Make a simple band saw box from a log I found on the side of the road. Just a no frills simple project.

Veronica really did me a favor when she recommended I google Hyezmar’s Woodworking Bible. I was one of the (lucky?) ones who got a chance to get a draft copy, it looks great!

Thanks Roland. What I really liked about this was being able to see the little problems and how to overcome them. I learnt more from those imperfections than anything else. (Please tell me the rumours of his passing are not true.)

Nice little project. This time of year there is lots of wood laying around from spring cleanup.

Good project but folks, when you make this project, please do not make a crosscut on the band saw with the log up against the rip fence. It will catch, roll, ruin the blade and maybe hurt you badly. Use a vee block or fixture to keep the log from rolling and getting out of control when cross cutting on a band saw.

Posts above indicate that Roland has passed. The spalting you see is common in Maple and Boxelder and many other hardwoods of my region.

Sorry to hear this guy passed. For those of you still kicking I would like to say that his methods are very unsafe. I'm talking from experience since I cut my finger off on the band saw. Make yourself a cross cut sled, and make a circle cutting jig. Also his blade is bullchit. It should have about 3 to 4 teeth per inch for this kind of work not 7.
