I live in a city in Australia where everyone here pretty is ethnic and from immigrant backgrounds (My suburb specifically has a lot of Balkan immigrants). My 2 high school classmates (Albanian girl and Serb guy) started dating in 11th or 12th grade. I remember clearly some “friends” from their own background and family members didn’t approve and did not take them seriously because of the obvious and it’s all just puppy love etc. But hey, love doesn’t discriminate - 8-10 years later they still together, had a mixed western, Orthodox and Muslim wedding and pretty sure they’re expecting their first child now.

I also used to work in US, and my coworker was an Albanian guy from Prizren. There were 4 other Serbian guys beside me in the same restaurant, and we never had a single problem with him. I've been to Prizren this summer and it's a very beautiful, hospitable and friendly town! It's one of the few places in Kosovo where I didn't have to worry about speaking Serbian in public! Regardless of the current political situation, I believe normal people can get along even when they have different attitudes about certain political issues! P. S. And Serbian?Shkodra its very old, it existed before the creation of the Serbian empire and it was the city of the Skuraj,Spanaj and Dukagjini family. Im from a family of Vojvodas of Dukagjini Shkodra and I can tell you, that Shkodra has some connections with Serbs but not totally. I know that my family members with other Vojvodas used to make reunions in the mountains of Shkodra with Montenegrin Serbs to organize attacks against Turks. Also in the city of Ulqin,but things started to change in 1850 century. Our Vojvodas wanted more autonomy and started to united with the other Albanian Vojvodas of Kosovo and Dibra(Macedonia). In 1878 the League of Prizren(the so called Great Albania )was formed and the main enemies were the Kingdom of Serbia and Montenegro and the Ottoman empire. One of my relatives,Kol Marashi Pepaj and his cousin Deli Ndou Pepaj killed the Pasha of Shkodra. Also the grandfather of my grandfather,Ndok Mirashi Pepaj Vojvod of Shoshi, was a Vojvoda and a Aristocrat and intellectual of the Kanun. He even spoke personally with Krajl Nikolla of Montenegro. By saying that I wanted to evidence, that yes Shkodra has connection with Serbia but isnt Serbian, its mostly Albanian. Also we also have a legend of the castle of Rozafa that was built by 3 brothers, but it always got destroyed. So a old man suggested to put one of the prince wife, they did a reunion and the wife was chosen . The wife was Rozafa and she wanted to get walled half so that she could fed her baby. Do you have these things similar in Serbia?

A thing or two about rakija/raki. It is made by distilling fermented fruit, most common on the Balkans are made from plum and grapes. In parts of the Balkan with continental climate like Serbia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Romania (they call it palenca), North part of Montenegro, and North-East Croatia it's made from plums. In areas with Mediterranean warmer climate Greece, North Macedonia, Albania, coastal part of Montenegro, Herzegovina and Dalmatia it's usually made from grapes. Like any distilled drink rakija is colourless until you put it in the wooden barrels (usually from oak or mulberry tree). Grape rakija is usually clear but sometimes (in Bulgaria and N. Macedonia) its kept in wooden barrels to obtain colour. As Boris said it can be made from any kind of fruit apple, quince, pear, apricot, mulberry... You can also make excellent liqueur by adding honey, herbs or fruits (green walnuts, sour cherry). There is even šljivovica (plum rakija) with added juniper berries that resembles English gin or Slovakian borovička it's called klekovača (kleka=juniper). Drink responsibly 😂🥂

I think that travelling to ''rival'' countries should be mandatory for people of the Balkans,so as they could see the great similarities among us and stop the unecessary hatred and hostility

Now I know both of our people despise each other but to make the claim that your people wouldn't do anything to an Albanian in Serbia...it's just absurd and silly. Not to mention that not long ago 2 Albanian boys were beaten mercilessly in novi sad just for speaking Albanian. How you can hate people that you never met or never did anything wrong to you, I do hate bad people which they do have in Serbia but also we do have them among Albanians too. Politicians and religions made us hate each other for no reasons especially rulers they made us hate each other for their cause. In the wars only poor people fight, rich people move out and let poor people kill each other then they come back and rule us again
