I used to work at the place that built those, back in the 80's. That particular one looks like part Action Age machine. The newer one's has a gas tank under the dash, first ones were metal tanks then they put plastic ones in. They started putting a hood on the back to excess the motor better too. The reverse in newer machines was just a starter motor that ran off a toothed brake disc. The "brake fluid" on newer ones used transmission fluid. I don't know what type yours would have. Some had bilge pumps mounted on them to prevent sinking. I know every part on those machines. They stopped making those in Genoa in early 90's I think. The tracks for those are a pain in the rear to take off and put on if they weren't properly maintained. You have to drive them opposite of how you drive something else, foot to the floor while turning! Lol. Thanks!

I owned a Scrambler back in the 70s. Reverse was another starter motor that engaged a sprocket on the jack shaft. It worked, but not very well. The machine would wear out the chain sprockets and I rebuilt the drive assembly at least twice. I think body flex was the reason for that. It would go in water, but if you had a strong crosswind it was difficult to control as the speed in water was very slow. Mine was a 16 horse, I think you would like that engine better. I gave mine away to my next door neighbor after I bought my first 3 wheeler. Good luck with your project.

Check the tire sizes, most of those run a slightly larger tire in the center position to help them pivot on turns. That one looks like the larger tires are on the front and rear of the right side and the other 4 are the smaller ones.

I just got a Max 2 6x6 last year. That thing is a blast to tear up the trails with! Mine came with a 16hp Vanguard v-twin. Unfortunately the flywheel cracked and Briggs doesn't sell the 805192 anymore. It took me a few months to scrounge up the right one. I'm waiting for it to be delivered Saturday, or Monday. I can't wait to get it running again. Mine didn't go very well in the snow, but in the mud, it's a screamer! I hope you have some fun times with your 6x6. I'm glad my Max 2 came with it's manuals. It may be a bitch to work on, but it's worth it to me.

Very cool. I remember seeing one of these in the early 70's. In Saint John, IN. There was an area known as 'Jones's twenty acres' where the owner was very old, and didn't keep tabs on the property, which was mostly a huge shallow swamp. No one really went there, or fished there because it was so shallow, maybe four feet deep. But we rode our mini bikes around the area and one day someone came out in one of these and it was pretty cool. BTW, I bet this is where the Ruskies got the idea for the now, best ATV in the world, the SHERP. They cost over $100k and are amazing machines, powered by a Kabota diesel engine and can go anywhere and are nearly impossible to get stuck.

The Banana splits drove Amphicat 6x6 ATVs. Very similar to the scrambler but there are some key differences. The Amphicats were a lot nicer and larger with a larger engine, better steering, reverse gear, and a top speed of 30 mph! I love 6x6 ATVs and have an Amphicat of my own! Great video, I would love to see more on this machine!

I have a till... err "garden scratcher" with an 8HP briggs engine on it with a similar carb (that looks like the bigger "4 bolt" carb, mine is the "3 bolt"). I completely rebuilt the carb (new needle / seat / needle valves / all gaskets), but when I choke it fully, gas dripps out of the throttle plate shaft when cranking the engine. If I only half choke it, it's fine, starts up, and it runs great with the choke fully open after it warms up for a few seconds. Once it's running, nothing drips on the carb, and it can sit forever with the engine off and the fuel shutoff on, and no dripping, so I think the needle and seat is fine. When it's fully choked, those carbs just just seem to vacuum the gas out of the float bowl! Looks like yours has the same issue! Half choke should be enough! Or maybe it's because the top of those carbs tend to go all "warpy bendy", and now there's an air leak into the bowl that allows too much gas to get sucked up when it's fully choked?
