This was helpful for me. I’m considering this set along with N scale. I went a little crazy during Covid and spent a fortune on Carerra Digital 1:32 slot cars. The track also accommodates 1:24 scale cars and my thinking was if I ever wanted to run 1:24 cars, I wouldn’t need to purchase new track, just a new power supply. Anyway, I don’t have the room for a permanent layout, it’s just too big. I don’t want to make the same mistake with trains. I’m also looking at Kato, still just trying to see and learn as much as I can before pulling the trigger.

Will the Bachmann controller work with Kato tracks?

yes. i cut a bachmann track feeder wire and spliced a Kato track feeder wire to the “track” side . i use my bachmann n scale dcc locomotive on its own set of tracks and it works very well. i sold every stick of my bachmann n scale ez track. thank you for watching

My Friend Had Tech II I worked It A Little When He wanted To go somewhere To Check something out and The response of the Controller was Very Smooth that’s What Made Me go to That.my Wife Has A Tech II Now I have One and I Am Happy With it.

nice video. yes usually you have to break in a new engine. Run it for 30 minutes in each direction and it will move that train smoothly. and maybe some track cleaning 😉

neither, i use peco flex track and switches. They look good, but i have used peco for ages. so used to it.@@tommys_trucks_trains_tractors

well i use peco flex track and switches as i have used them for ages. But i think your system works well. The upside with peco is that i can make the curves i want and cut the track to exactly the right length. Functions 5 & 6 are revs up/revs down. At the rev it starts at, if you hit revs down, the engine revs down and shuts off. Note also that engine "0" is for analog (DC) engines - works fine, but I don't like to leave an analog engine on live DCC track for long. Worth noting that the DCC engine works on analog power as well. That controller can be used to change the loco code - my BNSF is now at code 1. If you read the instructions for turnouts, they say you shouldn't connect the frog wire for DCC locos - any idea why? My main track problem is stalls on turnouts at switching speeds. Once you've assembled and disassembled the track a few times, the joiners loosen, and missing a connection become much less common. Dirty track is forever an issue - but I've got a track cleaning car coming. That loco will happily pull many more cars than the 4 you get in the set.

I purchased the exact set and after a couple of years I decided to change back to DC powered track. Now using Kato with having 4 multi track layout with three crossovers. I also installed separate push button toggle switch to power on/off to each track, so I can wait for a train to pass before crossing over with another train. I'm only use only one Dc controller which powers the whole layout, running 4 dc trains with it and having alot of fun too :0) ... My Question: would it be easy to change that Roaring Rail GP40 dcc engine back to dc ? how would one change that specific dcc engine back to DC as I find it runs way too slow being DCC on a DC power track even when its the only train on the layout ... Thank you

Once You go Into N Scale you will Stay Into the Scale it’s Worth It All The Way Around.
