Baldur's Gate 3 - The Soul Reaper (Vlaakith Deity Build)

Hi all! Today we have the next instalment of the Deity Build series, Vlaakith!
I know Vlaakith isn't a deity in the usual sense, but she can be selected by Clerics as a deity so it counts. We're specifically trying to make a duthka'gith with this build, which combines the psionic powers of the Githyanki with the powers of a red dragon. I hope you enjoy!

Scorching ray is the hands-down best single target damage option for this build. Each ray gets the +CHA to damage bonus from the sorcerer feature and, since they're attack rolls, they can crit. Light up those heretics!

I'm not gonna be able to watch this completely as of the time of posting, but I remember when I shared my original concept of this in the discord, and I'm really excited to see your take on these warriors who not only serve as the elite personal guard of Vlaakith 157, but also as shock troops for highly dangerous missions (like retrieving a certain weapon from a ghaik ship)

I've been using that glaive on my level 12 Wild Magic Barbarian, 22 dex, full Bonespike set. I just charge in and kill/tank everything, while the rest of the party hangs back and fires. It's loads of fun being nigh unkillable, while also having incredibly respectable damage.

A useful little tip I just confirmed on my recent playthrough, is that the Mirror of Loss in Act III can (theoretically) give two bonuses per character, one +1 Charisma and one +2 of any Ability score up to 24 (Arcane check>Patriar memory>pray>+2 bonus memory). This is especially useful for Charisma based characters, as I can set this to 17 at character creation and then raise it to 20 without spending any feats. The big downside though is that (unless you increase your Charisma when leveling and respec in Act III) this can be a long time with only an +3 ability bonus.

Even more - with hag hair your charisma can be 20 even if you start with 16 and never spent any ASI on it. This trick mostly relevant for paladins and bards, because sorcerers and warlocks want more than+3 to charisma even in 1st act

Hello! Very cool build! Do you still get heavy armor if you multi class into war cleric? Or do you need to start as cleric to get it?

You do. The heavy armor proficiency is a feature granted by the War Domain Subclass, not a proficiency of the main cleric class itself.

@jamesrhoades4057 well the main idea was that a Githyanki defected from the Creche, and by extension, Vlaakith. So I think Lathandar could be an interesting choice

I need your opinion I am making a life and death build life is easy 6 levels in life domaine cleric but as for death I have 2 choices 6 levels in necromancy wizard or 6 levels in spores Druid each is on theme and have pros and cons so I am having difficulty choosing what do you think

Spore Druid easily. Way better on stats.

@@user-sp4zg9te7c Okay. You need INT for Wizard, meaning your stats are gonna be spread really thin. If your only going to level 6 in Wizard, it's not worth it. But with Spores, you get more HP, Damage, and all the same undead stuff. You can even make a dual wield build to be an undead spellsword. Really fun build imo
