Oh, I love the bonsai projects!! I once tried to attach one to a rock as well but it didn't work out for me either 😂 I later found out that the trick is to drape the roots around the rock and properly secure them with some wire. Otherwise they don't really attach. Seeing your little trees, I'm really tempted to give bonsai another shot though

I would do a clip and grow method with the tree to shape it instead of wiring it let it grow out and trim it back to shape

Did you plant the avocado plants in gritty mix? Is that better than regular potting mix?

I used a combination of Coco coir and Pon. As long as you have good drainage it should be fine

He spends a lot of time talking about soil mix for bonsais, promoting good root development, etc. I'm glad I found this video -- I just started an avocado to grow indoors and am looking for inspiration. What type of soil are you using for the majority of your plants?

I am currently using a mix of coco coir and perlite. I find that they need soil that is well draining but holds onto water well

It grew a few new branches however they started to crisp up after I went away for a while and it wasn't watered. It is bouncing back now
