The mother who wore a bridal gown... there's actually a great story. The bride is a very successful entrepreneur with a fashion brand here in Australia (she's wearing one of her own dresses). Her mother never actually had a wedding dress because they didn't have money when they got married, preferring to spend all their money on giving their kids a better life. Jane, the bride, did know about the dress beforehand and was happy to give that to her mother who sacrificed so much to give her a good start. Also, Jane has an incredible sense of humour, so it wasn't an issue for her.

@@sheilam5248 Oh, man. I wish I had known that then. I've been away from that awfulness for two decades, but the memory still sears my heart. I did think about reporting her to the local pet stores. But, for example, my brother briefly was training a falcon and had to feed it mice, which also were obtained at a pet store. (He couldn't take it and gave up the falcon.) @Gi Gi yes, these birds are often rented out by someone and most of them make it back to their owner, but still a lot of them get lost on the way back home. And since they never really learned to find their own food, they will go hungry and starve. It also happens a lot with pigeons used for sport flying. Unlike the white doves, these pigeons usually have a number ring, so we can often find who the bird belongs to. But when we call them, the owner usually says "just twist its neck", cause the pigeon got lost and they "dont have time to come pick up a pigeon that loses the race". Unless its fataly wounded, we just rehome it with someone who doesnt use their animals for competitions

That last one: I remember her dress code. Fat women had to wear black, and fat men had to wear camouflage, and they were going to all dance on a black sandy beach, with the thin guests in red in the middle, shooing away the fat guests. OH, and the thin women had to wear Loubitini (sp?) expensive SPIKED HEELS, with the red soles, so they would show off the soles, as they did the special spin and kick move of the dance. On a black sandy beach. Because NOBODY TRIPS while dancing in spiked heels on sand. And dressing fat women in black clothes on a black sandy beach, so you can "shoo them away" is not at all fat-shaming. Oh, and this was going to be in summer in Hawaii. Oh, and the dress code included more than just expensive heels. Guests were required to spend AT LEAST $1000 on the outfits, AS WELL as a gift AND an outfit to wear to the actual ceremony. AND the dance outfits to wear outside on the beach in the summer in the tropics? Sweaters and velour. SWEATERS AND VELOUR. This woman was so incredibly delusional. It wasn't a surprise that she believed a $99 polygraph would actually work to find out "the snitch." I don't have a link, sorry. No regrets whatsoever when we had our “destination wedding” just the two of us. The owners of the lodge we stayed at were our witnesses and we had a photographer. A few family members were miffed but they got over it eventually. No drama. And we used the money we would have spent on a wedding to buy a 3 bedroom house in our first year of being married. After 6 years we sold the house, more than doubled our investment and immigrated to New Zealand where we live now. We have a little homestead and work in the nearby city. Luckily my FRIENDS FAMILY (who I just met a few months prior) let me stay with her until my mom and I could get back on our feet. Just because someone shares DNA with you doesnt mean they love and care about you. ANIMALS ARE NOT DECOR!!!!!! THEY ARE LIVING CREATURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only time animals should be decorations is if they're stuffed animals, toys or basically anything that's not real. I’m retired now but several years ago as a professional pastry chef who specialized in wedding cakes... I’ll tell you contracts are a absolutely necessity! I had this couple come to my shop we did the whole thing.... The tastings, the different fruit and fillings etc. A couple of days later the Groom came back on his own, requesting that the Strawberries be changed to Raspberries. He assured me that his fiancé would be very happy. He stated, that the only reason she went with the strawberries instead of raspberries was because they were less expensive and she was trying to save money. (It made sense at the time) This was suppose to be a surprise for her so he asked me not to call her. After all I made him initial the change and re-sign the contract! The day of their wedding I was assembling their cake and she ran over to me and said, “I can’t wait to taste your Chocolate Mousse with the Strawberries! I just looked at her Husband and smiled and winked. She asked me why l winked at her Husband. I’m just standing there like an idiot waiting for him to say some thing! He finally told her that he replaced HER Strawberries with HIS Raspberries! I was just thinking to myself, Thank goodness I have a contract and they already paid me! This crazy Bride picked up a 10” knife and tried to stab me! Usually I’m an extremely patient person after all, I know planning a wedding is extremely stressful... However all bets are off if you attempt to kill me! I called the Police and they hauled her off to jail in handcuffs, needless to say she missed her entire reception! I was actually thought about not press charges but there was a room full of witnesses and the police insisted that she needed to be arrested . I felt bad but, I’m sure my husband and children would have felt worst if this psycho bitch killed me! I literally jumped to the side and she missed stabbing me by inches! I agree with the first one, but have to add my story. My friend got married in 2020, one of her witnesses (basically equivalent to a MOH here in Belgium) couldn't be there because she had covid, so we livestreamed the entry into the church, the vows, and other important moments so she could experience them in real time. I made sure to stay out of the photographer's way, even told her upfront I would be doing this and to not hesitate to tell me to move or back off if she ever felt that I was in the shot or a nuisance in any way. She was sweet and thanked me for letting her know. Then she proceeded to be extremely rude to me all morning, complaining about me loudly, and then use me as an excuse later on when some pictures didn't turn out well (when I wasn't even anywhere near the actual picture taking, I only filmed during the entrance, the vows, and some songs that the bride and groom sang during the ceremony). and when she was late delivering the retouched pics (it took her 4 months, and she said it was because she couldn't take the pics the way she wanted to because I was in the way. I was literally sitting or in my church seat or standing next to it the whole time. anyway.) I didn't move around at all to get a 'better look at things'. She apparently 'told on me' to the bride and groom later on and was very angry that I was filming. Anyway luckily the bride knew what I was doing and saw that I was fine and not in the way at all, so she believed me, but yeah that was a weird experience.

