TBH, I went into this drama with fairly low expectations as well since I wasn’t too sure of LYN/Liu Tao’s chemistry but this drama has turned out to be so much more amusing & light-hearted than I thought! It’s an extremely easy watch and now I know what Liu Tao meant when she said that it wasn’t necessarily a comedic drama but bc of his role/presence, it has turned into a comedic drama hahahaha. It’s like a light meal on a hot summer day; it’s not super filling & not heavy on the meat but it isn’t stuffy and therefore leaves me feeling pretty good afterwards 🤣

I really liked Liu Yu Ning since the Long ballad. ( He is really very tall😂) Since then I started following his live streams as well. I went into this drama without much expectations but I find myself smiling ear to ear. It is a little stupid at times and silly but that is what I am enjoying so far. Liu Yuning in contemporary drama and behaving in a funny way in the situations is really refreshing from all his serious roles. It is not a heavy or business focused one. Everyone looks normal despite their silly behaviours. It is something that I watch while waiting for new episodes of Lost you forever.

This is soooo much better than the current 2 idol dramas I have been watching until I could not bear the silliness any longer. This drama surpassed my expectation & carries a punchy, fast-moving pace. No silly plot line. Have to add that this drama is well picked by female lead at this stage of her career. Matched with Liu Yuning who is like acting as his natural self, the story line has credibility & depth of meaning. 😄👍

People had low expectation about this drama, including me. Surprisingly I also end up enjoying this so far. I get it now why Youku put this on their summer drama list, and even broadcasted on Jiangsu TV prime time, i found this drama is fun to watch while eating dinner with your family or friends. It's light-hearted, funny, but consistently giving us the essence of a workplace story. I tried watching this for LYN as it is his first modern drama, but didn't expect i'd be engrossed with the 3 FLs story too. I think the leads' acting so far are natural and complement each other very well, plus the nice screenwriting make it very comfortable to watch. I hope the upcoming episodes will still have the good quality!

I was watching one of those weirdly titled Chinese drama videos on KZbin that takes random 5-8 minutes scenes from a drama and I was shocked and pleasantly surprised that the female lead spoke of having an abortion. The main couple have divorced and they saw each other again at a friend's wedding and they had this really honest, no shouting conversation about the end of their relationship and she frankly told him she had an abortion. The scene was not done in judgement or shaming way. The male lead was surprised about her decision but he didn't berate her. The characters were in their late 30s so not young 22 year olds. Chinese romantic dramas continue to surprise me.

Guilty to admit that I did think this one was going to be full of heavy workplace drama and so I decided to skip. 😅 Sounds like another one to add to my list of dramas to check. But I'll probably wait till the very end to see if it ends on a good note first. From your review I feel like I'll enjoy it though. Comedy, no forced romance, solid character set up, and Liu Yu Ning!

i loved this drama, from its flawed heroine who lost everything and learned the important things in life to its wonderful ensemble cast that portrays the women's struggle's from all perspectives. the romance was slow burn and extremely cute

I like him both as a singer and an actor coz nowadays most of the actors are like flower type. Liu Yuning might not be the most handsome but he has this soft and manly side at the same time. He has this strong aura in screen.

drama was a bit clunky introducing all the character arcs initially but there's many golden lines here from FL on how to pick yourself back up again and enjoy life in all its colors. Also pretty sure they use instrumentals from historical dramas in strong-hitting scenes (e.g., when she puts her designated driver vest on in front of the kids) that is quite impactful.

I think one has to have a good feel for human relationships to be a good reviewer, and you certainly qualify here as well as in most other qualities necessary for the job. This drama sounds interesting and I will keep it in mind for future watching. But truthfully, I chose it for the title, "Be Your Own Light". This is good advice for your planning the future of your channel. I agree whole heartedly with what you said today. You can't be tied down to a job which is too boring and repetitive. Life is too short for that. But, you still plan to do some drama reviews and hopefully can spend more time on good dramas and less on the many lousy ones. You are soooo good at what you do, and seem to love doing it when you have something to work with, that it would be sad to see you leave reviewing completely! I am confident that you will find more enjoyable and fulfilling uses for any time freed up from this change. I watched an online review of a previous costume period drama of Liu Yu Ning in 2022, Heroes. He's a good actor in portraying a dark character from a good person who transformed into dark, abusive, mean, and sadistic. I have not watched the series yet, but when I saw his expression, sometimes the streamlines were played. But to be honest, Idk whether or not his voice was dubbed.

I like the actress who is the main character there... As for drama, I liked it but actually I thought it would be more vivid or maybe I didnt like the male actor there. Dunno, something was lack for me to give 10 rate to it. For me maybe 7 of 10 for it 🤔

This was anything but funny and light for me. It was personally triggering and may be trigger for violence against women for someone else. I was prepared to enjoy this and was until the FL is kidnapped and the police convince her to not submit charges. Worse, her kidnappers--and the ML! --continue to harass her even threatening to hurt her and her son. The misogyny was shocking. It would have been a great opportunity for the writer to do a social critique here, but instead it is completely dismissed and the FL has to bear the punishment. This was the first time I wanted to swear at a drama.

I love Liu Yuning but I did not like his character in this drama. He had no personality and existed just for the female lead's convenience. If she said jump, he would ask how high. They were both boring. Their relationship was boring and was very unbalanced. He did everything for her. She did nothing for him. Other characters were more interesting. Also, 40 episodes was way too long. Everything could've been settled in less than 30 episodes.
