I don’t like that “gaming” has an aesthetic to it. Gaming headset, gaming mouse, gaming chair. I say that because I don’t agree that the myochair isn’t a gaming chair. It totally is if you want it to be. Nothing wrong with being a gamer and caring about your back.

I have read some people complaining about Myochair that in the normal upright position, the seat back leans too far out backwards almost at a 110 degree angle making it difficult to reach the keyboard on the desk. I have observed in review videos that the Egrochair's normal seat back position is much more upright. Have you observed this difference? Is this really an issue with Myochair? I am holding back my decision to buy this chair only because I am not sure if the back position is upright enough to sit comfortably while typing. Also, Myochair doesn't have tilt tension control which is usually available even in the cheapest office chairs. What are your thoughts about it?
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
In total it doesn't tilt back quite that far; the closest it gets is at max recline, which I can't see anyone bothering with unless they're just taking a quick power nap or something (it's definitely comfy enough for that). At full upright there is a slight incline but it has the effect of relieving pressure on your spine. That said if your arms are short enough the nyes this chair could be a challenge for getting proper reach to your peripherals. It works well enough for me, though long term use has revealed some things I'd like to be a bit different. I may do a long-term update on the chair to go over some of the things I've found that I still like and some that I no longer like.
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
As for tilt tension control, that's one of the things I'd like to see in this chair since the fixed angles of incline won't work for everyone... though this chair is in a price point that doesn't see a lot of direct competition so it's hard to be super nit picky without also accepting that in order for some of these changes to be implemented the product would have to be more expensive or use a less premium solution that might not line up with a good/consistent customer experience. I'll try and address that as well.

I bought this chair and after more than month of waiting, it’ll finally be coming to me tomorrow. Customer Service is good when you are able to reach them. I’m really excited for this chair because with the COVID situation, I’m sure me and a lot of others have been sent from the office to work at home. I’ve been working on a gaming chair, you know the ones.. and didn’t realize how uncomfortable it was after 8 hours of working. I hope this chair will do my back justice. I’ve heard/read a lot of reviews saying that the cushion of the chair is pretty firm, but out of the box I’m sure that’s to be expected and it’ll need to be broken in. Great review! Loved your thoughts and I’ll edit this comment once I’ve had some time with it to further give my thoughts. Edit: I had a whole day with it and I really really enjoy it. It’s very comfortable and although the seat is firm, it’s definitely not uncomfortable. I love the reclining feature as I use it often. I actually didn’t run into the same problems you had with things being too wobbly. Also the back lumbar support is pretty solid. If you’re coming from a gaming chair like I am, this is going to be so much more comfortable especially for working. I really enjoy this chair. The wait was definitely worth it.

You said that the seat was too firm at first, but was getting better. How does it feel now? Thanks for the great video! It’s still the only review of this chair on KZbin for some reason.
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
I'm gonna be fairly blunt: the review is rare because it's not a top shelf product, and in this particular segment the emphasis seems to be more on the best of the best a company has to offer rather than the more affordable alternatives. That said, the seat cushion is doing much better than previously. It hasn't lost a ton of firmness but I fatigue far less than I did when it was new. The leg rest is still something of a point of contention for the chair and makes me really wish you could get the head rest separate from the leg rest since that would be the best possible version of MyoChair IMHO, but different body types, inseam measurements, and potential physical needs will influence whether or not there's value in it for you. I suspect this chair will be my main for several years before I feel the need to upgrade or replace it. Thanks for checking out the video, I really appreciate that s*it! 🤙🏼🍻

How is the leg rest? I am debating on buying this chair or the Ergochair 2. I really want the leg rest, but it looks uncomfortable and not wide enough.
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
The leg rest is a mixed bag for me still: sometimes it's quite comfortable, others it hurts my legs. All sort of depends on the kind of relief I need at the time I use it and if my legs or feet are swollen at all. Most of the time I end up not using it; kinda wish this chair had the option to not include the leg rest but get the head rest, but they're a package deal at present. That said, if you have it in your budget to comfortably afford an ErgoChair 2, then that's the one I'd go with since the general consensus seems to be that it's just a nicer chair. Stands to reason, it's more expensive and has better adjustments built in.
@someWEIRDmetalguy4 жыл бұрын

I think that's all going to largely depend on the nature of your back pain, but I would suspect this chair will be a far sight better for your back than going with a more standard office chair. I know for my particular injury it's been great, though some days the firmness of the seat has me wanting to stand more often. Lumbar support is also adequate for my needs, but for more support, adjustability, and a slightly longer warranty you may want to also consider their ErgoChair 2.

