Very interesting that every time you were here 20% rain you get dumped on but definitely understandable and how you explained it bad luck on the 20%. We had the same thought process last weekend. Looked at RRG but went to the Hoosier National Forest, Charles C Deam Wilderness and lucked out on the rain. 4.5 hr vs 6 hr drive really made our choice. Got lucky and followed an unmarked trail to Patton Cave. Thanks for sharing.

@@BryceNewbold The bridle trails are much flatter than most of the hikes I've seen you do but the spur trail and unmarked are a bit more challenging. Getting to the Cave was a bit of a challenge the way we went in but that was the most elevation gain. Not much water away from the lake. It was busy there too.

The small tree with the giant leaves you showed at the beginning of the video was pawpaw. It's a native species which bears amazingly large and delicious fruit. According to my map it's 1.5 miles to the bridge then you did the "connector" trail to the parking area which was .4 mile. So yea that was about a 4 mile out and back adventure haha. In hindsight I would have recommended checking out Hidden Arch or Silvermine down off Koomer Ridge. I was there that same day. We parked at the parking lot you made it to, went to the bridge, then north on the Sheltowee to Cloudsplitter/Staircase. There are also 2 fairly large arches out that way (Indian and Adena). I've been down there 20+ times so if you ever need some help route planning let me know. That being said you can do no wrong down there, every trail/loop has awesome features. I could help out with some off trail / hidden arches though.
@BryceNewbold6 жыл бұрын

You had better weather than when I went with Frozen back in April. The one thing I noticed is if you follow the regulations there aren't that many places you can technically camp: you're always close to a trail, water source, or a rock formation. I always carry my saw and chair with me. After hiking all day I like to reward myself by sitting next to a campfire.
