Marcela Bovio - mexican who got lost and wound up in the NL 😁 She is a great singer (and violinist), both center stage and in the backing line. Appearing on all (?) of Arjen's projects. Is a teacher at the Metal Factory. Arjen did a collab 'Stream of Passion' with Marcela in the lead. She also shines in MaYaN 'Rebirth from Despair' kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2a3gqSLeZxnhac (somewhat rougher metal) - here you really here how versatile she is...

Ah.. Marcela Bovio, the undisputed leader of the 2017 Ayreon's Angels! She really rivals Floor in vocal versatility. Like Sir Joost van den Broek said, she's an Ayreon "must have". And they are having so much fun performing. That reflects on the fans. I experienced it myself last year september when i was lucky enough to get tickets for this epic rock opera 01011001 - Live Beneath The Waves.

Oh and to answer your question: yes, she's classically trained and a vocal teacher. More importantly, he's not classically "overtrained" (comparable to Floor in this dept. too) and can flip from death metal growls to full on classical on a dime. Her projection, mixing, vowel modification, transitions, dynamics, and on top of all that her optimal use of "formants" (using the vocal tract as a resonator to boost harmonics created by the vocal chords) are beyond stunning. She did kind of like an impromptu at the Ayreon campsite at last year's concert and it was just a treat! With Anneke and Floor one of my all time fav vocalists.

Marcela is such a bad-ass. She beat cancer about five years ago, as well. As for the show, Arjen's girlfriend Lori Linstruth (who was lead guitarist on the first Stream of Passion record, incidentally) is a major part of the staging and design. Joost handles the music and Lori takes the lead on the stage show. No-one really knows why she retired from playing guitar. I'd LOVE to see her back up there to do a SoP number or two at some point, But she seems to be completely out of the music industry and now works as Arjen's manager and as a portrait photographer..

Lori participated in the songwriting for Simone's solo album. But I mean that every now and then Arjen plays guitar on projects. Maybe her interests have shifted more towards photography.

Marcela is awesome, a trained professional with an amazing voice, and a wonderful person as well. In "The Electric Castle" show she does the backing vocals with Dianne van Giersbergen (Dianne), not related to Anneke, another classical trained vocalist and best friend of Marcela. You should check out her last single "A Symphonic Tragedy" with a guitar solo by Arjen Anthony Lucassen. And please please react to it. Love, Geert.

That's one I hadn't heard before and it was, of course, up to par with every other thing I have heard from Arjen. He has vision and creativity and the ability to convince some of the greatest voices in the world to present his work. I have a song that Marcela just did but I think I'm going to hold on to it until your next live stream. 😆😆

You need to check more of Marcela. Stream of Passion, Dark Horse White Horse and MaYaN. Especially „Rebbirth from Despair“ (the live version) You might recognize some people on stage there 😉

When the 'Embrace the Storm' album came out their song 'Out In The Real World' was my favourite song for at least a year. I was in a job I hated and on my breaks I would listen to that song on a loop on my iPod just to cheer myself up and get through the day.
