I shooed the kid away but then I see it at the camp. Aparently my husband believed it really was an orphan, lol. I'm from the capital, he's not, I've heard this lost child story so many times, I can tell a real orphan from a fake one. That was so obviously a scam, first thing I did was check my coin count and equipment, especially after those Tiefling kids. Then the child disappeared and I thought maybe my husband did its lost mom quest, but now I know he just got creeped out by Orin and never told me he was tricked into eating a kitten. And since he's a huge animal lover he probably didn't want to relive the tale.

If you want Yenna to be 'Orin-less', you should spam a lot of long rests after Gortash's coronation. Just remember to add the suspected characters into your party (Gale, Lae'zel, Halsin, and Minthara), but it's ESSENTIAL to left one of them out (I usually left Papa Halsin out T_T). After you got the cutscene, not only you will not be eating cat, Yenna will still be there at your camp. The real Yenna, together with her cat. If you go to the sewer, the cat will still be safe, but Yenna will be gone.

I just didn't go to the coronation until I'd done a bunch of Lower City stuff. Orin kidnapped Lae'zel without ever actually impersonating her in camp, everything at camp was totally fine and normal until I entered the sewer by way of The Emperor's hideout and Orin's "I'm your dying friend, for realsies" scene that reveals the kidnapping plays and everything at camp goes on just being normal other than the missing person.

I encountered her by accident around the outskirts of the city at least 3 times before the coronation or entering the sewers- by that time I was so goddamn paranoid that it turned my playthrough of a DnD-based RPG into a horror game, and few games have left me feeling that uneasy about my interactions with other characters.

Yenna confuses me so much because in my game, I had a scene where Laezel was holding her at knifepoint pleading with me that Yenna was Orin and she saw her change shapes, and after passing a check it was actually Laezel who turned into Orin. It seems like a lot of people notice that after encountering/defeating Orin Yenna just disappears altogether, but she was in my camp for the entire game, even after Orin was dead. So either Orin is able to be two people at once or Yenna is actually a real person...

In my playthrough, Orin took Halsin's place and made it look like Halsin attacked Yenna in the middle of the night. She and her cat are still alive and well! I also buy her soup every day to make her feel loved and appreciated.

As soon as Gortash told me there was an imposter in camp I immediately realized it was Yenna. I did not go near that girl for any reason whatsoever and even *REDACTED* her in a branched save file which I later reverted. Safe to say she came running to me bloodied and scared in the undercity ruins, and I felt a sigh of relief, cuz the only people who were at camp at the time were Withers, the Moonmaiden, and an already very dead Volo; so I assumed I was right - but then she turned out to be Orin anyway and I fucking hate that bitch for it.

I really don't know exactly what triggers the scene of Orin revealing herself. The first time I saw this was after I went into the Emperor's cellar and took his stuff, then Orin disguised as Lae'zel burst through the door. Afterwards she revealed herself and told me she kidnapped Lae'zel. When I went back to camp, Yenna is gone. So I suspected it was Yenna. Then I reloaded a previous save, this time not going into the Emperor's cellar just yet, but decided to do the Wizard's Tower with Dame Aylin. After that I went back to camp, and then Orin disguised as Lae'zel (again) kills Yenna, then afterwards reveals herself. So Orin wasn't Yenna at all?

Yenna is given to the players to be a replacement tool for the plot , in case Halsin/Minthara , Gale or Lae'zel are not available to be Orin's captive. ( this is also why she cannot be harmed at camp, cause the game needs her if other conditions cannot be met.) Many people trigger the abduction event after descending to the sewers from the Emperor's hideout, in which she is killed by Orin off screen, so players think she was Orin all along, and as a result hate her. In reality, she is just a poor kid who's mother was so sick, she lied to go shopping, so she wouldn't have to die in front of her daughter. The way Grub delivers the line made me pause and stare at the screen for a couple minutes... I wish Yenna would have been given depth enough, to have additional conversations if she's is alive and well in camp. It's been a tenday, and im still waiting for that home made dish i've been promised !!!

I wonder what the trigger is for this scene, for me, Orin had disguised herself as Minthara claiming to have killed Astarion in self-defense. Saying all of my companions were after my life, turns out it wasn't his body, and she had kidnapped Monthara so I only got her back as a companion once Orin where defeated. So the little girl and the cat is still living happily in my camp.

Gortash told me she was in the Camp. The only npc that could've been her was the little girl. I hit the kid and the cat, nothing happened. Lae'zel got kidnapped and the kid vanished. I was a little mad with that

The only companions that can be replaced are Laezel, Gale, and Minthara/Halsin. If you have all 3 in your party when Orin reveals herself it will be guaranteed to be the kid. The reason you can’t find the fake before is because the game has not decided who the fake is until the event triggers

I knew it! I found extremely weird that you could accept the kid in your camp and not have a quest prompt to find her mom, also the cat being very scared despite saying she treats him well. After unmasking Orin twice I began to suspect that the kid was her so I went to the camp, saved the game and proceeded to attack her, doesn't matter if the hit is supposed to kill her she just runs away from the camp. I reloaded the previous save game file so I don't know if your party member still gets kidnapped if you don't accept her in the camp

Seems honest that Lae'zel and Gale are one of the potential kidnapped, while Astarion and Shadowheart do not. Astarion is an assassin himself, while Shadowheart, despite been a cleric, is also an assassin or at least is used to deal with ambushes - proof is that she can kill Lae'zel if you do not interrupt her in one of the camp's long rest. I don't know about Halsin or Minthara, since I never found them (I ignored the Tiefling's situation and the Goblin camp). However, Gale is probably the dumbest in such subject, making sense that he can be kidnapped. Wyll also is dumb - we can read that as naive, who is easily trust the others -, but he has Mizora to alert him for these shits.

