@Jared Taylor hes only given the props that his resume demands theres no extra fan fare. Kobe , Lebron , Magic, Bird, Shaq even Jordan arent on that much higher of a level value wise but they got the God treatment because of personality or varying degrees of flashiness, Michael most of all, his resume qualifies him as the goat but people act like he did it by himself.

And rightfully so. I hate when people gloss over big men in mount rushmore conversation simply cause you gotta be 6'6 to 6'8 and play SG or SF so they can unduly compare you to MJ. It's BS. Lebron went to Olajuwon for post up lessons and Duncan whupped James in the Finals but people like to forget.

I'm not really sure he was underrated, its embarrassing to see these sports fans put duncan above Kobe. Duncan from 05-16 which is 11 years of his professional career had numbers that of a role player just horrible averages for someone that is considered a "superstar". We criticize kobe for not winning nba finals mvp cuz of shaq but parker and kawhi easily outplayed him in finals to beat him out for nba finals mvp. He had a great run for about first 7 years of his career and everything went downhill after 2005 as a player.

Tim Duncan for a big man was solid fundamentally. Only 1 of a few big men who would shoot a bank shot, and consistently hit with it. You knew on the left side when he spun and shot it was 99% of the time going to be a bank shot, and that it was going in. And yes, Budha (Jackson) knew how to handle players and get the best out of them. For MJ he provided a perfect supporting cast and offense (triangle & motion offense). He kept a loose reign on the thoroughbreds of MJ and Pippen. He knew when to pull, and when to give full freedom.

I mean he was loyal to spo, and I'm sure if he had Phil he wouldve been loyal to him. Look at the list of coaches fired and ask yourself if any impacted the game like Phil. Walton was only hired because he took over for a coach during a 73 win season and somehow got tons of credit for it. MJ still the GOAT, but let's not blame Lebron for wanting a better head coach.. at least in cleveland (his first years) and when he got to LA. Walton just isnt very competant

I agree 100% Lionel. Phil demanded respect and gave it out to. You could just tell that Phil was EXTREMELY Intelligent both X's and O's and with his communication skills. VERY few rookie coaches AND veteran coaches could have pulled off what Phil did molding the team around Micheal and Visa versa. Phil being on the bench as an assistant to Doug Collins helped a bunch to. The BIGGEST question I always had and PLEASE reply with your opinion. Would Doug Collins been able to win the Championships Phil did with the Bulls had he not been fired 🤔

This is why most basketball players and legend choose Michael over LeBron, outside of being a physical anomaly, he has little to no fundamentals at all. Fundamentals trumps athletics and flash 9/10 times. Tthe Spurs showed the world that in 2014. This is why MJ and Hakeem would dominate this era. Literally unguardable with their overall fundamentals, athleticism and skillset.

If Tim Duncan played in the East and/or played in the top market like Chicago, NY, or California, Tim would've been more popular and would've been on many people's list as far as one of the high, top best who ever played. Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is definitely one of the best. It would've been something to see... Championship series between the Bulls and the Rockets when they're on top in the 90s. Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs were great! Before the Golden State Warriors became a championship team, San Antonio was the team. Steve Kerr definitely brought it from San Antonio to Golden State.

Surprising hearing Stephen A Smith give the standard uneducated comment about Duncan not trash talking. Watch him in those games early-mid 2000s, listen to KG or others say how he trash talked a lot but cleverly, how he utterly demoralized his opponents. He wasn't loud, he was subtle, and ironic, and they feared him for that.

The only thing about Duncan is his elite years was very short compared other greats. He hit the ground running in 98 but by 2007 he was no longer a top 10 player in the league. Yes the Spurs were still good but that was the system.

Yep Tim Duncan gets a ton of disrespect. It is always MJ vs Kobe vs Lebron. Tim Duncan won 5 titles and was a few crazy shots away from winning more. He would have beat the Bulls in 99. The Spurs in 99 finished the season 31-5 and then went 15-2 in the playoffs. The Bulls who barely squeaked by the Jazz in 98 weren't going to beat the Spurs in 99.
