I just did this lift. If you want it to be like 10 times easier, stick a 2x4 piece of wood in that top space instead of that socket to keep it up. Like a foot long piece, wedge it between the rubber stopper and upper arm. You won't need the bottle jack at all! It will be perfectly held up and you can move everything around just fine. Just use a car jack under the lower arm to make height adjustments. Saved me a ton of time and frustration.

the vehicle was slightly tightened making it level. If your CV axle came out you need to 'obviously' put it back in, and to do so you might need to disconnect some items. I believe so, I think they are all the same shape just different thickness. You should ask the manufacturer to be sure.

Hey man, so I installed Some ball joint spacers, and now I have a bunch of positive camber, I’ve adjusted the camber bolts but it’s still not enough before the lift I didn’t have positive camber or anything, any clue why it kicked the camber out so much?

@SnailTrail4x44 жыл бұрын
It depends how much you lift it. I know 4crawler makes different sizes. Measure the ground to your fender for the front and back and figure out the difference. Then go get the size you need. Remember you can always fine tune by adjusting your torsion bars

@SnailTrail4x45 жыл бұрын
Trekker and first gen 4Runners have a solid front axle so this mod won't work for them as they don't have independent suspension
@SimonElenor5 жыл бұрын
The Trekkers were 1981 to 1983.
@SnailTrail4x45 жыл бұрын
@@SimonElenor -- ok, I'm not sure what your trying to say here... Ball joint spacers won't work on them as they don't have IFS.
First gen started in 1983 and was the square body, two years into the first gen run they changed it to IFS. The second gen 4runner is more rounded and is IFS that started in 1989.

I'm stuck on this install... how do I raise the upper A arm? Seems like with a bottle jack between the upper and lower it pushes the lower down which keeps popping my cv axle. With the cv axle back in line and the bottle jack lowered, I'm missing several inches of clearance to get it lined up. How do I raise the upper arm vs lowering the lower one? Any reason for it to be bound up?
@SnailTrail4x44 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaO1h5uOnJZ0bJo See how I prevented the A-Arm from lowing, this is how I kept it up. Then when I used the bottle Jack it did lower the lower A-Arm, but it didn't need to go that far.

@@SnailTrail4x4 Got 'er done... yes my socket shim fell out after trying to bang the old upper ball joint out of the steering knuckle. Turns out that shim is crucial for getting it all back together! Had to undo sway bar link and tie rod connector then bottle jack while fighting to keep the CV locked back into place. It was a battle doing it solo but in the end I won! Great video btw you inspired me to lift my second gen so thank you!
