Baldur's Gate 3 is the third installment of the iconic RPG series, which debuted in 1998 and was originally created by BioWare. The game was developed by Larian Studios, world-famous thanks to their bestselling Divinity series, with support from Wizards of the Coast, the brand's owners. Its mechanics are based on the fifth edition of the tabletop RPG Dungeons & Dragons, though some of its elements have been modified to better fit the form of a video game.
Baldur's Gate 3 takes place about a hundred years after the events of Throne of Bhaal, an expansion to Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. The plot starts with the titular city - Baldur's Gate - being invaded by the Illithid (Mind Flayers). Before the local dragon riders drive off the aggressors, they manage to destroy a large part of the city and abduct many of its inhabitants, escaping aboard their ship - the Nautiloid - where they intend to subject them to a horrible process called ceramorphosis. Upon infecting the victim's brain with a Mind Flayer tadpole, the parasite starts devouring it, soon replacing it altogether, transforming its host into an Illithid.
The main protagonist manages to escape the kidnappers, but not without a tadpole of their own buried in their brain. Though at first they try to find a cure, they soon realize the parasite provides them with abilities others could only dream of. All this eventually uncovers a much larger intrigue, with our protagonist's fate depending on the decisions and choices we make throughout the game.
Baldur's Gate III starts with us having to create our own character or choose a pre-made one. The character creator starts off with choosing our hero's gender and race (there are 11 races and 31 subraces available at launch, ranging from the returning humans, dwarves, elves and halflings, to brand-new tieflings, drow, githyanki and vampire spawn). Next, we must choose their class (with 12 classes and 46 subclasses available at launch), initial skills (abilities, actions and spells, of which there are over 600) and stats: strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom and charisma.
There are also seven pre-made characters to choose from, with their own stories, personalities, desires, motivations and entire personal questlines. We can still add them to our party as companions even if we don't choose them as the protagonist.
The gameplay is shown from an isometric perspective, though the camera can be freely rotated and zoomed in to admire the game's fine details. The game's vast world (divided into regions) includes cities, villages, idyllic outdoor areas and dungeons - as well as the Underdark. Though we start the game alone, we're quickly joined by other adventurers; we can travel with up to three companions at once. They can be befriended and even romanced.

I think it's interesting giving the noblestalk to Baelen. When you get to Baldur's Gate, you can catch up with Derryth in the Elfsong, and she actually thanks you for doing it- it reminded her of how awful her husband was and gave her the extra bit of courage to finally just leave him and start her own life. It's the only time I ever remember seeing the character being happy. It might be the best outcome, to be honest. Neither of them are being abused anymore, and Derryth wasn't chained to a failing shop anymore.

Does that work? I mean.. story-wise. I know something similar works for Mol and the Druids' idol, but: I do know there's at least one more Noblestalk in the game (available in Act III), but if you gave the first one to Shadowheart and then go visit the dwarf-lady with the second one on you, she won't react to it at all. I even sold her the second one and it didn't change anything. I *suspect* you may only have that one chance in the Underdark to decide whom to give it to - but I can't be certain.

@@1SaG I believe you can do this, get credit for completing this quest and still keep the noblestalk, but I don’t know if you get the benefit of an upgraded inventory at the Bonecloak’s store. I plan to try it out on my next playthrough, but it’s a major loss if you can’t get noblestalk in the store, it’s the best healing item in the game.

@@AndreaB6 That's exactly what I've been told. Although I didn't know you could buy Noblestalk off Deryth in Act III. I was referring to the Act III-Noblestalk you can find in Figaro's basement... for some reason. It's the same with that one and Deryth as what you described WRT Shadowheart - it doesn't trigger anything special. So I think I might be correct in assuming the game wants you to take an "either/or" decision while you're in the Underdark.

Be me. Best friends with Shadowheart. She told me everything. I find the noblestalk. Talk to Shadowheart. No option to give it to her. Try to force her to eat. She tells "You should probably speak to someone first before making them eat random Mushrooms". I throw it at her. It get's destroyed by the throw damage.

Thanks for this: I missed the mushroom in my first playthrough and I haven’t gotten to that point yet in my current one. The bibberbangs blew up (after I rescued Baelen), and it wasn’t there afterwards, so I guess it got blown to kingdom come!

there was a torch not too far off from baelens bag. if you set the bibberbangs off itll ignite the fumes and destroy the noblestalk.

There is another one you could try. In Baldurs gate next to Shar's house, there is a merchant who had his memory stolen. I could give it to him, but he would definitely remember someone close to him who died, I don't know what rewards you could receive from a rich merchant.

Used lazaels psoinic jump to jump to the noblestalk, i lucky had a scroll of misty step on her. She throws it the baelen, 10 strength throw. Grab it jumped back out and everything exploded. Baelen lived so it worked perfectly. Just be quick

you can just use scratch to throw the bag to baelen, then baelen will use misty step to teleport to you. after that just explode everything and take the noblestalk.

You can mage hand the noblestalk to the walking area then jump to the bag, then jump to baelen, snag 1 of his steps scrolls and then either Gith boost jump out or use the scroll.

I simply invis mage hand, threw the pack, then found the noblestalk, psyonics jump, turn based after I landed, grab noblestalk, jump away

Since I am an idiot and keep doing the same things in all my play-throughs, I've always given the shroom to Shadowheart. I *suspect* that this is the reason why her store in Baldur's Gate is always broke for me (limited stock and always only 10 to 15 GP on her, no matter how much I bought off her the day before). I can't prove that though, since I've never tested giving her the shroom. Side note: There seems to be a side-quest to this side-quest. It involves (I guess) Bhalen having a, ...errr... tragic accident in the Underdark, her winding up alone in her shop and Tav then being able to find her a new companion. In my current play-through, I went the same route again, though after having read some of the possible outcomes, I think one should try to get her to break up with her husband (can be done with or without him having an "accident"). Their relationship, if they stay together, seems to either be very unhappy (if Bhalen lives and remains stupid) or quite toxic if he lives and gets cured of his amnesia. So I probably should've tried for that accident and then given the shroom to her.

I start a new play-through with steely determination to romance someone else but Shadowheart ... and then she asks me to join her for a bottle of wine and I'll forget my own rules for the play-through. the characters in this game are soooo good. The first time I did this, I disliked Derryth. I'm like why is she being so mean to him. It's not until I got deeper into their story, and trying out the different outcomes that I realized not all is what it seems on the surface. Even when you get to act 3 you learn a bit more about them

I would reward her "Worst shopkeeper in Baldurs Gate" (1-3) The only reason to give it to Deryth for me would be, if I would get real good discounts afterwards. Or if they would have more noblestalk to buy in the shop afterwards -- best both. Deryth has good ingredients in Act 1 and 2 (as long as you have access to the Underdark) but in my first playthrough she was really even more rude in the shop as before (I burnt accidentally the noblestalk, so no option here). In Act 3 you also have two other shops at least with ingredients -- in Act 1 you have her and that guy in the grove (which has very limited ingredients).

at about 8:38 you can see water and burning wreckage in the background, as well as rocks and sand. I could be wrong, I am making assumptions. I was in the Underdark when my durge ate the mushroom but the scene played out exactly the same, so you're definitely transported _somewhere_ during this scene. Which makes no sense for just a narration.

you have to ask Derryth what she was looking for in the underdark and ask if the nobles talk could restore bailen memori, with that your char will have the knoledge that if can maybe cure lost memories, after that just ask shadown heart about her memories until the option to give the mushroom apears, just take note that you will need to persuade her for it so be sure that you have inspirations or respec your char to carism and persuasion profiency (if you don't want to save scum that is)
