Did a bit of research regarding the chanting and found these meanings, for those wondering: Ong namo guru dev namo (Sanskrit: ॐ नमो गुरु देव् नमो) is an important mantra used often in Kundalini yoga. This mantra means “I bow, or salutations to the divine teacher.” It can also be viewed as meaning, " bow to the teacher within." It is also sometimes called the Adi mantra. Sat Nam essentially translates into something deeper: “I am truth,” or “Truth is my essence.” Sat Nam is known as a bija (seed) mantra-a one-syllable sound that activates the chakras.

@Darren The really amusing thing is that you know Russell would agree with you on so much of this? He's well aware of his vanity. He also knows that he can be full of himself. These are not things he tries to deny, in fact he has frequently acknowledged them. I would also point out that meditation could quite easily bring somebody close to Jesus. Meditation fits perfectly fine into what you're saying.

@Darren Jesus has many faces, as are the paths to God. Be mindful of this fact and judge not. In whatever way peace and love light up our hearts we are in the presence of God. In reading your comment one could judge that it is you yourself that is being duped. Also Jesus does not suffer from such arrogance as the traits you ascribe to him. Outside my window the sun is shining, the birds are laughing and chattering at the absurdity of humans, the trees are stretching out their arms, covered in buds as offerings to the world. Indeed I am in the presence of God. Amen

I found Kundalini yoga in the early 90’s, way before it became popular on the east coast. It helped me function without medication after years of self destruction, rehab, then having to go to work and raise a child in the real world. It was so helpful but I got out of the habit. Now at 65 I’m trying to get back into it again, and Russell these videos are so helpful. You are so helpful. And thanks for the humor, crack reference, and the fart at the end 😄. Just makes it all so much more relatable ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Well done 👍🏼

@Darren I know people who are afraid of Kundalini- based on here say. If you don’t understand it that’s fine. As for Russell being full of himself 🤷♀️. Personally I have to give him credit for being a brilliant I interviewer and courageously speak on subjects the main stream news doesn’t speak on. I wouldn’t be judging the guy- he’s doing a great service here and in his podcast- KZbin is free, and you don’t have to watch it if you don’t like him, let alone comment. In fact I can’t believe I just wasted all this time answering you. 😂

Sa Re. Russell, I'm so glad u r sharing this type of technique. Because u r doing great, so whatever your doing has got to be worth it. I'm taking a class for communion with divine. I have to find one. I have thought that all things were more powerful than me. I learned some cool ways of letting the animals out, so healing can happen. I'm super supporting your new channel. Body centered healing, pranayama, is a good thing to learn.

I've started watching these sort of videos of you on your awakening channel, however many times I didn't follow up on joining the practice. I did not believe, now, at those moments, was the right time for me to do those practices, because I was busy, wanting a smoke or another sip of my beer, but I did experience a willingness to try them out, based on the belief and previous experience that they work. This time I made a sort of compromise and thought, let's just watch the whole practice, also since I've learned and experienced the placebo effect of visualizing an exercise can have on your actual physicality. So I did, and it was very calming and I joined in on some small parts, for instance joining the finger movements, chanting along mentally and the breathing bit for the most part(doing Wim Hof daily for two years now, although with short pauses in between sometimes, made it so probably, that this was not so much of a challenge). So, this helped. I guess I am sharing this, because this might be a good way for others as well, to step in gently into the spiritual practice of kundalini yoga.

Meditation in any form is a great way to detach from our grasping with the causes and conditions of everyday reality. We all have to make a living or governed to be productive contributors of society. The more we can connect with our inner consciousness and not reactivity the better or wiser decision will arise when confronted with either internal or external challenges. Interestingly though, after listen to a conversation between Jordan Peterson and Jocko Willink last night I wrote this comment, in relation to mantras. Throughout history wisdom traditions have always been manipulated to fit the needs of those wanting to dominate a narrative, i.e. corrupting the teachings with the egoic thinking mind. Something to reflect on. "As a New Zealander and past member of the logistics team in the New Zealand army we were always told about our S.A.S soldiers as being the pinnacle of soldiering. Funnily enough after watching a documentary about their training, most if not all, stated, the hardest challenge was in interrogation/prisoner of war scenarios. These situations are usually conducted with being blinded and deafened or instilled with disturbing audio and forced to sit or stand in stress positions with no end time specified. Definitely demonstrates to the instructors those whom have a deep drive to handle internal and external demons and to find a safe spot between the two. I also read a recent article about US special forces soldiers being put through contemporary 8 day mindfulness silent retreats and stated at the end that it was far harder than any of the training scenarios provided in the field. All soldiers from the very beginning get their military number ingrained to memory. If caught a soldier simply responds to the enemy their rank, number and say nothing else. A single focused form of meditation, not to dissimilar with any religious faith that uses mantras as a means to focus attention on the here and now".

Oh my. Thanks Russell, I just took part in your meditation: you've certainly got the, errr, throat for it. During your opening ditty, I felt myself sink to a spot within myself I'd not quite reached before. It was as if I literally had the magic of the now moment in the palm of my hands. Noone else's. It is just me who can influence my own reality, the primary take home message from that experience. Then I ascended toward what can only be described as a sheer brilliant white light that engulfed me and, well, I didn't want to leave that throne for long after you'd stopped rambling on about whatever it was you were saying while I was in a state of total blissful, heartbreaking, truth. So thanks a lot :* I may be hooked. Enzo xx

Been wanting to get into meditation and reconnect with my spirituality for quite some time. I've recently reconnected with my spiritual upbringing (which is Christianity and of which I hear of much in what you say and how you say those things) but meditation has continued to elude me. This was such an amazing explanation. Great guidance. So many useful sort of "touchpoints" where I could connect what I know about the respiratory system or this or that. This was so helpful and I truly believe I will keep coming back to this as I learn to practice this form of connection. Thank you so much.

I love meditation. I have one where the woman is singing it and i have trouble with some of the breathing because i have been sliced and diced. i have found sometimes i have to meiditate and do self hypnosis or guided in positions that i can elongate my spine.even laying on a bed or medicine ball and have to breath out hard several times but i do love it and there are so many dialects so thank you. I am glad you are breathing much better things. I do know myself. I am hypersensitive to what is around me. I have to get away from my massive stress and decompress and it is difficult sometimes but it takes practice because my body is so messed up surgeries and spine damage but stress is the worst issue i have. Often it is because of other people with negative energy. i tense up immediately and people think because i am a survivor of so many trauma's that I am strong. I am not. I have worked hard to be even alive, let alone walking but I like the breathing ( even at times it can take forever to get space in my chest cavity) i sleep best with self medication or lucid dreaming if i go to bed early because some of the past life regressions are a way to make your own dreams. there is not much anywhere on the net that uses that same technique. for dream and i think it would benefit to have more. this was very interesting and a bit different than my usual.
