He’s getting so big! Weaning is a choice with Europeans waiting longer. I was a very poor Teen mom so breastfeeding saved me a bundle! I gave my kids chicken leg bones to naw on when teething adding a small amount of meat left on the bone as they got older. Who knew I was doing things correctly😉

Hi Neisha, My son Chris started to show an interest in solid food at around 10 months while still breastfeeding. I had this little manual food grinder and would just grind him up whatever I was eating, meat, veggies, avocados. I would also give him steak bones with a bit of the meat still attached, he loved nawing on them. He self weaned at 15 months. He was always a good eater and grew to 6’5” by the time he was 18. He’s now 36 and ironically the one that introduced his dad and I to keto !
@nicolebutler51414 жыл бұрын
I did this with my youngest. She's 20 months now. Her favs were and still are liver, eggs and avocado. She eats lots of meat and some root veggies and lower sugar fruit and always after finishing her meat first. She loves dips like homemade avocado mayo or coconut cream.

I carnivore weaned my son (2nd baby). My favorite result of doing this for him was the lax of anxiety on me while we were introducing new foods because there was no risk of him lacking nutrients while we proceed through the pediatric recommended phase of food introduction. Keto/carnivore has always helped him fill the empty void that is his tummy. To any mamas and daddies that struggle to keep their children's bellies satiated I can't rave enough how moving towards a higher fat and unrefined carb diet helped us. No bullshit, its unreal the difference of carb-fed and keto-fed when it comes down to appetite satiety.

I breastfed baby number 1 for 22 months and number 2 for 18 months. There were no baby-led weaning books 20 yrs ago. They weaned on their own. I intended to breastfeed well into their second year and I did until they weaned themselves. When I was 9 months pregnant with number 1, and beached on the couch waiting for labor to start, I saw a pediatric oncologist on GMA say the following: “You will not find a breastfed baby on a pediatric oncology ward. It’s the lucky baby who is nursed well into their second year.” That’s all it took for me. I was done. I could guarantee my baby would not have childhood cancers? Then I will do it. The pediatric oncologist didn’t mean 6 weeks or even 6 months - that’s better than nothing but that’s all it is. We are mammals - this is what we do. Of course there are women who for some physical reason are unable to, but that is as rare as finding that issue on a dairy. It does happen, though. However, ALL the women I know who did not breastfeed, did it by choice. They just didn’t want to, which is just so sad. And, I know women who have delivered wrong information to groups of women because they feel so guilty they didn’t breastfeed, they want to make excuses. I heard a woman say in a church group once, that the baby she breastfed is the one who had all the issues as a baby!! Well, if you know the truth about her breastfeeding, you know that makes zero sense. She didn’t breastfeed one of her three babies longer than 6 weeks. So she’s given off this ridiculous information - calling herself a breastfeeding mother - and claiming the breastfed baby had all the issues. That baby had no more benefit that the others. I just cringed as women who weren’t breastfeeding their babies nodded in solidarity. Now if you don’t want to breastfeed your baby - don’t - but I’d respect a person more for standing up and saying that, and not perpetuating lies to make themselves and others feel better. Please continue to promote breastfeeding and NOT feeding babies sugar!!! If you don’t start them on carbs, they won’t have a problem with carbs. Our two were healthy kids and are healthy young adults. Praise God. It’s just not that hard. As you said, they eat what you eat!! Healthy whole food. By the way, the pediatric oncologist would NOT be allowed to deliver that message today. And isn’t that sad too.

With my son he was grabbing for food before he really could chew and eat it so I purchased those kinds of chew-spoons (Boon-spoon was the brand) to allow him to suck the juices and little bits of meats out without risk of choking. Premastication(chewing their food for them) is also a great way to introduce hard to chew foods to babies until they are better equip to do it themselves without having to carry a special spoon around.

I so wish I had known about all this when my kids were babies. They are now 8 and 10 and it has taken me a long time to slowly change their diet from the standard diet to very low carb/carnivore. I thought it would never happen as they were hooked on cereals, pasta and bread but we cut it all out and they now eat mostly meat at every meal. I remember I used to spend ages pureeing vegetables for weaning, and the kids would just spit it out. It seems so silly to me now; my babies knew they didn’t need vegetables! You are so lucky to be able to do this with your baby from the start. Also, my kids both have major overcrowding with their teeth and will both need healthy teeth removed and braces, which is so sad and could’ve been prevented if they’d eaten properly when they were little.

Depending on the kid! They exclusively nursed, without solids sometimes around h1, before I introduced food! And they did perfectly fine! I definitely had a lot of comments about how I would not be giving my kids enough if I didn't give them formula, and baby food, and cereal etc etc! I'm so glad I did not listen to them. A baby's palate takes time to develop, if he doesn't "like" avocados, keep giving it to him, it takes about 30 times or less to develop a taste to it. Hi thanks so much for posting! It’s almost impossible to find other carnivore mommas with baby food journey videos! So we are also a carnivore family and just had our first baby who is 8 months old now. I strictly breastfed for the first 6 months. I was too scared to do BLW and started making meat purée with beef liver, chicken and ground beef and that along with breast feeding is what my baby is currently eating. I am wanting to transition him to finger foods but he gags and throws up everything I have tried to give him so far and I’m scared about choking. Since he’s been on purées my supply has significantly dropped so most of his nutrition is coming from the purée. So my question for you is what should I try for transitioning to solids? And since he most likely wouldn’t be consuming enough that way to get his nutrition should I still keep doing purées? Help! Us carnivore mommas need to stick together lol

Right now, with all this ridiculous hysteria going on, made her regress back to nursing 3-4 times a day again and I'm in a lot of pain and I'm now trying to get her back into the routine of nursing again 1 time a day. It's exhausting! But I baby led weaned her, but my husband was not fan of it and to this day still isn't a fan of her feeding herself. So, that has become a huge problem for us.
