I love Rod telling his truth of how his career went. He told me once that his unprofessionalism cost him a lot of money . When he was a top five point guard in the league . I'm happy to see his growth as a coach and as a man .

Dwayne "Pearl" Washington... R.I.P. He was a good dude. He played college ball with my cousin Rafael at Syracuse and I also had my own personal vibe with him while competing against him in the California Summer Pro League at Loyola Maramount. We ( Pearl, David Wingate, Bobby Phills, Tony Smith, Elden Campbell, Reggie Cross, Robert Pack) and myself ate breakfast together a few times...

I remember Rafael Addison at Syracuse. I grew up in the Phoenix area and the Suns drafted him when I was like 9 or 10. I went to USC (Class of 99) like Pack, but got there like 4 years after he left.
@EmoryAddison
@EmoryAddison 11 ай бұрын
Yes, I believe Raf was drafted the same year with Jeff Hornacek? I played some pick up ball at the (JCC) Jewish Community Center with some of the Suns, James Edwards, Larry Nance, Rod Foster, Jay Humphries, Bernard Thompson, Kenny Gattison, Walter Davis and others. Also, while I was playing in the California Summer Pro League Pack introduce me to a incoming freshman point-guard at USC name Duane Hackett who later was in the movie "Blue Chips" with Shaq and Penny Hardaway...@@CinqueMalcolm

Rod wanted more playing time. Mark was the better point guard and leader. Rod played better defense and scored at the cup more. Mark Jackson ran the offense and abused smaller guards. Knew the game better and didn’t make turnovers. Mark Jackson shot an I’ll advised brick during the playoffs after coming back from off of a knee injury. Rick Pitino resigned. Stu Jackson took over and they had a descent season. John McCleod was hired as the coach and it was an awful season. Mark came into the third season out of shape. Mo Cheeks got the starting position. Interviewer asks Mark. “What do you think that you can learn by having Mo Cheeks on the team?” Mark responded “Mo Cheeks could learn from me.” John McCleod and Al Bianchi Got at Mark Jackson in practice , pointing fingers in his face and yelling at him. Mark yelled back and got dismissed from practice. They suspended him for slamming the door. After that it was a bad relationship until McCleod left and they brought in Pat Riley to help Mark Jackson get back right again. Then Mark got traded to LA Clippers. The Clippers were a “run and gun” team which was what Mark liked best. He flourished. So did Rod Strickland. The Knicks fell apart without Rick Pitino. Rick knew exactly what to do with Mark and Rod but once he was gone all hell broken loose.
