Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Llyod as Marty McFly and Doctor Emmett Brown is an absolute cinematic classic and regarded as one of the best movies of all time. It spawned two sequels, countless memes, and remains an incredibly popular film to this day.
Back to the Future does raise some questions though. Like how is Doc Brown so lovable while also being so sketchy (animal testing, dealing with terrorists...) Why is this movie so focused on Marty’s mom trying to seduce him? Is this really a family movie? How did Doc and Marty even meet? Why did Doc flip-flop on his passionate speech about not learning things about the future? What happened to the Marty from the new timeline that “our” Marty replaces?!
To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Back to the Future! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

The thing that bothered me most, which got no mention at all in this pitch meeting, is how his parents in the future don't find it strange that their own son looks exactly the same as that guy they interacted with in high school who got them together. Yeah.... :) I still wonder why he didn't just run a cable the entire length of the street so they had a better chance of hitting it.... but then they hijack a train in episode 3 despite having a fully working DeLorean in the cave they could've taken the fuel pump from.... along with the gas to run it. :)
@jp3813
@jp3813 3 жыл бұрын
@@LaurenGlenn Perhaps the lightning would get weaker the longer it has to travel? Or maybe to attract less attention from the city. Probably not even enough time for one man to set that all up in time. As for the fuel, the FAQ section of the BTTF trilogy home media actually addresses that. The mechanic's logic is that long storage tends to require the tank to be emptied. While the time traveler's logic is that opening up the cave and closing it again, likely both using explosives, could result in a paradox if the car gets damaged or buried for good. The real head-scratcher in Part 3 is Doc not considering that stealing a train, crashing it, & stranding those passengers could have drastic repercussions to the timeline.

and this isn't even some "in hindsight" thing. "Spaceman from Pluto" sounds like a 50's b-movie (which fits the idea of the dad watching it) but doesn't seem to fit the tone of the film at all. People make waaaaaay too much of the word "back" being used in the title. It's just an abbreviated way of saying "return to the future".

I think the Chuck Berry thing is one of the most coolest things in the movie. Because it kinda implies that no one wrote Johnny B Goode.

Except there are two timelines: the one Marty originally comes from, and the new one where Marty affected the past and his Dad is a writer etc. In the original timeline Marty hasn't affected the past, which means Berry write Johnny B Goode in the original timeline

@@Matthew-ve7uv what would happen if Marty went back in time again before the concert where he plays the song and just waited the evening out? Which of the two futures would happen?

@@Matthew-ve7uv Berry still writes Johnny B Goode in the new one, too. Marty had played most of the song, including the iconic intro, well before Marvin called his cousin, and phone technology didn't exactly have the best fidelity in the 1950s, especially over long distance. The most Chuck, who was probably woken up to accept the phone call, being in the midwest at the time, would have heard is 12 bar blues in 4/4 time, and a lot of loud noise/distortion. If there was nothing made prior to JbG, the idea is plausible, but most of the song, lyrics aside, had been covered already in music by Bill Haley and Louis Jordan in prior years/decades.

When I saw this I immediately thought of John Mulany and to know that you’ve not only seen it but the fact it inspired the whole of Pitch Meeting is amazing!

It’s so weird this morning I was thinking that I loved these pitch videos but it did remind me of the back to the future thing from Mulaney stand up and I wondered if you had done a pitch for this movie. And then it popped up in my recommended 😮😅 these are funny
