This is not at all like the previously released BabyHawk, this hawk has teeth. 1106 Brushless power on the new AVAN props, buzzer and Foxeer ccd cam. What's the verdict?
Note: Not tuned, but rather "input" from pilots..

Simply the best micro reviews on KZbin. I say it often but every time I see a review like this I feel compelled to say it again. The hours of flight time Nick puts behind a product to fully appreciate its characteristics like durability, reliability, and convenience is terrific. It’s awesome that he was able to get a review out early so he can get the views he deserves. I am concerned about the low flight time and I would love to see some exploration with prop combinations or anything else that may improve that in future videos. Fortunately, we also other excellent KZbin reviewers like Albert Kim, Frequent Flyer, and Droneracer who often explore these possibilities. Anyway, I am very grateful to the micro quadcopter community for their work. That is all.

I know this is old but. I have the Babyhawk R 2". Bought it used this year. Looks brand new the guy said he didn't fly it much. He was scare of it. That stand off you mentioned. The VTX plugs into the FC on the back side of the that stand off. And the arms on this one are 1 piece not 2 piece. So they seem to have change it of the year. BTW nice videos.

I have some Tattu 3S45075, 2 of them I purchased from Raceday Quads a few weeks back, and then 5 more from Powersports Hobby (ebay) that came last week. They are all shorter and wider than the ones you have. My Gremlin is happy on 2S(also Tattu 450-75C), and I'm still waiting on my Babyhawk-R so I can't speak to the performance. But It looks as though the wider 3S450s use the same cells as the 2S450s, except in a 3 stack. The 2S450 (wider style) are getting me about 4 1/2 minutes hard flying and about 6 minutes just flying around on the Gremlin (Emax Original Babyhawk motors/props), so I'm happy with them, I stocked up on batteries and props once I preordered the Babyhawk-R, figured once they hit, the batteries and the Avan Micro props will be hard to find... In any case it seems Tattu has recently changed the design on their 3S45075. For better or worse I can't say for sure, but I'd guess (Hope) they fixed the runtime issue you have. I'll be watching for the GNB Blues though, wonder if the RDQ house brand is GNB, sure look like them? I can't wait till my Hawk-r - Hawker? (like that) arrives, even though I'm in upstate NY with it blowin and snowing. I'll sneak in a crash or 2... Great Review! You have a new subscriber.

Kabab FPV said something about them eventually releasing arms for 3in props in his review. That is why they left so much slack on the motor wires, supposedly.
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 6 жыл бұрын
That could be, but assemblers don't have a habit of trimming wires to a length. In my experience 90%+ RTFs/PNFs motor wires have that same "excess" length, so they all have this same thought?

Not sure about 3 inch arms (though the production box has a checkbox for both 2 and 3 inch versions), but I do know for sure that the official 2.5 inch upgrade kit is availalbe. Moving up to these arms allows for 2.5 inch props all around (instead of just using bigger props in the rear); very cool.

Hi Nick. Great review as always. This is the best channel for micros👍 I transplanted the emax babyhawkr 2" to the hornet120 frame. So that i fly it with a 2.5" prop. However i am always getting very very hot motors on 3s lipo. I checked motor screws not touching the coil etc. I am lost and hoping you know what the problem could be. And perhaps advise accordingly. Thank you

Nick I hear the wires are that long bc they have a 3 inch arm kit avail for this quad and supposedly a 4 inch arm set coming soon. Love his little micro. The specs are amazing and the footage I've seen it looks like the best 2 inch out there period.
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 6 жыл бұрын
Not to be a scenic, but nearly every rtf I have flown has that much motor wire extra. I think its more likely this is just a faster/cheaper way to assemble, the motor wires come with an end exposed and tinned. Only one step to the assembly. It could be true (different arms), but predictions are only good if they are true. If it doesn't become true, is the source still valid? My $.02
@archer4922
@archer4922 6 жыл бұрын
Nick Burns no I agree, my flyegg 100 has enough wire to fit a 115 or 120 frame. Just repeating what I heard kababfpv say. But I'm not seeing the arms on emax website yet. So I can't really confirm they are actually doing 3 inch arms.

Great video Nick! I literally have the same components but obviously different frame. Could you provide me with a cl dump of your settings. The reason why I ask is because i updated the fc to 3.2.2 but even time i try a punch out it’s flutters and dips to the right. I have spent hours trying to tune but to no success. Mine flys great as long it’s on low throttle but where’s the fun in that.

Another great review of another great little flyer, is it just me or is this one slower then the original Baby Hawk?!? A couple of days ago I was trying to do one of your climbs over my cousin's house but ended up having to climb the roof to get the Leader back, looool... No damage but a few scratches and a bend prop, I still have a long way to go until I fly half as good as you do sir, eh eh... ah, the issue I was having with it must have been because of the battery being low because it never happened again... All the best Nick

The narrower fov will make it appear to move slower. The original had a super wide AIO cam/vtx likely 150+ degrees. The Foxeer lens feels like it might only be 120.

