Since first discovering Bach as a teenager in the late nineties, I estimate must now have listened to the Brandenburgs ~500-600 times, and they show no sign yet of becoming at all tiresome. For me perhaps the most satisfying part of the first movement is the "denouement" that begins at 3:25. The way in which Bach resolves and ties off the various contrapuntal threads he's interwoven with such magnificent daedality is a thing of thing of awesome, exquisite, jaw-dropping beauty and perfection.

Richter had an advantage on many today's "Baroque" Orchestra conductors: his gesture was clear and well studied, he wasn't a singer or an instrumentalist also improvising himself as something similar to a conductor. But, please, say me that recorder wasn't in plastic O_O O_O ...

Throughout the years of their existence they try to entertain and fill the void of their dull and difficult existence. The only kindness that fate - the all too unhuman and non-sentient fate - dealt them was the card of death. These humans felt death to be something to be afeard of, but in reality it is their greatest reprieve - and it is open to them all.

The recorder is only an instrument if you can use it properly. Example: If you can only play "Hot Crossed Buns" and/or "Mary had a Little Lamb" = Not an instrument. If you can play the complete 2nd Brandenburg Concerto, = Awesome instrument. :D

I don't think it was a period instrument. A period instrument would be a valveless trumpet this was a piccolo and I think piccolos just sound like that. People use piccolo cause the part is hard as hell it takes a real beast to play it on a natural trumpet

The living humans press on, now devoid of Gods and spirits, but conscious in a world where they imagine these things matter. If there ever were Gods, it would be these creatures walking across the stars in a few hundred millenia. These Gods are too afraid to die, and thus they forever walk and try to entertain themselves.

They are not Gods, these human beings. They have supreme abilities to manipulate the world around them, but they are not able to perceive the consequences of their actions on a long-term scale. They are still animals in that respect, and yet they dream of someday coming across equals. In vain they send out their voices and music into the cold of space. Man - he has isolated himself from other animals, but he thus rendered himself alone.
@jantimps11 жыл бұрын
@Celine: I'm not criticize Bach, I'm criticizing this way of playing. Of course I hear the long notes with vibrato: read back: Quote: "No frases, long notes..." I never said, no long notes. Never mind. No discussions about taste. I play historical instruments since 1985. As a pro.
@suncoastsolarpunk322211 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if it was the instrument. I just didn't like the playing style, I guess, too abbreviated, and I didn't like the trills. It was like the air wasn't getting all the way through the instrument, I don't know, it was weird.