Bettas would have been fine on the tables but for a goldfish...it was an imminent death sentence. I've been to weddings where they requested on the invites and other locations around the venue that the guests were not to use their phones to take pictures, it was for the professional photographer so they could take clean shots without having to go around guests. Then at the reception of one wedding, the couple had purchased single-use cameras for everyone to use to take photos of each other so the couple would have more guest photos and the photographer they hired could focus on them and the wedding party as well as the dance floor. They ended up getting some really amazing candid photos of their guests that way because everyone was having fun trying to take pictures of their family members without them knowing. I thought it was a brilliant way to keep the photos taken and allow them to post photos from their wedding when they were ready, not when their guests felt they should.

We had a perfect wedding in a little country church in a small Midwest town, EXCEPT: Living 500 miles away from my fiancee, I picked up the tuxedos for the guys and brought them out there with me. The colors weren't even CLOSE to the fabrics the girls had made their dresses from! The tux company had changed the color in-between when we ordered (with swatches of the dress material) to when we picked them up. We found a wonderful fabric store 30 minutes away who stayed open late so we could buy enough materials to make three more dresses AND three more overlays (like making six dresses). We had an "assembly line" at my fiancee's house, with everyone pitching in; I (the groom) was cutting out material from the new patterns we'd bought as the old ones weren't with us. It all worked out - UNTIL - getting out of my Opel GT sports car the day of the wedding, I brushed my light green tux (hey, it was the 70s!) against the door latch, smearing grease on the pants of the tux. My future MIL nearly had a coronary event. During the service, the minister forgot to say "You may now kiss the bride", as apparently he never said that, so we stood their WAITING until my bride nudged me and we kissed. A wonderful honeymoon to Yellowstone and more, and coming back the water pump in the car failed. A German-made car imported to the U.S. for only four years and the Firestone shop says "No problem, it'll be ready at 10AM tomorrow (this was a Sunday in Rapid City, South Dakota - the German car capitol of the U.S., right? It was done at 2pm, so I figured it'd be mucho $$$ - but ended well, being $52.78 (I couldn't even buy the PUMP for that price!). After 44 years, two sons and three grandchildren, I wouldn't change a thing! It's the memories, remember!

Ok, so the Saturdays are for the boys wedding! That was actually the wedding of one of my brothers friends and there was a legitimate reason behind the joke. For the past few years all the boys had gotten together every Saturday to watch sports and hang out and stuff. Now, one of the groomsmen was special needs and it was distressing in the extreme for him when there was any deviation from his daily routine. The wedding was done on a Friday because it was the day that would have caused the least upset for him. A few people on the guest list had been complaining and constantly asking about why the wedding was going to be on a Friday. The banners were a way of answering their questions without outright saying anything about their buddies disability or drawing attention to it.

Pets or animals, in general, should not be allowed at a wedding unless they are brought in by an organization that will take care of them during and after the event. For example, in college, we had an organization that would bring on-campus local animals to play with to help students destress before finals. the animals were well behaved and had handlers. but in general no pets. I remember a wedding where the bride and groom thought putting butterflies in envelopes would be a good idea and not telling the guest what was inside them just not to open them until time. Kids were playing with them and the butterflies died. Kids were crying and people overall were not happy.

Honestly, I don't think the kids necessarily killed them. Like the other poster pointed out, there likely wasn't enough air in there, not to mention the butterflies likely were panicked being trapped like that and I'm not sure their hearts could take it. Not to mention the fact that even adults aren't going to be careful with an envelope that they don't think something living is inside. You might set it on the ground, accidentally step on it, stick it on or under your purse to get it out of the way. I just can't imagine any way the butterflies could have survived.