Will a vtx ufl antenna without a bell work? It is thicker than the receiver antennas and snaps firmly on the ufl connection.
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 5 жыл бұрын
without a bell? Are we talking about the aluminimum end covered at the heat shrink? if that is one but the end is still there it will be fine. The end is the most important part, the end is "tuned" to 5.8ghz at 12.93mm, or a measurement real close to that.

I think that GNB batteries give you longer flight times because their C rating is wrong, this is why they have less punch. But I'm not sure if it is fun enough to have flight just over a minute?

I don't put them in the same category, the biggest difference is the ccd camera and its ready to fly. Buy a leader add the ccd cam we still have to do the work of retro fitting and add our own receiver. The leader does out perform this by a fairly large margin in pure flight characteristics, but some just don't want anything without a ccd camera.
@scootroter4859
@scootroter4859 6 жыл бұрын
Nick Burns... Me, I'd rather have the far superior flyer and change the camera out if I didn't think the Leader 120's camera was up to par. Haven't really heard that though and many videos show it to be not bad at all. Changing the camera is quite easy and cheao compared to "attempting" to get the Babyhawk R to fly even close to as good as the Leader 120. Surely it would cost far more than changing a camera. I appreciate your review, but I'm not sold on the heavy, unimpressive BHR with it's growth out of its side! (cap) Lol

Not sure what you mean. You saying the Q95 is better than this? And that the Q95 is close to the Lizard?...Would love to see you review the diatone though!

I can't really compare either (GT-R90 or Lizard95) to the babyhawk R. I haven't flown the R90 or Lizard. Making a comparison without flight I would expect the GT-R90 would come out on top in its current form. But if changing arms is something you might want to do we can only do that with the BabyHawk R. Diatone did contact me.....they said to keep growing the channel (lol) and they like the content, and have been following. But no R90 yet. :( I would have to buy one to review it.

Nice review as always can't wait till mine comes in was one of the first pre-orders. Nick Burns Betafpv also sells a 450 3s (2-$25)that is as good as that GNB. I could be wrong but I believe the GNB and Betafpv batteries are the same just different packaging as they preform the same and sell same mah s size batteries.. Amazon sells Betafpv packs and Betafpv is a Prime company so you can get them state side in one or two days to your door.
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 6 жыл бұрын
yes, Betafpv appears to be "re-labeling" GNB batteries (still ship from Chine), or they have an agreement with GNB...who knows
@TheAfroengineer

Nick Burns Amazon sells them in the United States and they are a Prime company so as long as Amazon is fulfilling the order it only 2 day shipping.

I don't. What I have "heard/read" they are heavy compared to others in the category. Some love them, some say they are only ok.
@therealjonnyd
@therealjonnyd 6 жыл бұрын
Nick Burns definitely heavy and not nearly as punchy as a GNB. Only one that truly compares to a GNB micro batt is probably the indestructible quads batteries that just released.

@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 6 жыл бұрын
hmm. not the same really, different categories. BabyHawk R will be more robust, but the leader is going to be quicker. Babyhawk R has a ccd camera, leader doesn't and retrofitting is questionable.

The field of view is also more narrow than I typically fly. This is a 2.3mm lens, I usually fly 2.1mm. The wider fov makes speed more apparent or greater, big reason why the GoPro is so drone popular.

Front runner maybe for bnf, building no, for 30-35 more grams I can make a 140mm 1407 beast that will eat this. Yes it runs 4s, can handle it, but do I see a 2840 sitting on there, nope! Even with the extended arms...also the capacitor slangged out the side is pure crap. Rip that off with some needle nose, then go rip it...that's a true test😂 Emax, did okay, the hawk 5 they crushed!

hellfire08 20a board with the leader is worth it imo, and then just get a smaller frame and scoot parts to your frame of choice 😊 less wasted money with parts that can be upgraded and moved around.

Wait, What? I, unfortunately, had a bad experience with the leader. Mine came with a bad ESC and I am getting the good old gearbest run around (about two weeks of back and forth before getting more hoops to jump through just to prove that it’s a bad esc). I would rather just buy another leader or something else rather than go through this crap. I have a feeling that is what they want though. Anyway, if I can get the EMax from a place with some support it would be worth every extra penny. Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention that the instructions are in broken English, always a bonus 😒

Rick Tucker that stinks. i've had a couple of issues with gearbest and dead quads before. they refunded one and gave me the send video or photos email about 5 times, even though i kept sending them the photos and video over and over.. i gave up on that one. mostly they make it right, but it is a pain to deal with either way. hope they get you properly squared away quickly. good luck 👍🏽

80+ grams is heavy as hell for a 2" rig, you can really tell when you punch up over the house, maybe 4s is the solution :)
@NickBurnsFPV
@NickBurnsFPV 6 жыл бұрын
Its on the heavy side for sure, that might be good for starters as I can't see anyone breaking the 3mm arms. But even if they do the arms can be replaced. A single bottom plate would like cut some needed grams.