Feels better than brand new since the cushion has settled in a bit, but nowhere near the point that I can feel the frame through it, even plunging my knee in to the cushion. The headrest adjusts a bit too easily and sometimes adjusts itself down, but that could honestly just be down to how I sit and move in the chair since it otherwise feels about the same. @TheManicGeek5 жыл бұрын
To this day the leg rest is still aoxed bag for me, largely depends on what my body needs at the time. Seat adjustments themselves are fine for me on this model but for someone with more specific needs it's definitely lacking finer adjustment. That said their ErgoChair line has far more granular adjustment capabilities and weight capacity, but at a higher price. Hard to get all those features loaded in to a less expensive product without compromising too hard on overall build quality.

Total height of the chair at lowest elevation on a flat surface with the headrest in the fully down position is 43" or 109.22 cm. Height of the seat bottom from the ground in the same configuration is 17.5" or 44.45 cm as measured at the front edge of the seat cushion. I've been using this chair since several weeks before this review went live, and I still can't feel any of the framework underneath it at all. You'd have to have a lot of weight for long periods time over a really long while for these cushions to start exhibiting that kind of sensation. The scenario you described seems a bit odd, but even when I dig my knee in to the chair and the cushion bottoms out it just feels like I stop, there's no noticeable plastic protuberances or anything like that to be felt, at least from the center of the chair.

Hard for me to give a professional opinion on the ErgoChair 2 having not used it personally, but just judging from the spec sheet and some things I observed in the EposVox video on the ErgoChair 2, it seems like the main reason to upgrade from the MyoChair would be for more points of articulation, greater weight support, and a longer warranty. Great review. Do you think the myo chair with headrest is a good fit for 6'1" 170 lb person with slightly broadee shoulders than average or is it 100% ergo chair 2?
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
Great question! It all sort of depends on how tall your torso is relative to the rest of your body in almost all instances, but based on my height of 5' 9" and weight of 180 (a literal dwarf by comparison) I'd say you'll probably be fine with the MyoChair. That said, if your shoulder span is much broader than 20" or so then you may find the upper back of the chair slightly uncomfortable since your shoulders would be resting on the frame of the seat back. If that's the case I'd go ErgoChair 2 all day long; it's worth it to pay a bit more for what you actually want rather than gamble with something less expensive but potentially incompatible with your body shape and size.

will the headrest be long enough for someone who is 190cm or 6'3'??
@TheManicGeek5 жыл бұрын
Good question. That would make the person roughly four inches taller than I am, and I am using the head rest most comfortably in the fully down position so that the underside of the back of my head is cradled by the hump on the headrest. Assuming the height difference is mostly in their torso, they should be fine with this head rest, though if the person were much taller I could see this being a restriction or else they might need to use the headrest a bit differently. It does offer some degree of articulation so that would help out as well.

Thank you for the excellent review - I ordered my MyoChair with the headrest and footrest this evening, and the discount coupon someone else commented on saved me another $15 - Not a huge discount, but hey, I’ll take what I can get, and $15 is still $15! I did a ton of research, and read lots of reviews and watched plenty of video reviews on KZbin. My original plan was to get the ErgoChair 2, but I like the idea of the footrest, which the ErgoChair 2 does not offer. And even though the armrests lack the side-to-side/forwards-backwards adjustability of the ones on the ErgoChair 2, I recall some other reviews of the ErgoChair 2 saying that the armrests would not lock in place, which did not sound appealing to me. As you mentioned, I also noticed that the warranty is shorter for the MyoChair, but in saving about $150 as compared to the ErgoChair 2, that’s not a huge issue for me. And besides, according to my order, the MyoChair will ship about 1 week sooner than the ErgoChair 2, and so it’s all good! Thanks again!!! 👍

