No. I really wish they hadn't put that out there at the end of this gem. I worked there for a couple of years and floated the idea. It will never happen because: A. The company's no longer a game company, and B. Even if their gaming function wasn't necrotized, this title wasn't as commercially-successful as the Gradius franchise, for example, which did get 5 installments. I tried.

People don't talk about it much, but most of the guys that put this game together and the Parodius games are the same guys that went on to form Treasure. When that happened it was the end of the "Konami as we knew it" from the NES and SNES days. And I think we've seen that Kojima was never enough to carry the company on his own. This is a pretty good run, because this game is pretty unforgiving in the Hardest loop.

Yeah really good soundtrack and really good game. I don't know if back then I was a gifted gamer in my gaming years but the very first time I played this game, I ended up beating the shit out of it, lol. I woke up one morning walked into the living room and got my older brother playing this game. I ask him what game is this? He told me axelay and he got it last night but when he got home I was already sleeping. I watched him played it and died continuously, lol. So he had to go to town on an errand, after unbelievably playing this game all night long and not even getting really far. I took a turn at it. True story; I played the game for the very first time on normal settings and was like zapping alien butt. He was like you really good at this game, but you are always good at all games, I laughed. He left me playing and I was advancing to the next level with ease. Until I beat the entire game on my first go without any continues, unbelievable!!! Just woke up, sleep face morning breath and all, shitttt!!!! I called him and told him I just beat the entire game and he was like WTF!! LMAO! But really good game, I also thought the soundtrack of super biometal was incredible as well.

Konami knew how to make a great shmup for the SNES/SFC. Though Gradius 3 was a misstep (it was the first one they put out early in the systems life, so they didn't know the system yet), we got 3 Parodius games (slowdown kind of hurt them, but it was worse in Jikkou Oshaberi Parodius, hopefully someone comes out with an SA-1 hack, like they did Gradius 3, which removed ALL slowdown from the game), an excellent Twinbee game (and a platformer for that series as well that is outstanding), and this gem. I bought this thing when it was still under 10 bucks years ago ($7.99 off Ebay, because the damned thing would never show up in the couple retro game shops we had here at the time), that won't happen today as the game is now very expensive.
