3:45 the moment you realize this song isn't about being a gun-touting, flag raising American. It's about questioning your own countries decisions to label particular regions the enemy and the effects that go with those decisions. Decisions that are ultimately made by people who don't care whether or not those soliders make it home to their families. As much as you can say to love and support our Troops--maybe think about the mixed messages you send by the signs displayed on both sides of your brand, D-Gibby

My thoughts: the first verse is about the soldiers PTSD. He’s looking at flashbacks after returning home and feels like he’s a cold blooded murderer pretending to be a civilian. “Give me to the courage to stand up and fight” my interpretation is that he needs others help him “fight” and get him through the depression

This song hits deep for me, as does Danger Line. I was in Iraq from 2003 to 2005 with 2-70 and the 82nd. And I went back 2007-2009 and 2010-2011 and I left from there 3 months into it in 2013 after I watched our then president allow the rise of ISIS into a dominant fighting force because he was too chicken shit. How many times did we have to retake Mosul and Fallujah because Obama was letting Joe Biden cut money every year from ground assault troops and special operations out of the defense budget. I dropped on the ground as an E3 in 2003 with 260 rounds and so much extra weight I dreaded having to move posts. By 2011, if we had an engagement, we had 150 round. 100 in 2013. I wasn't about to sit there and think I may get held up in an all night dance with ISIS or the Taliban and not have the tools to complete my job. Not when ISIS preferred not to kill you on spot, but took you back and tortured or beheaded you as an example. Obama-Biden preferred to ship missiles through front doors of churches and synagogues, but they wouldn't send anyone out there to verify who they really killed because they didn't want to have to explain the innocent men and women and children who died when they found out they didn't kill their intended targets. That's why Obama actually sent a SEAL team in Bin Laden. I reenlisted in 2016, and just finished my 20 years. While my fighting days were over, I supported the younguns who went in, fully equipped, and took Mosul one last time in 2017. People may think Trump is a piece of shit, but he's been the best president that I've served under. I absolutely do not believe he said any of that Losers and Suckers bullshit based on the first two paragraphs of the Atlantic article, and 21 people, including Trump enemy John Bolton came forward and said that was bullshit. If I can refuse to voluntarily allow any VIP in our vehicles because the Uniform Code of Military Justice tells me that I can be punished for putting that person's life at risk in the instance of zero visibility, then that Marine is going to make the same call for the president of the US. No visibility, no ride. Even if a black hawk can fly in rain it doesn't do you any good if your visibility is less than a mile when traveling at 200+ mph.

I discovered Avenged Sevenfold because of my father in middle school, they were the first metal band I got deeply invested in. Before I discovered them (I know it’s gonna sound cliche because it was middle school and all), I was deeply depressed. Kids used to pick on me and beat me up on the school bus. When I found Avenged Sevenfold, I was contemplating suicide. Instead I spent that entire day listening to their whole discography. I wouldn’t be here to this day if it wasn’t for them

Staring at the carnage, praying that the sun will never rise Living another day in disguise These feelings can't be right Lend me your courage to stand up and fight, on tonight Stand up and fight Now fighting rages on and on To challenge me you must be strong I'll walk your land but don't be long Two million soldiers can't be wrong Its no fun but I've been here before I'm far from home and I'm fighting your war (Not the way I pictured this, I wanted better things) Some are scared others killing for fun, I shot a mother in front of her son (Change this from my consciousness and please erase my dreams) Fight for honor, fight for your life Pray to god that our side is right You know we won but still we lose, until I make it home to you I see your mother filled with tears we grew up so fast where did those years go Memories won't let you cry unless I don't return tonight So many soldiers on the other side, I take their live so they don't take mine (Scared to make it out alive now murders all I know) Nobody tells me all the reasons were here, I am a weapon so there's nothing to fear (Another day another life but nothing real to show for) Fight for honor, fight for your life Pray to god that our side is right You know we won but still we lose, until I make it home to you I see your mother filled with tears we grew up so fast where did those years go Memories won't let you cry unless I don't return tonight Staring at the carnage, praying that the sun will never rise Living another day in disguise These feelings can't be right, lend me your courage to stand up and fight Watching the death toll rise wondering how I'm alive Strangers blood on my hands, shot all I can There were no silent nights watching your brothers all die To destroy all their plans with no thought of me (no thought of me) No thought of me Walk the city lonely Memories that haunt are passing by A murderer walks your street tonight Forgive me for my crimes, don't forget that I was so young Fought so scared in the name of God and country
