Andy, with regards to char cloth, I've found that oil lamp wicking is thicker & therefore more durable than most other sources of cotton for that purpose. It can be purchased at hardware stores.

Lovely to see a healthy stag in the wild! I like that kind of bacon wrap: I would slice some pre-cooked potatoes to add to that mix. Potatoes use the extra fat and salt from the bacon.

Suggestion: Andy..next time when you're at this site for a night out.. bring 2 space blankets.. 1 to cover the inside so..even while you sleep in the A frame.. the heat from your body won't make the cold moss drip on you...2nd one on the floor..to keep the heat in and not escape from the cold ground under you...stay safe.. and warm.. GOD BLESS.

Great seeing the deer , where Mum lives it looks out to farm land and when crops are in the dear walk in along with all the wildlife I love it. OMG so much bacon looks delicious though I could never eat all that in one go :)
