Nice...Awesome...I have the 01 GMQ LSE model with the shifter on the floor.I have an SCT programmer with a tune from Mo`s. Higher shift points,firmer shifts,fuel map,timing,etc..I`d like to have the trans rebuilt with new parts... Loved the video...

I don't go on cvn much so forgive me for asking but why are you pulling your trans? I know you were dealing with converter issues in the past. Are you doing a manual swap?

Yes, I swapped to a T45 5-speed. I've got about 15k miles on the new setup already. Definitely liking the manual more than I ever liked the auto. Mostly because the 4r70w just seems to do whatever it wants.

I just bought one of these at auction at a great price. A 2008. It was advertised as having slipping transmission so I was planning to buy a rebuilt kit for it. I saw in the comments you swapped in a T45 5-speed. I hadn't even thought of doing that but I do prefer the control you get with a manual. Sounds like you are pleased with the swap. How easy ( or difficult ) was the conversion? From what I know, these never came factory with manuals so I imagine there must have been some minor fabrication involved. Did you notice any extra HP from the new set up, assuming there is a slight HP loss through the 4R70W. I know that was the case with the old school Turbo400 & 350. But maybe the newer design autos with lock-up converter, has reduced or eliminated most of that loss due to the constant slippage you get with the hydraulic coupling! But I don't know. Just speculating. Here I am, already considering ways to hotrod this thing and I haven't even picked it up from the auction yard yet. That's normal for me.

You won't notice the gain in power with the manual swap. The car is too heavy. For fabrication you need a custom pedal set, cut a hole in the floor, and modify the crossmember a little. There is a lot of info on the manual swap on CrownVic.net

I have the MHS stage 2 Bullet gournd cams. They have Comp grinding their cams now. They are a slightly different grind. I choose the Quicksilver because it is the most streetable ratchet shifter. Just lift it to use as normal.

This is a console from a Crown Vic Sport modified for the B&M shifter. The car has 3.73 gears with a Detroit True Trac rear. In the video it had a 3400 stall converter too.

no this was an auto trans so there was no lifting for the shifts.

I have th 400 automatic transmission does this shift kit work straight out the box with out messing with inside of the transmission i want to install a floor slap floor shifter from my stock coulm handle

I don't know how it works with the TH400. This was a Ford 4r70w. For my trans I had to change the selector shaft. I think it can run the TH400 without modifications though. They will run a lot of the older transmissions without changes. Look around for the manual.

You just have to make sure they make an adapter to run whatever trans is in that year. If 4r70w or a newer variant of that trans then it will work just like in this car. I think the shifter can run 5r55 trans too.

They aren’t sold. This was a Vic console with a custom cover made for the shifter.

Regular car? You're talking about the brake/shifter interlock. No, you don't have to hold the brake to shift out of park with this shifter. So you don't want to let kids play around in the car. The interlock has only been around for about 30 years anyway.

I was thinking the same thing. But for drag racing it’s better because you can’t miss a shift whereas with a manual you can miss a shift and your bank account balance will take a bit of a hit along with your time to replace it.