the angle of the back rest is way to steep in my opinion. I bought this based on this review, and I really am not a fan of the set angle from the base of the backrest to the end.
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
Yeah my follow-up video addresses this. Going forward I actually am spending more time with chairs before committing to the reviews: the angle of the backrest combined with the arm rest caused me to develop bicep tendonitis in my right shoulder, and the ultra firm seat pan created issues as well. If I had this review to do over, I'd suggest that this is more of a casual chair that's good for controller gaming at a desk or for folks who prefer to lean a bit. I apologize if you found this to be a disingenuous review as a result; I've discovered in doing this review that there's a lot to consider with a chair, and that every person's body type will respond differently to different features and design choices.

@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
It's possible that the factories where they get the parts for their chairs still aren't at capacity with production, and so that cost has to be eaten somewhere either in profit margins or by passing the extra cost on to the consumer. Even at the time this was released the demand for affordable ergonomically sound office furniture was pretty high, so I can only imagine that demand has gotten even higher with supply struggling to keep pace, which will ultimately impact pricing. Not apologizing for it tho, that price hike sucks :-/

Well for me the chair is still doing great! The lumbar support is plenty for my needs, but it doesn't adjust outward on this chair. Can't immediately recall if it does that for the ErgoChair 2. That said I've sat in my MyoChair for over eight hours before and it was quite comfy :-)

With the majority of our time spent sitting in front of our PCs, proper posture and ergonomic seating should be more promoted by the bigger tech channels! AI seems to be the among the better value options you can get, but at the same time has very little presence on this platform. Great review with a small critique. You can be a little more in-depth when showcasing the chair with how it looks being used, different lumbar positions, height adjustments, etc. Like you, I'm certain there are many others out there who have been eyeing these particular chairs, but know very little information about them, myself included. Would love to see the Ergo Chair 2 in a future video!
@TheManicGeek5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, next time I take a look at a chair I'll be going in to a bit more detail with use of different positions. I also agree that proper chairs aren't represented enough on this or many other platforms, even though this really is the direction a person should be going to maximize enjoyment out of their desk setup, whatever their task/leisure is. As for the Ergo Chair 2, not sure if you caught the link, but in the video description there's a link to the EposVox review he did of the Ergo Chair 2, if you need a fix for it right now ;-)

Hey, thanks for the review, you actually are the only person on KZbin that reviewed the Myochair. I have a few questions if you could answer them I'd appreciate it. 1 - when you unlock the back reast such that it's in its free tilt "weightless" mode and you lean on it with all your weight (not pushing back purposely, just resting back) how far back does it go? Is there any adjustment for that counter pressure by the chair? 2 - when you lock the chair in its most upright position, how comfortable is that for working at your desk, example, writing a paper/coding, so use of keyboard for a long time. And lastly, I am looking at 3 options currently, Myochair being one of them. Below you find the other two, care to offer your opinion, they all are on the same price range post shipping and taxed: www.vikingdirect.nl/nl/p/5707807? www.bureaustoel24.nl/CAYEN-Professionele-bureaustoel.html Thanks and I hope to hear from you.
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and your questions! 1- When the chair back is not locked it will simply fall back as far as you lean in to it. I admittedly would have liked adjustable tension there but sadly at this price point it's not offered on the MyoChair. 2- the full upright position is how I sit to do my editing and serious gaming and I find it to be quite comfortable for extended sessions. The middle chair back position provides a good balance of posture and relaxed seating, though that may cause butt fatigue after a few hours. Full reclined is silly unless you're just relaxing in the chair with the foot rest out watching a movie or something. 3- I can't really speak to any of those chairs as I have never used them, but on a cursory glance I'd say you're probably better off with the MyoChair. That said don't spend outside of your budget: if either of those other chairs provide the features you're looking for at a price point that makes sense to you then grab one of those instead. It will still be better than some cheap "executive chair" that does nothing for you ergonomically.

