Outstanding reaction! One thing to keep in mind about music contributing to juvenile delinquency is that the songs of today are not the same as the songs of the '50s. There were no songs about killing and drugs. I know it's hard for young people to comprehend what the world was like back then. This might give you a little perspective: people were not allowed to say the word "pregnant" on tv. It was a VERY different time. Yes, Elvis' dad was 18 years old when Elvis was born. Elvis recorded his first professional record in 1954, toured mostly in the south in '54 and '55 while releasing a few records, Colonel Parker became his manager in 1955, and he had his breakout year in 1956. Some fun Elvis facts from 1956: Toured in 26 states; logged over 41,000 miles with 110 stops and performed 200+ concerts Made 10 appearances on live TV shows Made a movie Did many interviews Performed in charity concerts Released his first album Had 17 singles that charted in the Top 100 including 5 #1s Sold 10 million singles, 3 million Extended Plays and 800,000 Long Plays Grossed over $22,000,000 Elvis' work ethic was nothing short of phenomenal.

So humble. Says he isn't a good singer. I beg the differ, Elvis is amazing and the best singer ever ❤️ I've loved Elvis my whole life. Always nice to see younger generation discover and react to Elvis. As I did myself once, being born after Elvis passed. I'll always love Elvis with all my heart and listen to him daily. Such a huge part of my life. Even gave my son the middle name Elvis 💖

Elvis' parents Vernon Elvis Presley and Gladys Love Smith got married when Vernon was 17 and Gladys 21. They fibbed on their wedding license, though that Vernon was older than Gladys. They'd eloped to get married in the County of Pontotoc and signed that Vernon was 22 and Gladys was 19. That was on June 17, 1933. Vernon was born April 10, 1916 and Gladys was born April 25, 1912. Elvis was born January 8, 1935, making Vernon still 18, 3 months away from his 19th birthday. Gladys was 22, 3 months shy of 23. Elvis' twin Jesse Garon was stillborn. Gladys passed away aged 46 on August 14, 1958. Vernon passed away 2 years after Elvis' death, on June 16, 1979 aged 63.

Jane H commenting ….. Elvis was a very humble man & continued to be that way right up to his death. He always played down his accomplishments & he absolutely Adored his mother & had a good relationship with his father throughout his life. He had both of his parents, plus his grandmother, & various other cousins living with him at his home Graceland, & he fully supported all of them. When he lost his beloved mother when he was 22 & she was 46, he cried for two days & was absolutely inconsolable. He never did get over losing her, because he loved her so much & they had always been very close. She was both his biggest fan & his biggest critic. She kept him grounded. Elvis was a shy man & an introvert, off stage. But a totally different persona took over when he performed, & he was confident & an extrovert. But he was always nervous before his concerts. Before he shot to almost overnight fame, he had told his mother that he would buy her a pink Cadillac, & indeed that was one of the first things he did. When she died, he kept it & drove it, & it was never sold as far as I know. He also bought Lincolns & had at least two Stutz Blackhawks, plus a Rolls Royce Phantom V, as well as others, as his career as the highest paid Hollywood movie star progressed. He ended up with a collection of 200, but he had given just as many away, donating them to be auctioned for charity, or gifting them to family & friends & even total strangers.

He bought hundreds. He bought a pink one for his momand she didn't even drive.he loved his mom so much. So stupid to ask if he shot at his mother.he was an only child his twin brother Jessie Garon died at birth

The reporter is expressing the typical attitude of many adults back then, who rather hoped Elvis would quickly fade away because they hated the way Elvis sang and moved.

But even though some of the parents wanted Elvis to fade away eventually Elvis captured their heart and they were swayed the other way I think that's funny and great because they realize Elvis was a decent human being especially after he served humbly with a 2-year Army service

It's ridiculous that anyone would say Elvis shot his mother. It proves that the media hasn't really changed since that time. James Dean was his favorite actor and his idol. The interesting part is that Elvis might not have compared himself to James Dean but he was the one chosen to take over a project that Dean had been committed to filming a few months after his tragic death & his early movies show his raw acting potential that was never harnessed because The Colonel & studios wanted to capitalize on his singing. People that worked with or wanted to work with him said he had that same quality of James Dean and Marlon Brando so we'll never know what Elvis could have done in acting if he had been given a proper chance.

Elvis not being able to sleep much was not actually caused by fame as he suffered from insomnia from an early age in addition he also was a sleepwalker. During the 70's he's off all medication after a hospital visit and his doctor wanted to know how long it would take for him to get sleep if he didn't take sleeping pills and it was like 70 hours or so before he was able to sleep.

on the Steve Allen show they made wear an old tuxdo from the 1800s and sing to " dog hound " to a real dog- so Elvis is being very gracious - anyone else would have been pissed- they tried to insult his family ,did`nt work- he also gave away 200 caddies

Elvis was wrong about a few things...If he wasn't a FANTASTIC singer , he wouldn't have sold over a BILLION records . . Elvis said that people wouldn't remember him when he was gone. Well, we all know that's not true at all...And he also didn't think he was a good actor , but his film King Creole and some others PROVES that wasn't the case either. Elvis was a very humble person and lacked confidence in himself sometimes.. So, it's left to his multiple millions of fans all over the world to attest to how GREAT he was with just about everything he did....We're all only too happy to do that ...Elvis, you were GREAT, and STILL ARE !!!

I absolutely love your authentic reaction! You are absolutely listening the way that you did however there are some people they seem to want to turn it around butt I guess everybody has their angle.. I just suggest from one admirer of Elvis to another to look deeper into this demeanor of Elvis Presley because there are many many Google sites and I challenge you decipher the best! And if you do a deep dive into this wonderful human being then you will grow your channel unimaginable! But you need to know that I am not describing Elvis as a deity but just one of us aspiring just like many of us are striving which is a sense of wanting to align with this Oneness with the Almighty but I believe is a source from which we all came from! Yep yep yep and amen!!!

Yeah man, and I've seen the longer version of this interview where they actually use the n-word. And ask him about the feels bad and that's when they cut to that response about, yeah I don't think I've been doing anything wrong and he's just a young kid but he's staring the whole country down he's steering the home media down and he doesn't want it. You can tell he's nervous and shy but he's also forthright even at that young age. And if you look at the look in his eyes, he's on a different level. He truly is.

Colonel Parker was vital to Elvis’s career in the beginning and upon his return from the army. However, his influence on the type of movies he was forced into ruined his film career and nearly ruined his career as a whole by the end of the 60s. Because of Parker’s questionable immigration status, he never allowed Presley to tour overseas. His gambling habits locked Presley into a grueling schedule in Vegas throughout the 70s and ate into what Presley earned from it. The contract he had with Elvis had him taking half of everything Elvis brought in, which was unheard of. The touring schedule he put Elvis on, combined with Elvis’s lifestyle (diet, medication, sleeping habits) drove him to his death. He was still managing Elvis and taking half of everything he brought in after he died until Priscilla Presley took him to court. So, frankly, Colonel Parker helped for about the first 5 years, then who knows? Maybe Elvis could have gone on to a decades-long career instead of flaming out with only a couple of million in a checking account at 42.

'B') records worldwide , and his songs are still being played many times every day all around the world in just about every country. Gee, I wonder what he would have done if he was a good singer....lol !