If it’s the one I remember reading about (the comment under yours goes into detail) her dress code was really odd. If you weighed under a certain weight, you’d wear a certain color palette and high heels. If you weighed more than her ideal, you had to wear full black (pants and sweaters). Did I mention it was on a beach and during warm (hot) weather? Yeah. High heels on a beach for a dance = many sprained ankles. Plus, wearing black pants and long sleeves during the summer/when it’s hot out = heck no!

@@battlebear437 If I'm remembering correctly (I think it was the same post), not only did she want the lighter-weight people to wear super expensive clothing for the dance to represent prosperity (hundreds of dollars worth of really warm designer clothes like scarves and sweaters on a hot beach), but she also demanded every guest buy at outfit worth at least $1,000 to change into after the dance so that they "didn't embaress the bride and groom" at their really upscale reception venue. I'm pretty sure that she literally said something like "if you look like garbage, so will we". She thinks that reasonably priced clothes (less than $1,000) looks like garbage....and that the venue staff will even care that much what guests are dressed like. And on top of that, the "shooing away the devil" part of the dance mentioned in the video was to be the lighter people shooing the heavier people. So she is basically calling being over weight (or just weighing more than like 140lbs iirc, which isnt even inherently overweight) the devil.

I had a friend that did beta fish and people really did take them home. However, the one I took home didn't live long. Just didn't transport well on a hot summer day. Same deal in the case above. The fish were dying at the wedding. It's a stressful environment for an animal.

I've never understood the rule in Western weddings that only the bride wears white. In Pakistan the bride traditionally wears red, but really she can wear absolutely any colour she wants and among the usual 300-500 average guests, someone is bound to wear the same color. We also have this perfectly acceptable tradition where guests who recently got married (within the last year or so) wear their own wedding dress. In fact, if you can still fit into your wedding outfit no matter how long ago you were married, you are encouraged to wear it.

I believe it was queen Victoria that started the white wedding dress "standard" and of course no one outshines a queen. I guess people filled their head up with thinking they were just as special and somehow it became a tradition. I also assume because wedding dresses are very expensive you would hope that people respect how much money you spent on the dress and wedding and let you have like an hour to be the center of attention.
@ashleybuechler860
@ashleybuechler860 3 жыл бұрын
@@bobbiobanion7706 That's exactly where the whole "white wedding dress" fad kicked in. White was traditionally seen as a color that people of higher standing could afford, and since they didn't work like laborers, their whites stayed clean. People who did work wore any dress they had, ad then that evolved into "nice" dresses. Ever since Queen Victoria set the wedding standard (because she was royalty and rich), we Westerners have adopted this, imo, rather silly habit. Yes, my dress was white, I admit, but mine also had gold and green, AND I was married at a ren faire, so I knew I would be getting dirt and leaves on my dress. Didn't care. It was thematic! I would love to see a return to "Wear whatever dress you fucking want to your wedding!". Does it make you feel important and pretty? Wear it!

Funniest thing was when someone insisted on having their wedding at the height of the start of Covid when everything was shut down and kept posting they weren't going to live in fear. One person outside the parents showed up. Normally I would feel bad for them but they were so dismissive of health concerns towards the guests in their posts beforehand that I think they kinda had it coming.

The bride who posted that mother-in-law-to-be decided to plan her vow renewal the same day as her wedding so that the MILTB could "Feel special too!" should not get married if her fiance' does not stand up to his mother and demand she does not renew her vows on the day of his wedding. If he doesn't stick up for them, as a couple, on this he can NEVER be depended upon for standing up to his obviously narcissistic mother. You get married, and you are on your spouse's side. Disagree behind closed doors, but you and your spouse are a united front. GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN! My mother-in-law wore a long ivory (maybe cream) satin gown to my wedding. I didn't care, though a few people asked me if I was upset. It had a long slit up the left leg. When she was sitting for the family photo it opened more than she realized. She was upset with us for not warning her that she was showing more leg than she realized at the time. If anything didn't I have a right to be annoyed at the dress she chose and the effect it had on the family photo? She didn't make a huge deal out of it, I just thought it was funny.

Years ago my mother catered my uncle's wedding. There was like over 500 people that showed up and she did all the food for free and it was a huge spread to feed a lot of people. Anyway she got really upset that my sister wasn't asked to be a bridesmaid and all the other cousins that were girls were. This was done by my aunt her sister-in-law who didn't like my sister cause she was too tomboyish and my mom just assumed that my sister would be in the wedding. My sister was like 9 years old and she felt super left out. So my mom being petty but absolutely wonderful dressed my sister in a all white tux (this was 1986 mind and even back then my mom knew she was butch a lesbian) and she absolutely owned it. At the wedding my mom even made comments like well if she been a bridesmaid she would have wore those ugly pink dresses but she wasn't asked so we just went with what we had on hand.