A small update on my end. I went ahead and placed an order with these guys only to receive an email later saying that my transaction has been flagged as suspicious and that I needed to provide a scan of my ID and used bank card showing the last 4 digits of my card. I did some digging and went straight to TrustPilot (I don't know why I didn't read that before ordering) and it seems like the company has a very bad reputation there. This of course could be due to the current crisis (since out of the 15 reviews only 2 are before Jan 2020). Nevertheless, receiving a very generic email signed by "Jen from Autonomous" with a link to where I am asked to upload my ID is highly suspicious. Lucky for me my transaction is still pending and will automatically be refunded within a week from purchase. Another check I did not do before ordering is the domain .ai which belongs to Anguilla, a Caribbean island. That is a suspicious and weird choice. Additionally, despite your positive experience with customer support, I believe that you're one of the lucky few, particularly being a KZbin reviewer. They seem to have a so-called VIP list (TrustPilot) and it wouldn't surprise me if you happened to be on that list. Of course, it could also be that US orders get better service. This is however another disappointment as they advertise to have a warehouse located in the Netherlands, thereby making me assume EU orders would be of equal importance. Thoughts, experiences or speculations are highly welcomed. Lastly, I would not recommend this for anyone living in the EU. @@ahmedvalentinkassem8894 My customer service experience had zero to do with my "status" as a reviewer. Never min that my channel has effectively zero reach; this review was conducted as a consumer, the same as any of you watching this video. If I speak well of a product or service it's based purely on direct, personal experience... which is a sample size of one. Would that I could make several individual orders to test the mettle of a customer service team but that's not a realistic scenario for most consumers, which is who I'm trying to reach with my content, not those engaged in B2B (business to business) sales and purchasing. As to the strangeness of your order experience... that's a tough one. I can't say I know exactly why that would have happened, but I think Jen was the one I dealt with when I had my customer service experiences. It's good that you put in your due diligence with an email like that; can't say I'd have been much more comfortable with it than you were. Did you try calling Autonomous to verify that that's an email you should have gotten? I usually do that when I get potentially questionable emails just to make sure everything is Kosher.

Autonomous ergochair only has a 2 year warranty which says a lot about the company and their confidence in the chair. Get a chair with a real 10+ year warranty!
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
Warranty duration doesn't mean everything, but it does help instill consumer confidence, sure. Example: I've owned cars with three year warranties and ten year warranties, and both were equally decent vehicles. Did either fully break down? No. We're either not worth the buy? Subjectively no since they both worked. Also you're paying for that longer warranty whether you realize it or not, and for the duration this chair's warranty had lasted I've been quite satisfied with my purchase and would buy it again... only I'd leave the footrest off, most likely x-).
@Smood474 жыл бұрын
@@TheManicGeek Yup I agree with you. Maybe this chair will last 10 years... but I doubt it. Why not get a chair with a far superior warranty for probably not much more money? Especially when you factor in 10 years of use.
@TheManicGeek4 жыл бұрын
@@Smood47 Well part of the reasoning there is that this was a first-time consumer experience: I directly mention that I've not ever owned a chair like this before and so went in to the review the same way any other consumer who stumbled upon the Autonomous website would have: looked at the stats, saw the price, liked the style and apparent feature set, pulled the trigger. If I get the chance to start taking a look at other office furniture that will definitely provide me with more context moving forward on how to weigh chairs like the Autonomous chair vs others with differing warranty periods. I haven't personally ever known anyone to keep an office chair for more than 3-5 years before it falls apart on them and they just end up buying a new one anyway, and I've largely been in that same boat until now. I fully intend on doing a long-term update on this and the rest of my setup gear when the time is right, and I'll be addressing some of the things commenters here have brought up, your comment included :-)

It sucks they're not getting back to you as quickly as you'd prefer, but just to offer some perspective: I ordered a Kinn Chair to review well over aonth ago and only got it in around two weeks ago, so you're not alone there. Not saying you shouldn't be frustrated over delays, but literally everything involving shipping is taking forever these days; either that or things are arriving sooner than expected. @@TheManicGeek in my personal opinion I prefer the look of the secret lab titan whichis why I ended up ordering the titan, since I commented ive had it for just over a week and for me its perfectly ergonomic and everything has a really premium feel and I can sit in it for hours and have also had a nap in it, but the main factors though that pushed me towards the titan is the lumbar support and having the ability to customise the depth and support it provides as I get really bad lower back pain and also the armrest being adjustable.
