Baja DB30 Predator 212cc

This is my Baja DB30 Dirt Bug. This mini bike has MBX front suspension forks with MBX 10 handlebars. I put a 212cc Predator in it. No governor, custom throttle arm, jet kit, UNI air filter, straight pipe exhaust, and heat resistance paint on the exhaust pipe. It has a size 35 max torque clutch, and chain. Goes 50+

I put a ratchet strap from that crossmember to the back of the frame and bent it backwards. No more vibrations from the valve cover hitting against it.

Also it is very easy to throw a cinder block and a crank car jack in there and slowly rise the two bars the seat sits on for tons more space for an engine with very minimal effort

I cut my foot pegs and mounting plate right out of my doodlebug db30 and welded a nice flat strong plate so I can bolt anything in there and have more height if I need it

Well I brought same bike 2 days ago I picked up and no mount plate only thing my boy did was rig up chain tenisor and it's hell to put fuel in I can't imagine how hard yours is

Good vid lots of good info. A few tips. Try out the racing autolite spark plug for these motors. Suposed to add a full 1 HP. Put your fenders back on, it will keep crap off you and the air filter. Hotrodminibike.com has probably the best carb (mikuni 26mm) set up out there! Ebay has a motorcycle chain adjuster that's bad ass, it will really help you out. Keep up the good work.

I wish we could race bro, my top speed is 47mph. I don't recommend this for people who experienced, but I great mod for lots of speed, bore out the fuel jet inside the bowl under the carb... huge difference.

The key came with the clutch. Size 3/4" bore, 12 tooth max torque clutch. I had to file down the key so it could fit on the predator.

Shane, I want to do a video, I got the engine installed in about 2 hours. My engine is about 3/4" farther back than yours and the motor plate did not need to be altered but their plate must be different than yours.

Why not just take links out of the chain?

I ended up doing that but it never was able to line up right so I added washers under the rear engine mounts which tilted the engine up from the and this lined up the link in the chain, making the chain tighter.

It dosen't matter if you just bypass the governor or remove it it all does the same thing removing it make no difference that bypassing it

If you bypass the governor you will still have the lever arm and the plastic gear in the crank case. At higher speeds you risk the plastic gears bursting within the crank case causing major problems in your engine. It's best to remove the plastic gear and the metal lever arm and re-threading the whole on top of the case and putting a bolt in its place. Cleans it up and looks nice instead of bypassing it. Some reason it would not let me reply to your comment! Sorry, and I ended up buying a size 35 chain from Napa Auto Parts. Comes in 10ft increments. The chain can be sized up by popping the pins out of the links. Then you can move the engine forward or backward so you can find the appropriate tightness for the chain. Not too tight because it will chew up your clutch and your rear sprocket. Hopefully this helps and sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner!

It puts a lot of tension on the clutch teeth and can wear them down. Make sure the chain lines up straight from the clutch to the rear sprocket to avoid chewing up the teeth on both of them.

fuck hotrod mini bike, I had my frame all painted and ready for my new engine which was supposed to fit right in and now I have to go back to the drawing board. Why advertise this thing as a bolt in when it is not. I should have just added the spacers like the rest of this dudes on here.

I feel ya! The plate is for the old model DB30 and it drove me nuts trying to fit the engine on the plate, and drive the holes through both plates!
