I love the touch of Country twang that Justin injects into these traditional delta blues numbers. If he decides to take on the massive delta blues catalog from the great song writers and performers like Willie Dixon, Elmore James, Lightnin' Hopkins, etc., then it will be something to behold. Justin's music demonstrates that traditional delta blues, traditional deep-south country (as opposed to mountain music and bluegrass) , and rockabilly are all related to each other. I've always likened traditional deep-south country to "white blues." It just lacked a simple, but infinitely variable form like you find in traditional blues, which keeps blues vital and has inspired generations of the best jazz and blues composers. richard -- "I am convinced that the future music of this country [the USA] must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition, to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are the folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them." - Antonín Dvořák, 1892.

The sweet spot is that note that links between the African & the Irish-Scots hillbilly pentatonic. Bend it or run through it, blues or country..take your pick ? Add them both together & you get rock n roll. Dvorak knew where it was at too. The 'Lento' from The American is enough to make a grown man weep. Sheer beauty.

I absolutely love your style, your grasp of music theory is spot on, and your application of it spans from blazing, to smooth as two fangers of old bourbon. Mr. Johnson, i aint got a dime to spend helping you keep it poppin. But i send your videos spinning out as often as i catch a new one. Its not much, and should i find myself in a situation to do more you have my word i will. I have been a fan of delta blues, and slide picking as far back as i can recall. Please keep bending strangs. That video "healing blues" sounded like burbon tastes..... astonishing
