This is one of the best games I have ever seen. I think it is under-rated, as few people seem to be aware of it. To me what makes it so special is: 1) how the queen sacrifice is followed by two beautiful rook moves - Rd4 and Rd2, 2) how unusual and original the position of the pieces is and the combinations that follow after the queen sacrifice, and 3) how near the end of the game nearly every white and black piece are hanging but also attacking the opponent's pieces. Even in the final position, it seems as if someone threw the pieces at random on the board and the white king unfortunately found himself in a mating net.

This game should be called Ding Liren's Symphony No. 1 - he used all his instruments so harmoniously.

That has to be one of the best attacking games I've seen in a good while. Great stuff, and great commentary as usual from King.

Thanks so much for this truly great game by a modern master; a reminder of how chess is such a beautiful and organically complex game.

At what point does Bai realize he's on the wrong end of an immortal game?
@RangeWilson7 жыл бұрын
I think it was after 18...Na4 which he must have overlooked somehow. Getting the king driven to f3 with no retreat possible is just ugly as can be. If not, then certainly after 20. Rd4 which Ding is not going to play unless he is sure it works.

What a fantastic game! Worth of Anderssen or Morphy. I would define this game "the immortal" of Ding Liren. Thank you Mr. King for your instructive explanations.

I liked that you showed it from white's side. The game is ridiculous, I could never play remotely like Ding.

A little late to the party on this one Daniel, but I'll still watch your analysis. Every perspective can bring something new!

Mr.King presents his viewers with quality over quantity, nothing wrong with that. Is much more risky beeing a hitchhiker on the hype-train.

I saw already analysings by Gustafsson and Jerry, but GM King's experience and perfection is simply the higher level :)

I've seen this game on all six of the chess channels I normally watch now, and as usual Daniel's analysis compares well with any of them. I didn't mind waiting for it 😉

It gladdens my heart that chess like this is still possible. This is the era of the computer, but this game wouldn't look out of place in a game collection of Adolf Anderssen.

At 13:06 or 13:14, how about Bf4? (Not Bh2.) Idea is to try to enable the white king to hide on h2 or g2. If it only costs a bishop for a pawn & white survives, then white should win due to being up material.
@postnubilaphoebus967 жыл бұрын
What about e4 after h3 h5? The bishop now has an escape square. Didn't calculate this, though.
