Thank you so much for this video. This is exactly what happened to me. When I removed the bowl and the plastic part the main jet fell out. Fortunately I caught it and did not lose it. But when I put everything back together I had no clue where the jet has to go. I finally figured it must go between the solenoid plunger and the plastic part. When I tried to put the bowl back naturally it no longer would fit. The solenoid plunger touched the top of the jet and it drove me crazy for 2 days. Thanks to your video it showed me that the jet goes inside the plastic part and not on top of it. Great, great video!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I had an earlier video with a full rebuild on this carb and this was the most common question I got on that video. I’m glad this video is helping people to get things back together and running. Hopefully you’ll consider subscribing! 😁👍

I spent a while, looking on the internet to see where that tiny brass jet belonged. Most things are pretty intuitive, figuring out where they're supposed to fit. This one had me stumped for a while. Then I wondered if it was supposed to fit down in the stem of the plastic float assembly, as it was tapered, and o ring side in 1st. I gently pushed it down in with a jewelers screwdriver and it felt like it seated. As I still wasn't certain, I kept looking, using different search terms, till I found your video. Thanks. I already cleaned up the carb. All that's left is to test the fuel solenoid before putting everything back together. The other trick is to hold the plastic float assembly on the bottom, and set the rest on top so that tiny jet doesn't fall out again. Great video!

Thanks, Steve! I haven’t come across one of those yet, but I’ll certainly be looking out for it. I learned from Bruce to disassemble and reassemble carbs in a baking pan to contain errant parts, so I don’t expect to lose that jet, but knowing ahead of time which way it goes in certainly helps. 🔧👍

@@baldeagle242 You mention Walbro carbs in your videos a bunch. Is a Walbro carb just the general name for a 3rd party Chinese knock-off? I've tried searching for Walbro carbs and the results are not clear. Great videos BTW! Thank you for putting this content out there for people like me that love to DIY, tinker, and just like fixing things themselves.
@baldeagle2422 ай бұрын
@@donnybrook22 Thanks for your question! To clarify, Walbro is not a knock-off brand but an original manufacturer of high-quality carburetors and other small engine components. Walbro was founded in 1950 in the United States and is known for producing premium carburetors, fuel systems, and ignition components for a variety of applications, including lawn mowers, chainsaws, and small gas engines. The confusion often comes from the fact that Walbro carburetors are widely used in OEM applications. As a result, many third-party manufacturers, particularly overseas, produce imitation or “knock-off” versions of Walbro carbs. These knock-offs are typically lower in quality to keep prices down. I’ve learned from comments on this video and personal experiences that not all knockoffs are created equal. I’ve had good luck with the knock offs in the past but I’ve also found aluminum flashing and improperly installed (pinched) seals and gaskets in them. I also believe quality has gotten worse over the past few years since COVID hit and everyone was struggling to keep trained quality employees and parts. If you’re looking for a genuine Walbro carburetor, it’s best to buy from a trusted dealer or directly from Walbro’s website or authorized retailers. Look for official branding to avoid the knock-offs. The downside is price. A name brand Walbro carb can cost 10 times or more than the knock offs but the quality and assembly are second to none. I hate to promote something that doesn’t meet expectations but I’ve personally had good luck with the knockoffs over the years. I hope that clears things up, and I’m glad you enjoy the videos! Keep on tinkering and fixing things-it’s great to see more DIYers out there!

The main jet on my nikki carb had no o-ring. I re-installed it without and placed the Harbor Freight o-ring size( A006 ) you mention in No BS ! between the emulsion tube and the main jet as instructed. There's a tiny bit of resistance installing the bowl (as if the o-ring is a tiny bit too thick) and the waffle gasket is barely contacted when everything is fitted properly. Will tightening the bowl screws squeeze the gasket sufficiently ? I would prefer to use the o-ring that goes ON the main jet, but as you state , I don't know the size, and don't want to order the whole kit just for 1 o-ring. Thank you for the vids !

Quick question. Just rebuilt the Nikki carb on my craftsman lawn mower watching your video. Worked great and solved my leaking gas into oil problem. I changed oil and filter too. Mower runs great on run but backfires and hunts at low idle. What do I need to do? Screw adjustments? I put them where they were. But I’m not sure how much to mess with them and I assume it’s the low idle jet screw? Any help Would be appreciated. At least I’m back mowing
@baldeagle2425 ай бұрын
The adjustments on these carbs doesn’t do a whole lot. My suggestion is take the adjustment screw all the way out and make sure the pilot jet is fully open.
@goirish65905 ай бұрын
Will do. I also need to double check that the throttle return spring is working correctly. It got a little stretched when I pulled it and I had to tweak it when I put back on. Probably not the culprit but worth a check. Mowers running great at full throttle now that I changed out the polluted oil and rebuilt the carb. Your video really helped me to get both o rings and the main jet back in correctly

Thank you, I was not certain which end the fuel jet should go in the float bowel. I had put it back in correctly but did not want to put everything back without together without being certain to the correct way. By the way, the leaking fuel is no more and the engine fired up on the second pull.

Hey Bald eagle... I've had quite a few of these nikki carbs where the tiny O-ring had deteriated ..they leaked fuel into the crank case..causing bad problems.. it's not a bad carb i know a lot of small engine machanics that hate them..i always tell them at least it can be repaired.. it's the fuel that attacks the O-ring..i use non ethanol fuel in all of my equipment no problems after 3 years.. Nice picture of your grandad you got hanging on the wall..lol.. Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thank you my friend! I’ve got an entire series on these carbs and the issues they cause and how to repair them. It’s not a difficult carb to work on but your correct the fuel most of us use from the pump with ethanol is the detriment to many of the rubber parts in these carbs. Thanks for these tips. Do you happen to know what the screw specs are? The Phillips heads on mine are easily stripped (they must tighten these with a gorilla) when removing, and I'd like to replace them with a hex or torx head bolt.

It's an expensive repair if you need to buy a kit for 2 o-rings.

Not repairing this can be much more expensive. If you’re not going to repair this I recommend putting an inexpensive fuel shutoff in the fuel line and turning the fuel off every time you park the mower.
