I unplug mine sometimes when I want the fan to STFU, since it's the only way I found to actually make it run on less power / heat and make the fan quiet. The "performance settings" don't seem to change anything. Performance unplugged are barely impacted but the fan either stops or barely turns. Not a "gaming laptop" though. Lenovo Ideapad with Ryzen 5 5625U and integrated graphics. It plays some games, up to Deep Rock Galactic. I hate noise. To be fair, with laptops like this, battery life is expected to be poor, even with ones with integrated graphics. For anyone who was thinking to buy but after this video is reluctant let me assist you all.. this is best laptop for gaming at this price point if your budget is higher then no question you can have whichever you want but for the price normally a gamer would not game unplugged and still it gives 3 hour battery life at 60 whr battery ...and similar graphics with intell 12450h also last the same on battery despite having igpu so chill and i have used this laptop the thermals are actually really good cpu usage never go above 60 percent and gpu temp always below 70 degrees so for long term its a good point to consider.

Absolutely agree with you. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and I am surpised with gaming performance but also on how quiet and smooth it is when on balanced mode. My personal experience with AMD is superb after roughly 2 months of intensive use. I think the entire point of the video is off. The only limitations I came across with this configuration (7435 and RTX 4060) are low lugg when in Ray tracing mode and mediocre speakers. Probably similar experience with i5 minus the bricked motherboard scare that is associated with loq machines and intel cpus. If battery life is that important you should compare the 2.5 hrs autonomy here with probably a maximum of 4 hrs with intel. It's up to someone's priorities with a bulky gaming laptop

Now I ordered another 8G 5600MT SODIMM and a fast NVME gen4 storage to fill the spare slots. I think the LOQ got dised by influences because it shipped without dual channel ram. the only aspect with batterly life that comes to mind is being a student and wanting to limit your carry/weight/bag footprint TBH...and well most students that also want to game...are willing to make compromises......theyll consider bringing a type c charging brick...or a plug-able type c portable charger and sit near an outlet etc...if necessary and on a tight budget...theyll adapt/overcome XD....but TBH if you set the screen to 60hz/automatic when unplugged and lower brightness for some note/taking building a study guide off a lecture or etc...some 3d/modeling design or engineering majors....they can still get good use out of a laptop/battery with a mux and a brick to charge/sustain over a course of early college when theyre enduring many class/hours etc. OFC at home or etc at the apt/dorm etc they can have a dedicated desk/workstation to charge and external monitor etc to maximize their systems viability. PPL act like 10 years ago the majority of students didnt have to be plugged in using laptops etc frankly...and a system like this on a budget is no exception to the POTENTIAL value and viability to someone that wants a laptop that can also game to enjoy their free time on a tight/limiited budget Or have to settle for some kind of thin/n light ultrabook or a macbook + a console for gaming at home. TBH even gaming portables are pretty interesting since you can use an e-gpu enclosure for at home/monitor/tv needs...(opposed to an ipad+ keyboard from a cost/range standpoint)and still have a mini/portable pc for lighter workloads like jotting down notes or using some cloud/based suites etc for school+ its storage viability. Possibly a plug/in foldable keybaord just for those school/tasks then boom the "mandatory" station for larger workloads and gaming. I mean engineering and design majors do benefit from a beefier system no doubt...typically going to an apple M chip these days...but for ppl that want to game....the LOQ/nitro/victus still offer a good budget/value for those that TRULY need it. I mean if i lived in an urban area, took public transit was a working student...id have to lean more towards a thin n light that i would just charge my brick/during class and periodically type-c charge the laptop when travling in my bag or at work etc...just to maximize portability and everyday carry/footprint. But i would invest towards a lighter setup from a QOL standpoint...or go with a non gaming laptop out of budget/constraints and priority to weight/savings and battery life.

Worrying about battery life in a laptop that's supposed to be used for gaming and not really all that portable is kind of like worrying about your SUV being good enough for hardcore off-roading when you're literally never going to do any off-road because you live in a downtown area. Also, kind of annoying at this point to call anything above 500 USD "low tier". How long until you start refering to 2000 USD laptops as "budget"? That said, this one is a bit pricy for what it is. I love those thermals for sure. They got that right, and plenty of gaming laptops don't get anywhere near those metrics, even with lower specs.

You don't buy gaming laptops for battery life. You buy them because they have kickass graphics cards! I just bought the Lenovo LOQ Ryzen 5 version of this laptop, and it is awesome! If you look at the internals, there was a lot of very cool engineering involved. The rear cooling exhaust is nice, because it doesn't burn my legs. You can switch between performance modes with one key press. In "quiet mode", it uses about 40 watts when not gaming, and 60-80 watts when gaming. Performance mode uses more power and the fans run louder. The Geekbench CPU scores for my Ryzen 5 are about the same as a Ryzen 7 with integrated graphics, and the GPU scores are four times as high. The color accuracy is also much better than on other laptop screens. I would definitely buy this laptop again, and I would also buy the Ryzen 7 that's in this video.

