Elvis appealed and still appeals to all ages, not just from his era. He's timeless. If the REAL Elvis and his legacy was exposed properly to reach today's generation, his following would increase dramatically. He's just on another level...facts.

He was born 1941 n I think he is still alive. Yes Elvis loved Neil's song Sweet Caroline n sang it in Vagas.i have listened to Elvis since 1956n got to his Aloha concert that was broadcasted around the world and seen by 1.5 Billion I sat 3rd row center.i never met Elvis but was friends with Charlie Hodge his confidant and best friend for years after Elvis died n have a whole journal of the stories he told me. Bridge Over Troubled Water Vagus 1970 was Simon n Garfunkel song n Simon loved Elvis version. Check that out. Righteous Brothers sang "I've lost that loving feeling" n Elvis sang their song Bill n Bobby liked how he arranged the song.

Hopefully the new movie about Elvis will show the two sides of his personality ... off stage he was a quiet , gentle man , generous to a fault (although he did have a temper) ... on stage , when he was ELVIS , he was the dynamic icon and performer we loved . As he said in the New York interview , it's hard to live up to an image ... and eventually that effort led to all his problems . A very complex but amazing man who is simply timeless !!!

B.B was a KING of the blues. Awesome music, like The Thrill is Gone. Neil Diamond was a great song writer who became a major singer and performer. As for Mr. Presley, he needs no intro.! You did a great job. The connection of Elvis and B.B. King (the B.B. stood for Beale Street Blues)- so Elvis and B.B. were both living in Memphis. BB was King on Beale Street and Elvis went down to Beale Street to buy cool clothes and hear the Black artists making Blues on Beale Street. Latter, Elvis helped break down the BS ''segregation rules'' were Black and white folks weren't supposed to show up on the same night in certain clubs. Elvis, by '56 was so big that he could break the rules and show up on ANY night ne wanted to. This then ''opened the door'' to other folks ignoring these ridiculous rules. Thanks for letting the old school guys like B.B. tell their story. B.B. wrote the book on those single string, blues solos with the killer hand vibrato.

Fun fact that most people don't know, but Neil Diamond revealed the the song Sweet Caroline was about Caroline Kennedy. The song was released in 1969 but he revealed at last in 2011 that the daughter of John F, Kennedy was the songs inspiration after seeing a magazine cover photo of Caroline as a young child on a horse with he rparents.

KeeSeeY, I read a biography of Elvis years ago in which Sam Phillips (owner of Sun Studios in Memphis) was quoted as saying, "If I could ever find a white singer who sounds like a black singer, I would make a million bucks." Reportedly, shortly after saying that, his dream came true when Elvis walked into his studio one day (1954?) and made a $4.00 demo record of "That's Alright, Mama"! When that song eventually got out over the radio air waves, well........... The rest is history!

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll look him up and give him a listen. Music is always changing. It’s good to try different bands and artists see what they got. There’s plenty of talent in every type of music. Elvis was as big as it gets in his time. He dominated the airways from mid fifties to mid sixties when the Beatles took over everybody. Plus he did movies. Don’t put down todays music. There’s probably tons of good stuff out there. It’s just different. One day it will all change again. All you got to do is enjoy it.

Your reactions are so exciting!! I've watched many interviews with Elvis' family, friends, co-workers, fans, etc. Of all the people he came into contact with in his life, I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him. Of course, he wasn't perfect; but his kindness and consideration toward everyone seemed to far outweigh his downfalls.

To say Elvis Presley had a nice voice is like saying an ice cube is cool - Elvis Presley was a baritone whose voice had an extraordinary compass - the so-called register - and a very wide range. It covered two octaves and a third, from the baritone low-G to the tenor high B, with an upward extension in falsetto to at least a D flat. - Remember this was before audio voice correction - Today with all the electronic devices we are not even sure if we are actually hearing an artist's true voice - Listen to The Righteous Brothers from the 60's - Pure voices

Post Malone an admitted Elvis fan! 😁 just throwing it out there since you mentioned Post. He's on the Elvis peace-train. BB KING is 20th century music royalty. If you started digging around Googling a little about him you'll see he's one of the most admired & respected Blues icons of multiple generations. 500 years from now when PopCulture music historians are talking about twentieth-century, BB King's name will always be on the list of greats remembered. Check out song called "Thrill Is Gone" from BB. Or maybe even do reaction to it. One of his biggest best-known hits. Great reaction

Chuck Berry invited Elvis on stage with him on his 72 Vegas Lounge show. Instead Elvis sang and danced in the aisle with Sammy Davis Jnr. I get it now. With Elvis it wasn't his TCB band, they probably wouldn't know how to do Elvis's change ups. Plus Colonel Parker would go crazy and give them a bill for Elvis to be on stage. I could be wrong. At the 56 WDIA Goodwill Revue Elvis thanked BB King "Thanks man for all of those early lessons you gave me." (Tri state Defender)

How objective! An Elvis fan, I suppose? Neil Diamond possesses one of music’s most defining and instantly recognisable voices, his smooth rich vocal delivery bringing to life his many famous songs. He's not the greatest singer but he sings great. There's a truth and sincerity in his voice not heard in many singers. But you must be willing to really listen in order to understand. At least Elvis respected Neil more than you do, by covering some of his songs. Oh and by the way, Neil Diamond writes his own songs.

Different era. If Elvis had lived into the 1980s, you would DEFINITELY have seen more famous people jump on stage. WITHOUT QUESTION. Could you imagine collaborations with Michael & Janet Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston (Her mom Cissy sang with Elvis), Freddie Mercury, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Run DMC, Billy Ocean, Madonna !? They were all big fans of Elvis.

I think Elvis would have loved to collaborate and perform with other stars of the day, but I'm guessing his manager wouldn't have allowed it. The way he was with his band and back-up singers shows how much he enjoyed working with them and he wasn't an "it's all about me" kind of guy.
@depper

@@kathifielder1110 I believe you are right Kathi. I believe that Parker would have to be fired to see an Elvis World Tour AND collaborations between artists in the studio and on stage. Elvis was getting closer and closer to firing Parker. I believe before 1980, Parker would have been fired. We may have seen one or two dramatic roles and a series of World Tours. The Vegas engagements would have dropped significantly and more stadium venues. We would have seen Elvis play famous venues like opera houses with perfect sound. Carnegie Hall, places like that.

@@depper It's sad that he didn't get a new manager in the '60s when he saw the direction the movies were taking. But I think he felt a strong loyalty to the Colonel because of what he had done for him early on in his career. It's easy for us, with 20/20 hindsight, to say what he should have done; but like his song says "walk a mile in my shoes". I don't think anyone ever tried to walk a mile in Elvis' shoes. I've heard people say he loved being "Elvis Presley" so we can only hope he had more happy times than sad ones.
@depper
@depper 2 жыл бұрын
@@kathifielder1110 I think for the bulk of the 70s, he was only happy onstage. Or at the very least HAPPIEST onstage. Lisa Marie was his pride and joy. And he was happier with Priscilla after they divorced. But I think that Priscilla was who he really wanted in the end.
