It's not about a man wanting to do the deed, it's about a man being able to reject it. It's not about a man allowing the deed to happen, it's about a man trusting that it won't. It's a really good show don't tell way to present: "what prison does to a person"

He wasn’t transfixed by a delicious cake before tearing himself away without wolfing it down. He wasn’t struck by an urge to sink his teeth in kiryus throat and suck out his blood. This is the urge they showed him having and struggling with.

People take this scene the wrong way. The idea is something that unfortunately happenened before where people who spent a LONG period of time without interacting or even seeing people of the opposite gender reacted...not well when trying to reintroduce them in. This scene is pretty much to show how Saejima managed to resist any impulse and don't fall for any temptations.

@@NormanReaddis It was more complicated than their age of consent just being 13, 13 year olds would only be able to consent within a limited range of ages, up to 18 I think. Definitely not with a 40-something guy. In fact, it was actually more restrictive than the rest of the world in some ways because women did not get full consent until 25. Until then there were age difference restrictions. But I have heard that the prior system was overcomplicated and had a lot of ambiguities and regional differences... and apparently that allowed a lot of dudes to get away with frisking young girls. The new system was more about making things clearer and more legally actionable than about the age of consent itself.

Look, Yakuza is my favorite series and I love Saejima, but I love him in spite of this scene. He was struggling against the urge to give the ol' heave-ho to a barely teenage girl, the fact he ultimately didn't doesn't make it any less reprehensible nor any less weird that Kiryu saw it happening and didn't intervene the second a grown man remained atop his adopted daughter longer than necessary because he "wanted to see if he'd resist" or whatever else. At best, it's weird. The whole scene is weird and uncomfortable. I understand why it was included, but people acting as if this somehow reflects well upon Saejima or Kiryu is laughable.