I am one of those here who have actually bought it. I made a conscious choice of sacrificing battery life for performance being on a tight budget. The title of the video is a bit of a let-down for us owners, but you actually point some of its merits through your review. My experience with the machine confirms your data. So I think a fair presentation would be to place the product in a "value for money" context. At least in Greece I couldn't find a more attractive option (including 3 years warantee and xbox ultimate pass for 3 months!) But yes, potential buyers should be warned about the limitations in autonomy.

@@AlphaNova25 well, I did post this about a month I go, I'm pretty sure it was about a laptop and it's battery life and if that's what you're talking about, then you can go and looking at video app and you can change the battery life settings and then you can actually get half decent battery life from your gaming laptop. My comment though not very well worth. It was supposed to say that gamey laptops are not designed as office computers. You're obviously not going to get the best backs your life out of them. And I am guilty of that.. I just spent three and a half thousand pounds on the laptop with two hours. Battery life and well it's my own fault, really? Because I'm using it for letters and work are for its entangled purpose, which was gaming. You can get better life out of the gaming laptop. You just have to be a bit more clever about it. You have to change the CPU settings to throttle it to like five percent when on battery and you have to do the same with your graphics card in the settings menus of the Nvidia app. It's not a gnarkey comment I was serious don't buy gaming laptops for works. I made that mistake. You're not going to get amazing. The battery life out of it. And well, that's just the way they are. And that's what annoyed me about the video.

If you take those lines away & compare battery life whilst playing The Witcher 3, then it paints a very different picture indeed. The LOQ lasts 103 minutes on battery which is more or less what ALL the laptops last! And there's the rub...this is a GAMING LAPTOP who's prime function is playing games. When I saw this online I thought the CPU name was a typo. I wouldn't necessarily avoid this for my use case as I mostly use gaming laptops as a desktop replacement that, if I really needed to, I can just disconnect and pack without the clunkiness of SFF + portable monitor that would sit even lower on the table. That said...how many people would actually get this knowingly? While a lot more people than you'd think need the battery more as a back up power (to save and shut down) or for short busts of working away from the wall, I imagine most people buying gaming laptops as desktop replacements that totally won't care about the battery life are way more likely to get a bigger laptop than a Loq not just for the screen but for the cooling and performance. If this was 2018 or so they'll just put this CPU in a bigger chassis and call it a day, but when you've got 16cores in a G17 or even more (albeit due to eCores) on a Scar18 or a Titan, couldn't they have just marketed this CPU to, say, MinisForum? I'd take this in a miniPC with a dGPU, or that mITX board with a laptop CPU that just needs a regular 120mm fan and the built-in cooler to stay cool (at the very least you wouldn't need to go digging online what top-down cooler fits on what motherboard depending on RAM - not like a desktop CPU in such an SFF build will sustain 5.0ghz+ all core anyway).

Im highly disappointed by the fact that i had put a considerable amount of money to buy this laptop online for first time only to have this brutal issue. Please don't take the risk.

Honestly Gaming laptop are majorly used for gaming and task where GPU performance is heavily required. and without plugging the charger, all gaming laptop are useless. for productive task i will highly recommend Apple laptops. this laptop is worth every single penny. getting 144 hz , RTX 4060 with 24 GB ram and AMD 7 under $900 is a steal. ❌Do not go for Intel variant, some model faced dead mother issues ( manufacturing defects) also Intel processors are power hungry beast. just build a PC with Intel but when it comes down to laptops AMD should be preferred.

I don't know if lack of iGPU would increase that, I guess depends if the Nvidia graphics are fine to work more than they would normally in most laptops - but given many people leave optimus off all the time anyway, I doubt it's an issue.

I bought my Lenovo Legion with its Nvidia 2060 GPU in September 2020. I only ever used it for gaming whilst it was plugged into a wall socket, so for 99% of the time, the iGPU was redundant & the dGPU did all the heavy lifting. Over the passing years, that laptop saw A LOT of use...and 4 years later, it's still working perfectly. All this talk about laptops lacking an iGPU failing prematurely is a load of old twaddle! However, whilst the Legion is as fast now as when I first bought it, it struggled to keep up with modern, AAA games, particularly The Last Of Us (brilliant game, buy it!). Which is why I recently bought myself a LOQ 15 with the 7435HS & the 4060...and honestly, for what I paid for it, it's brilliant!!
