What year? Just Imp or Wrx/STi? I really want to buy a 2.5Rs and swap out the engine/transmission with an 2.5 ej205/207. I would even settle for an 04 WRB STi, but as time goes on, and depending on what part of the world you live in the options are dwindling day after day. I live in Oregon and most older WRX/STi are ridiculous when it comes to pricing and mileage. It’s becoming painfully apparent I’ll have to look for a newer year/model. Parts are just too expensive and they’re always being modded which is fine if you intend on keeping the car like I would. The newer models from my perspective are way less rally spirited, and more like every other sedan stylizing on the road. Slightly longer wheel base, different engine even. Also I’m not a fan of the wing design lol. Reminds me of an EVO… I said it. Before my time, or before combustion is no more I must own one of these beautiful machines. My brother had an 02 and 06 STi. I guess that’s where most of my affinity stems from. Sorry, all I was trying to say was I’m happy for you! 😎

He's talking about the difference between the Delta S4, and the Delta intagrale HF which is the one listed. The Delta S4 i the group B variant boasting 500hp an runs a supercharger, and turbo charger simultaneously for a seamless acceleration like how an NA engine would run essentially. The HF Intagrale came into scene after the group days and only ran around 290hp.

MC Taipan group b was so lax we dont really know what they really ran considering they would sometimes just bump up the boost for select stages.

Following this logic we really know nothing about power outputs, because rally engines actually had different powers depending on spec prepared for each rally. We only know that ports couldn't be bigger than something, and some parts lighter than something because that was written in homologation. Power outputs seem to be wrong in many cars. The stratos for example had 265 to 320 depending on engine version.

I would say the number one should be either the Lancia Stratos or the Audi Sport Quattro. The Integrale is a great car but it shrinks when it comes to comparation between rally legends like Stratos, Quattro, S4 or 205 T16

There is no way that a Lancia Delta Integrale is better than the cars that began it all: Lancia Stratos and Audi Quattro

Nice list! All of those cars are rally legends. And of course in every "greatest rally car list" everything else is up for a debate and little bit of matter of taste even, but there is always only one possible choice for number one, The Holy Graale ;)

The Celica truly was a beast and the drivers that went with it were equally as good. It's such a shame that limitations from group A are such unequal standards. Come on. 400 hp? Really? It should be more like 7-8kg/hp.

thatoriordanlad also the 1600/1800 was by far the most raced used rally car ever in history by privateers for not only one of the best chassis around for Rallying at any level, it was easy to come by as were parts they were cheap relatively to anything else, watch any Rally race today and that vintage class is one of the most popular supported, the cars still run great for spectators, nothing quite goes round-or thru a corner like a Ford Escort, the RS2000 was the pinnacle but it came too late, was too rare and expensive for most but the pro teams.

Man the old days really were the best.. just look at all different shapes, so cool! Todays WRC's are all the same hatchback shape so there's nothing different to look at, and that is quite boring :( Love love love the Alpine, to think someone turned that beauty of a car and took it rallying and in rally spec looked even MORE beautiful, awesome!

Actually the last 2WD cars winning against 4WDs were Ford Sierra Cosworth (RWD, group A, Rally Corsica 1988) and Renault 5 GT Turbo (FWD group N, Bandama Rally 1989)

The specifications for the #1, the Delta, are actually the ones of a Delta S4, with 460hp 1800cc and 890kg..., the delta from the video had max 300 hp.
