I get the sausages, but my Mum came from Co.Durham and would make "pork patties", or sausage meat without skins, and cooked similarly are just as nice. The Germans call them Frikadellen and the Danish Frikadella (the same) and are delicious with mash and onion gravy and some bacon. Lidl do pre-cooked Frikadellens that microve in 1 minute, are very reasonably priced, and come up lovely when warmed in the gravy and some baked beans.

American here. Funny story! I'm new to this channel but I've already tried some of his recipes in the recent past and I absolutely loved them. For some reason I just really wanted a classic English meal that I never made before which was bangers and mash and yorkshire puddings that he made in another episode. While I was making this dinner, I just happened to check my calendar and realized that today is the feast of St. George, patron saint of England. This was totally accidental! I just thought it was amusing. I don't know how big of a deal this is in England, but if anybody over there is reading this post; Happy St. George Day!!! And God bless the U.K.!

Thank you for sharing. Happy St. George's Day. Thank you. Best, Rik
@King_of_the_slums8 ай бұрын
Celebrating St. George's Day is now considered to be 'far right ' by left wing media outlets, BBC, Sky News, the guardian, telegraph, independent etc Flying the St George's flag on your car can get you a £1000 fine and flying it on your property can get you in trouble with the local council. St Patrics Day is celebrated more in England than St George, no mention of cultural appreciation there if course. I think you are well aware over there in the states of how things are going. The NWO is well and truly in full swing all across the Western world, and they will stop at nothing to make it happen, just look at what they are doing to Trump, love him or hate him he is a perfect example of what they can do if you stand in their way, it has absolutely nothing to do who he slept with (Clinton got away with it) or any documents he was legally allowed to have (Biden got away with it). England is multi cultural now, St George may cause offence to a migrant. Therefore, it is not promoted, just like Christianity. Bangers and mash is not quite far right yet, though.

THIS is now on my bucket list. I'm an American who's been cooking (at home and in restaurants) for over 60 years. I can attest to Rik's way of cooking sausages of any type. (Sometimes I prefer to grill them, but when using a pan, the boil-and-fry method never disappoints.) In general, Rik's methods are spot on. This is a man who knows what he is doing. I really like how he points out options and doesn't get hung up on details that so many other "chefs" mistake as important or even critical. As for this particular dish, I am all in on using the peas as a side. I've seen that baked beans are a popular accompaniment, but my personal taste leads me to having those with a BBQ'd or smoked meat. Just a personal preference... In any event, I am anxious to try this. I just have to make a trip to a butcher that I know makes bangers. (They're rare here. Luckily, there's an outstanding butcher less than a 30-minute drive away.)

@chixma70117 ай бұрын
@@marvinbenjamin234From what I’ve read the nearest equivalent for you would be Italian sausages. Ours have a higher fat content than the Continental sausages like bratwurst and this is why they’re more succulent. Supposedly Italian sausages are more like ours with herbs and fat. My Swedish brother-in-law raves about British bangers and I have to go armed with a large supply when I visit. I’d be very interested to know if this alternative works for you. I´m a Yorkshireman from Keighley and have been living in Denmark (Copenhagen) since 1979. The Danes love teasing me about "tasteless British food", so your webside really helps me to "get back at ´em", and in the best way possible. Cheers for that, lad!
