can you turn off all of these many features like the eyeball monitoring? Do they stay off as a saved preference? Or, must you keep turning it off?
@AutomotiveAnonymous20811 ай бұрын
You can turn off a lot of them, I’m unsure about the mitigation, maybe that could be turned off through the settings. 🤷♂️😅

would you say the 2024 outback 2.5 NA is slower or about the same as the forester 2.5 NA?
@AutomotiveAnonymous20810 ай бұрын
Butt Dyno feels the same! Although the Outback weighs a few hundred pounds more, it may on average be .1-.2 seconds slower in the same environment. 🙂

Does any of the outback trims have remote start? Nobody talk about it
@AutomotiveAnonymous20810 ай бұрын
Yeah! Any of them that have the proximity key can get the remote start and climate adjustment and stuff like that through the MySubaru app subscription. Kinda stinks that it’s a subscription. I think I paid 180& total for the first 4 years, I’m sure a renewal will be more expensive. Or you can pay for the physical permanently additional remote start key fob. 🙂
@kippywylie2 ай бұрын
There's also the My Subaru app where you can remote start and set the AC or heat. I think the car will run for 10 minutes max

What's the red / green / orange lights that appeared in the windshield when you started it up?
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Жыл бұрын
That’s Subaru’s version of a very basic heads up display. Except that all it does it related to the safety features, primarily with adaptive cruise. Green in when you’re tracked onto the vehicle ahead of you. Yellow is when you start having an issue like going over a line maybe, and red is when you and the car need to slam on the breaks to prevent a near crash. Stuff like that! 🙂
@kippywylie2 ай бұрын
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208My Limited is a month old and I'm happy to already say that the crash mitigation system saved an injury. I was on a very busy street where there was homeless camps on both sides and people looking seriously compromised by drugs or alcohol. I was momentarily distracted and one of these guys suddenly dashed out in front of me... The Outback Limited alarm went crazy load and the car braked. All good
@daveg6530 Жыл бұрын
Is it quieter than the Forester inside?
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Жыл бұрын
I honestly can’t tell. I’m assuming insulation quality is similar. Maybe the Outback has a lower coefficient of drag, but you’d likely need a decibel reader to know for sure. 😲🙂

I've said this before and I'll say it again.... what is the point of clocking 0-60 in a family oriented wagon???.... If you are looking for speed and wanting to race somebody at a traffic light, then this is not the car to seek.... buy a mustang or Corvette.... And despite all their speed, let's see how well they fare against an outback in the snow.... and would you take either one of those cars off-road?.... I don't think so.... And if I'm buying an outback (which I will be soon) That's more of my focus... not how fast I can get up to 60 miles an hour... And that's why I feel this particular "test" is irrelevant to this car
@Dixler6836 ай бұрын
@devilefan… you must be an inexperienced driver or do very little real world highway driving. Quick zero to sixty capabilities are your friend when merging into high-speed traffic on the freeways.
@devilefan6 ай бұрын
@@Dixler683 .... first of all I probably have more experience than you do driving.... Secondly, I will say it again, If you are looking for a car with more passing speed or speed overall then don't look into an outback.... it has enough to get up and go for passing vehicles if you really need to and I know this because I've driven the car many times along with other Subarus because I worked for them.... and I've been driving for roughly about 40 years, how about you?

Unless you meant “medal”, in which case I will take a medal for point proven. I pray I am never merging into traffic behind you as you plod along at 40mph into 70mph traffic on a freeway ramp. But with all your experience that is unlikely to occur because you will be off-roading, laughing at all the corvettes spinning wheels in the snow laden wilderness.
