Why one of the most talented musicians of his generation is not in the Rock Hall of Fame is an insult to Boz and the millions of people who have enjoyed his music around the world over the last forty plus years.

He pivoted to pop from the blues & rock...that pissed off his age contemporaries that vote & control the Hall...it's not right but, that's a part of the politics of that museum. I love Boz Scaggs saw 'em open up his Restaurant in in San Francisco back in '88...what a performer.

Considering some of those that have been inducted, maybe Boz should be thankful he hasn't been. I think his very loyal fans and those who simply dig his type(s) of music is the real RRHOF.

@@carlbenson6412 Some of his music could be in the rhythm and blues or soul category. For some reason, I always thought that Boz was from Louisiana. Not so. It was because of his soul and blues genre that I thought that I guess.

I remember when Silk Degrees came out in 1976 and then, as now, think of it as one of the best albums ever released. I got to see Boz live onstage at the Tobin Theater in San Antonio in 2022, at age 77 Boz sang nonstop for 90 minutes. Incredible!

Silk Degrees is a phenomenal album,I remember vividly when it came out. I was in the USAF stationed at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport,La and I was buying my albums at a high end stereo shop by the name of Sound Systems Limited and was being given advice on music. I was told to listen to Silk Degrees in one of the demo rooms and after 2 songs I was hooked on Boz. Great album and he just kept releasing better and better music. I’ve been a fan for 45 years.

1970-1986 was the greatest time in American history. Sometimes, if I try REAL HARD, I can almost recreate how good daily life felt back then. Anyone who was there has to remember the joy of Nam ending, and another golden, magical period beginning. Even the sunshine seemed more Golden! God, I'd give up the present in a heartbeat, just to go back. I miss so much, and so many, from the 1970s. ALL genres of music were peaking, and FUN was the base mood for EVERYTHING!

I was at a party in 1976 and someone put "Silk Degrees" on the turntable. Song after song, I kept saying to myself "That's Boz Scaggs??" Ran out and got the album and then checked out his back catalog at the time and have been a great fan ever since. "Moments," "Slow Dancer" and the follow-up to "Silk Degrees," "Down Two Then Left" are all-time favorites. Still think "Down Two..." was vastly underrated. Great album. Then "Middle Man," later "Some Change" (totally different direction) he has continued all along to put out classy material. Thoughtful, well-spoken man. Nice to see him interviewed by Rather.

Boz Scaggs was unknown to me until I heard some of the hits off of Silk Degrees. I bought the album. Very few of the albums I ever bought could I say every song was good or great. Maybe a half a dozen albums over a long career of buying albums and listening to music. That album of Silk Degrees is one of maybe half a dozen albums that I can say every song on the album was good. I listened to that album many many times. It was a great album to put on for lovemaking. I was a young man, I was born in 1954, so at that time in my life, I played the field. When I think of Silk Degrees, there are many good memories there in every song. It was probably the Lido Shuffle that first got my attention.

Saw him at Stanford just after Silk Degrees first came out. It was just beginning to be played on the radio and was about to turn into the rocket it became. In a break between songs some guy in the crowd yelled out, "Loan me a dime, you sone of a bitch!" The crowd roared. Boz just looked out at the audience, smiled a little smile, looked down at his guitar and started the next song. It was one of the coolest moments I've ever witnessed at a live performance. It wasn't lost on the audience, either. We ALL got it. He is 'The Man'.

I was at that show at Frost too, Les Dudek opened and was really good. Boz took it up a big notch when he entered over the opening groove of Lowdown. It was a starmaking moment and we went nuts. Summer of 1976 was an amazing time for him. He had his best ever band imoho (the Toto guys). Also saw him headline a Day on the Green that summer. I went to that one mainly to see Jeff Beck but having Boz also there was a major plus. Boz was easily the crowd favorite that afternoon, Silk Degrees was blowing up.

Curly Cook was the man who preceded Boz in Steve Miller's band. Boz has done some great music in a variety of styles. I think Curly was more straight ahead blues. It was originally the Steve Miller Blues Band but the first album was already a break from Miller's blues approach. I got to respect Boz' intermittent, well-done blues along with the champagne soul etc. over the years as a solo act after the Miller years.

I think the early SMBB album "Sailor" is absolutely one of the greatest statements of the "San Francisco Scene" to come out of the late Sixties. I was never sure what went on between Boz and Steve...,was it amicable...,they are both so talented but in very different ways....,a natural parting of the ways, I hope...,

Silk Degrees!!! I have still on the original LP I bought in 1976 and is one of my favorite albums to this day. It is one album I can start playing and listen through to the end and never find a bad song. I got to see Boz Scaggs at the, if I remember correctly, ASU Activity Center. The opening band was out of this world good, they also had a couple of hits at this time, and they were the Little River Band. Talk about a star-studded night for a concert. If the Little River Band was good Boz just blew the roof off the place with the show he put on. I got to see most of the top concert acts of the late 70's I would say looking back that the only performer that topped that night was Elvis Presley who I got to see twice.

Pretty sure he and Steve Miller were born and raised in Dallas, as was I, but there is generally very limited information about either one of them or their roots in Dallas. I think they both attended St. Marks school, but that is about all you ever find. I wish someone could dig up more Dallas history on these guys. Where did they play in the early days? Who were their influences? How did they break into the music scene? Etc. Love both of these guys!
