@wulfendisease6 жыл бұрын
The entire Nightmare album was supposed to be a concept album following the life of a soldier with PTSD. Then when the Rev died it kinda turned into something similar, but the first 5 songs were linked to this first initial theme. Then the rest of the album were written more for the Rev.

Avenged Sevenfold - I won't see you tonight pt 1&2. Part one was my favorite until The Stage came out, and I've been following them since Sounding the Seventh (their first album). I believe i read somewhere that it was about their former bassist who had problems with suicidal depression, but i can't seem to find where i read it so i might be wrong. The song does deal with some deep shit though, and all together, its beauty and complexity is top notch. I think you guys will really enjoy listening to it and am interested to hear any insights you have/what you take away from it.
@soulsfang6 жыл бұрын
This song was composed for Justin Sane due to his attempts to commit suicide, this included when he was a member of the band, they removed him from the band due to the stress and upset it was causing them. That is the meaning. - Reddit post (super reliable source XD) not the first place i've read it though. I'll see if i can find more reliable source

I love Avenged Sevenfold, it's the band that got me into metal. Then shortly into deathcore, deathmetal, and metalcore. I loved the analysis!! Please do Silent Planet - Panic Room. It is a song about the bands friend's story with PTSD from being overseas fighting for the U.S. Army.

Just wanted to say that i honestly could not tell you why i enjoy watching these kinds of music reaction videos. I guess it's me sat here in the UK watching two complete strangers across the world discover and rock out to songs i love and have on my every-day play list (also your reactions to the awesome moments within songs that i know are coming). Your channel was randomly recommended to me but I've watched a few videos of you guys and even though it's just me watching you listening to a song, you are entertaining; and that aspect on two individuals is super rare. So thank you and keep it up :) P.S I urge you to listen to more Avenged Sevenfold. Nightmare is an amazing song with one of the best/most fun drum tracks ever in a rock song in my opinion. Also some more Five Finger Death Punch. Hard to See, Gone Away and House of the Rising Sun; all fantastic songs.

Also when they were buried alive back then thats where the term Saved by the Bell came from was because if the person woke they could ring that bell by pulling the string going from the inside of their coffin to the bell above their grave and the groundskeeper would hear them and possibly save them. It's cool learning about this in a museum like I did, they had a whole setup where a person laid in a fake coffin and could pull the string.

I am Catholic (tho no particular expert). There is a traditional belief that people who are cremated must wait until the end of the apocalypse to get into heaven. The Catholic Church softened its stance on this belief during the Black Plague when the best way to safely handle the dead was through a Funeral Pyre... On a separate note about being buried alive, there's an episode of Poldark where one of the villagers is declared dead, last rites read and he's wrapped in burial cloths. On the third day of laying in state he suddenly gets up, the nuns watching over him scream and pass out. Later the guy talks about walking into the tavern (still in his burial cloths) and people in the tavern dive out of the doors and windows. He complains about having to serve himself because the tavern was empty by the time he reached the bar 😆 Just a hilarious thought process.

The song was actually specifically written for the Rev because of him going out the way he did the lead singer in the whole band were shocked and it pretty much angered them that he took his own life instead of letting the condition that he had take him. This song was put before all the other songs to make a point that they were not happy at all they were in a depressed state.

The whole Nightmare album exept for Danger Line and title track are in some way about Rev, so you are right Vin. But people often think that songs from other albums are also about him although the band stated that they are not. The last song A7X wrote about The Rev was St James, the bonus track from the album that came after Nightmare.

I completely understand what Sori is trying to say about being alone. I would say it is like going to a party where you don't know anybody. You show up by yourself and when you get there you realize you don't know anybody maybe just one person the one that invited you, and for some reason they never seem to be around. So you are surrounded by people you are literally not alone but you feel alone. That is just one example I have felt alone without being alone many times and I think that was what she was getting at.