Man.. for me, Lae'zel was holding the kid with a knife to her throat and claiming she's Orin. I thought the kid was Orin from the start so I told Lae'zel to kill her. So she cut the girl's throat open and then Lae'zel turns into Orin and the kid falls down dead. I was like :O

The thing, sometimes it’s not the kid. There was one where the kid is real at your camp and Oren disguised herself as the kid outside your camp to try to convince you to kill the one in your camp. There’s one where Oren disguises herself as Lae’zel and murders the very real child pretending they are the shapechanger. There’s one where she pretends to be Minthara and that she killed Astarion for being the shape changer, and there are many many other iterations I’ve seen floating about. Which means, somehow the game is generating different hiding places for Oren in different playthroughs, and some of the end with the child being very real and still living peacefully in your camp, or even being real and being killed by Oren. Basically, there’s very little way of actually knowing where and how she’ll pop up in any given run.

@@mickymcbryan4814 that's a good point, but,at that time, the kid was the only NPC in the camp that could've been her. Unless If she already was lae'zel and somehow killed the kid and I got no cutscene about It. The kid disappeared after Orin telling me about the kidnap

Yes but we can avoid this, in my playthrough, after letting the kid joined my camp, I met orin disguising as a flame fist soldier at the back door of the camp supplies for refugees right infront of the sleeping orc, just follow the snoring noise and you can met orin before she kill the cat and yenna in your camp.

Spoiler ahead - The most fucked up thing I (thought) I saw in game was Halsin Berserking and mauling Scratch in bear form. Luckily Scratch was just unconscious. I was ready to kill Halsin then and there. Nobody hurts best boi. It was Orin Disguised as Halsin and she was letting me know she had captured Mr. Druid. Apparently she doesn't find much sport in actually killing animals. This scene was waaaay different than my first playthrough where I had entered the sewers and Halsin just appeared. I triggered this by camping a few days in Lower City without buying the rooms in the Elfsong and without entering the sewer.

I did wonder what happened to Yenna. In my first playthough I never saw this. Thought she ran away after Laezel was kidnapped. Turns out she was the spy. And I thought it was the female Druid I forgot the name of just now, lol. (Due to the note I found in the sewers)

@@jackoberto01 Who Orin abducts isn't decided until the event triggers, so prior to that happening everyone is who they say they are.

Yeah idk. Before I started my Dark Urge I would agree that was pretty screwed up. But holy crep TDU is a messed up character. Playing her as good is even more heart-wrenching as you watch your character commit horrible acts unable to stop themselves, only to break down afterwards.

It's annoying that you can't get rid of her. My character keeps refusing her and she just shows up again the next night. And you can't kill her either, she just heals herself immediately... Like. I get it's a child, but why? My evil dark urge doesn't want her around, so why give me the option to refuse her and then keep throwing her in my face?

What? I'm so confused right now! In my Dark Urge Playthrough that girl annoyed me so much, I accepted her in my camp at one point and way later, I got a notification from someone that Orin already shapeshifted into someone in my camp. So I immediately knew it had to be the girl and I tried to kill her but she was unkillable and I couldn't do much with Dialogue. Later when I already killed Orin, the Girl was still in my camp and she never did anything until I finished the game, so I was like "ok the girl was not Orin, but what's her deal then?" So wtf happened with the Girl in my playthrough? xD

She's basically a plain girl. That also happened to me in my first playthrough. Orin will kidnap or not kidnap her at some point depending on how early you kill Gortash or advance with other quest? There's really no definite answer, such is D&D

Even though it’s by far not the most gruesome choice, I just had to reload the game several times to relaunch the deep gnome from the windmill over and over again. Priceless.

I like the _idea_ of the game. I like fantasy elements in stories and this one seems interesting. However, I'm not really a fan of turn based RPGs or the top-down camera angle. I'm worried it will take me out of the game. Seventy dollars is a lot of money to spend on a game that I might not even finish.

@@blueflare3848I know it’s been a week but if you are still on the fence- remember steam has a 2 hour refund window. So you could try out the game for 2 hours- skip the beginning cut scene, pick an origin character (spend as little time in character creation as possible), and jump straight to gameplay. See if you enjoy the game enough in those 2 hours to keep it or refund it. If you decide to keep it, then start over with a custom character and enjoy the story proper.

I genuinely hate the “Orin is a doppleganger” storyline in BG3. Amongst all the rest of the games amazing dialogue and paths Orin is just Deus ex Machina the character. Don’t get me wrong, some of it can be fun and I LOVE the game, I’m on like my 10th run or some shit, but Orin as a character just doesn’t sit right at all.
