Hi there, great video, I have an 4 year old avocado grown from seed, I have grafted 4 scions onto it, at what point do I remove the film I used on the scion? They have been on the tree for 4 weeks now and I don’t see them growing through the film, they are still green though. I’m not sure if the film I used is the kind that allows the scion shoots to grow through it.

He talks about sterilizing the secateurs and then uses a rusted box cutter to cut the scion and root stock.
@TropicalGardenGuy2 жыл бұрын
Yup! While not ideal, a slightly rusted, but sterile knife worked just fine. The grafted tree is now huge

Do you have any avocado trees for sale? I'm a Fresno local and would love to obtaining a fruiting tree.
@TropicalGardenGuy4 жыл бұрын
No, sorry, In the spring Lowes and Home Depot sells them

@@TropicalGardenGuy Thank you for the response. After watching all your videos relating to avocados, I've decided to give grafting a try. I'm purchasing a few young plants locally. I'm planning to order the scion wood online. Are you willing to ship some of your lamb hass scion by any chance? I'd be willing to purchase some from you as well :).

Contact me in spring, i may have some extra budwood
@thunderthao3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, just following up on our previous conversation. I'd be more than happy to pick up some of your bud if you have some available this spring.

Good video, I suggest you show people using a glove on the hand holding the rootstock when you cut the rootstock open. Your method is not safe to me, I always require my grafting students to use one glove so no rush to emergency is necessary for cuts.

Thanks for the tip. My next grafting video will be her first . Those razor knives can be a booger

This would have been perfect if you actually photographed his action instead of his hands only as he made the cuts. Thx for the info tho.
