I am currently trying to choose between the Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum ($43,000, 280 horsepower) and the Ford Explorer Sport ($50,000, 365 horsepower). If the Explorer was closer to the price of the Highlander, I would buy one today - but the $7,000 price difference is kind of a showstopper for me. For $50,000 the Sport Edition should have catback exhaust ($800) and a cold air intake ($250). That would put the horsepower over 400. Then, buyers could buy a computer tuner ($250), bump up the performance to around 425 and improve gas mileage at the same time.

Rented the 2016 Explorer Limited. Its a much better SUV than the previous version. The standard 6 cylinder was ok in acceleration though i'd probably opt for the turbo 6. I like the vehicle.

Learned something new with the keypad thank you for tips. I love my 2016 Limited, but there are a couple of issues. Throttle body, seat pan is short for taller people and in some models wind noise/vibration caused by aerodynamics was an issue when I put some highway miles on the SUV. Dealer took care of everything in the end. Still a super nice car and packed with tons of features. adaptive cruise control is the best with lane assist.

Yeah for me I have the same Ford Explorer sport 2016 still works great after 5 to 6 years of usage the only issues I had is the cheap quality plastic also I here these weird cheap plastic quality sounds I really agree with you the cruise control is one of the best features in ford I had a light that is esc service required

I always thought the Explorer Sport looked best in the color red in the previous body style. The dark grey looked good also with the dark trim and black wheels. I've never been a fan of bright white on cars. Off-white with a brownish hue looks nicer in my opinion. This is a nice refresh by Ford. I love the Ecoboost V6 but the mileage on premium gas isn't that great.

Farzana Basheer Absolutely love it. I researched and test drove the Explorer Sport. Comparable to the Durango Citadel, but a little smaller and it requires premium fuel for the Ecoboost V6 engine. The salesman who went on the test drive with my wife and I, just sat in the second row seat and played on his smartphone. He never showed any interest in trying to sell me the Explorer. That turned me off to buying a Ford.

365 hp/350 Torque is pretty impressive out of that v6. I wish Toyota can figure out a way to spurce up their current 4Runners. That 4.0 L v6 can easily get above 290hp hp. Which would have been fine, but the 4Runner is very heavy and you can feel the engine work to get the vehicle moving.

+Jarrod Glenn I've had a vast collection of SUV from Ford to jeep, and Toyota. I wouldn't trade my 2015 limited for anything. It has everything that I want and has that self adjusting suspension which makes the ride better. I feel that the engine is being throttled back by computers from Toyota. At times I can swear the engine is putting out way more than than the 280hp it claims. Ford has been patchy with me. Mostly due to control quality in the past. Seems like the newer models have issues. The older Fords ran like a dream and reliably

+aky19832001 same here when it comes to SUVs. Currently have a 2001 Ford Explorer and now the 16 explorer sport. I just came out of a 13 ford raptor which I abused the hell out of and was very impressed with ford. We needed more room and I wanted a Eco boost so the 4Runner had to go. Never gave us any problems but being on a Tacoma frame and you mentioned the fact it needed help getting up to speed I didn't care for it. That being said I don't think I'll get the value I did out of the explorer when it's time to trade up but it has everything we need. Only issue I had was nav is not standard and no universal garage door opener with the explorer. If Toyota would have included things like hands free lift gate, 3rd row standard, hids and spruced up the interior I wouldn't have minded going with another 4Runner. We had the sr5 premium and wanted to move up into a limited but for the price we got the sport with extra added features I decided to go that route.

I have a 2013. the only thing I don't like is how the seats feel...not comfortable on long drives...seat bottom seems too short and agree that black interior seats don't cool down enough...all else...love it. wish gas mileage was better.

Had just purchased a blk one 6 months ago, sexy as hell . I was rear ended last week and they totaled it out on me😩😩, just found a white one for sale same interior and picked it up immediately. Very nice ride all the way around, great features, and just looks good in and out. This system allows you to choose different terrain settings for the intelligent 4WD system depending on what conditions you are driving in. Desert/Snow/Gravel a.s.o

Ford cooled seats do not blow cold air on you, the air seeps out and cools your back and ass. You're hot up front, it won't cool the mass of air volume other than around your backside. . I have an F150 with them. They are likely the same.

Looks good! They had one of those in the showroom when we bought our escape a few weeks back in the Electric Spice / orange color. Looked pretty sharp but a little out of our comfortable price range and needs....I think the larger 22" wheels would look good on it IMO. Been back there a few times this week. We picked one of the first 2016 Escapes on the lot and it came with a problem it took them a few tries to figure out. Turned out being a defective manufactured CV axle joint. Brand new CV axle in along with new brake rotors and front tires (their first thoughts) but we can go pick it up this evening....a little early for those kind of maintenance items with only a few hundred miles on the clock but they finally did find the source of the rotational noise. Maybe we were able to create a TSB to help the other service guys.

I can't complain much about this car but I've had my issues with it. My Power take off broke after having it for about 1 year. My side view mirrors had to get replaced 3 times since they kept getting jammed and the stock tires are terrible, they wear off within 30k miles. I didn't have to pay for anything besides the tires, make sure to get the warranty, the Power take off alone would have come out to 2.5k.

MrPuRpLeHaZ3 Extremely easy to use mobile playlist. Battery power of your self-phone reduce slower. I have kia sportage 2015 and I really like aux, very useful ) But Explorer really cool car. I think Explorer will be my next car. Ford company have to add aux to Explorer 2017 or 2018

+MrPuRpLeHaZ3 actually, Bluetooth is worse than an aux. In my experience, i've had better sounding music when I use the aux. There is a noticeable difference in the highs, mids and lows, plus it distorts less. Wired in aux will always sound better than wireless/bluetooth. less things to transmit, etc. I can see why aux is popular to use in cars

i guess some cars are different because in my 2014 ford focus when i use auxiliary audio input i get about half the volume i do when i use Bluetooth. but ever since i got a sub in my car i haven't tried aux so maybe ill try to see if my lows are better than bluetooth

I have a 16 explorer sport and on the back of the vehicle its missing the ecoboost badge. Every sport I see has the ecoboost badge on it. Does anyone know why?

I think you can choose if you want the EcoBoost engine or not

But on my window sticker its says ECOBOOST engine. I've talked to Ford ann they cant figure it out. I went on the Ford website to build an explorer, and see about the engine, and it didn't give me the option to build it with or without ecoboost.

I've had similar situations in the past with both my Avalanche and the new Impala, where there were FlexFuel and V6 badges that should've been there ain't weren't. There's a pretty knowledgeable dealer I can ask here in Atlanta though; I'll see if he has any answers. I'm pretty sure you can request they badge it for you, come to think about it. Even on my Impala the V6 badge had a part number.
