Solid white lines do not mean no overtaking. Read the highway code. they mean you are not allowed to cross them to the opposite carriageway. you can overtake if you can do so without crossing the lines. (although in this case the bike does cross them. hence illegal ) They also mean no parking at the side of the road next to them, a fact many people ignore.

Top tip, never expect a road user to do what they are supposed to. Theres enough clips on the internet now to suggest they often do the opposite. As annoying as it seems, be prepared for the worst. It won't generally affect your journey significantly but a crash certainly will plus your insurance will go up regardless of fault. Nice Arial Nomad at 2:59 :) With the 2 vans clip. At 11:50 if you had used the right hand lane, it would have kept the junction clear in case it was needed. There's no queue jumping in that clip, the badly driven vehicles are the ones in front of you not paying attention that have not used both lanes to ease the traffic and then merge in turn at the appropriate location further up. the tiny minds are ahead in the queue :)

Also, they are usually the type who will bully their way into the lane next door ! Also,The bike overtook on that white line because 1) he is much higher than a car and has much greater forward vision 2) he also has much better acceleration than a much heavier car. There were two cyclists, one riding properly, the other didn't have a clue! So it's not all cyclists. I do stop at red lights and crossings for pedestrians. I even stop when turning at junctions when someone is crossing the road under the new regulations. Remember, the worst are couriers/delivery riders on modified e-bikes who mostly don't follow the rules. The black Skoda is really an Audi underneath. When I am in Sutton next, I will keep a weary eye out for that car. You need to do a collab with Ogmios - kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5y6ZK2LpbSdqpI&ab_channel=Ogmios. Good video as usual.

The following is from a 2020 study from the university of Helsinki relating to certain types of vehicle and driver on the road: Self-centred men who are argumentative, stubborn, disagreeable and unempathetic are much more likely to own a high-status car such as an Audi, BMW or Mercedes.
@1milliondogs Жыл бұрын

@@mistycat1954 Yeah, I'm no psychologist so I don't really have the expertise to scrutinise it at a professional level. At the end of the day it's not a rule its just a trend that was observed as being 'more likely'. This part is worth a read though: To gain answers, researchers carried out a study of Finnish consumers. A total of 1,892 car owners answered not only questions about their car, consumption habits and wealth, but also questions exploring personality traits. The answers were analysed using the Five‐Factor Model, the most widely used framework for assessing personality traits in five key domains (openness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness). The answers were unambiguous: self-centred men who are argumentative, stubborn, disagreeable and unempathetic are much more likely to own a high-status car such as an Audi, BMW or Mercedes. “These personality traits explain the desire to own high-status products, and the same traits also explain why such people break traffic regulations more frequently than others,” says Lönnqvist. He points out that money is, of course, necessary to buy high-status products, which is why rich people are more likely to drive high-status cars. “But we also found that those whose personality was deemed more disagreeable were more drawn to high-status cars. These are people who often see themselves as superior and are keen to display this to others.”

More to the point, it's the reason why the solid line exists. It's usually because of lack of visibility. The road ahead was going uphill so you can't see what's coming the other way. Perhaps I should watch it all before posting a comment... I saw two things on a recent drive. One where a car which seemed to be mostly undamaged (it was a large Mercedes M class I think) had hit a van. Somehow the van had a collapsed wheel on the front and had ended up on the grass looking very much like an expired van. Or me driving my son back home on Saturday and I'm sticking to the speed limit of 30 through parts of Swansea that are quiet and most drivers ignore the limit. A lady around my age (so over 50) drives far too close and when I give her time to pass she doesn't so I indicate to move over to the lane I need and then she tries to shoot past. When she is able to pass me as we are going in different directions I get the finger and wonder why she couldn't just drive safely. There was plenty of room to over take at one point and she didn't so driving that close was pointless and needless. Sadly only got camera footage of her showing the finger.

It’s going to be a minor though isn’t it and you get a few of them and you’ve failed.

The red car would have been turning and the car behind hit it hard enough to push it past the turn. Its physics.

The hazard triangle isn't exactly doing a lot in the crash clip. Surely you'd put it reasonably far back instead of a metre from the van. I have no doubt that last car was drunk. I've never seen anybody thank somebody like that, or drive so close to the kerb, as well as cutting the queue

14:15 I should remind you LDC that priority on junctions, even according to THC, no longer exists on today's roads. You can now pull out of junctions forcing other road users to brake whenever you want regardless of the speed of oncoming traffic🤣🤣

Didn't Gerry Rafferty also sing about that famous street ?
